I posted this below in a topic a couple of weeks back and i remain bewildered by their policies.
Quote
He added that the industry as a whole must take good care of the other tourists who remain in Thailand, while also exploring new markets to compensate for the absence of Chinese tourists.
I had a dream....
So with immediate effect immigration officers have at all airports have been instructed to stop the interrogations of people who simply wish to be in Thailand and spend money and welcome everybody with open arms.
No more ......you come too Thailand too much, here too long spending money, you stay in our cells for a few days and we make you pay to leave!!
Farcical tm30 rules will be totally relaxed along with other pedantic obstructive visa requirements.
The empty hotels nationwide will slash prices, offering promotions such as pay for one night get one free night.
Thai Airways will promote huge discounts for both domestic and international travel.
Jet ski scam at Phuket and Pattaya put on hold for a few months.
Taxi and tour bus drivers required not to be drunk in charge or rip off or assault customers.
Hospitals will offer free medical care for anyone with virus concerns.
Buy one get one free bar girl promotions.
etc etc etc..... then i woke up....
The reality is they have come up with possible 4am bar openings, marching bands and possible visa exempt for the Indian and the Chinese market.
Meanwhile as per the topic the crazy immigration officers seem oblivious to the tourism decline and at will obstruct, decline and otherwise make life very unpleasant for people holding visas simply wishing to enter the country again and spend money.

I think i am missing something here ,,,isnt the BMW smart car just a load of <deleted>?.
Its just a BMW with a laptop computer able to access a wifi network and immigration records.
So a guy using a honda wave and having a smart phone with wifi could do the same.
The detection comes from the brilliant highly skilled act of looking in the guys passport to detect an out of date stamp......and another heinous criminal overstayer causing mayhem is taken off the streets.
Drunk drivers kiddie fiddlers wife bashers can relax,... the cops with smart cars have bigger fish to fry.
Pathetic.

Pispot should get a side job as a motivational speaker.
3 years ago i was clueless about tourism and had no worthwhile ideas on the subject.
However today I am the Thai minister of tourism earning over 5 million baht a year, with a Mercedes and driver and 3 superb houses, First class travel worldwide...... etc etc
Yet i am still totally clueless snd bereft of sensible ideas......... yes in Thailand opportunity knocks.

People on that long an overstay should get a month at the famous Bangkok Hilton for a couple years prior to being sent home for good. That's if they survive that long.
Exactly! what a heinous, vile, sickening crime ......... overstaying.
Murderers, rapists, drunk drivers, kiddie fiddlers drug dealers just pale into insignificance compared to this willful criminal, here for over six years spending money in the economy but without a correct visa stamp in his passport.
Lucky immigration got him!
God knows what fate would have awaited him, if he had fallen into the clutches of an angry mob of the self righteous, indignant, holier than thou pitchfork wielding THAI VISA members.

Pattaya may be a more fun easy option for you guys.
Many resort style hotels with bungalows by the pool and plenty of wheelchair friendly hotels.
Hundreds of girlie bars with thousands of girls who by the very nature of the town are quite welcoming and experienced with wheel chair bound guys wanting some fun and relaxation.
For sure you would find a suitable friendly bar with girls a plenty willing to help you party if you guys spread a bit of goodwill and grease your wheels and theirs!
Good luck and enjoy!!

Yes its very intrusive, we should be asked once perhaps? not continually disturbed.
Whats the solution if you dont wish to subscribe?

Are the powers that be just so incredibly brain dead and moronic?that they cannot see the need to make it
compulsory for every vehicle to at the very least carry a warning triangle and safety lights and in the case of trucks or buses a few of each and some flourescent jackets cones etc.
Routine vehicle stops should require proof of having all safety warning equipment with huge fines for offenders.
Just dont get how dumb they are.. a country with such appalling road safety and they cant do the basics to try and solve this and save the lives of their own people.
The standard safety equipment package could even be given free to every vehicle owner.
The resources manpower devoted to overstayers is staggering ..........yet the minister for road safety, if their is one does what exactly?

A lot of kerfuffle, when you can watch all premiership games live on many streaming sites on the net.
I have watched all my teams games for the last three years on a live stream without joining or credit card details etc from a site freely available on the net.... one of so many.

Lunatic laws like the licencing of dart boards and banning of bar games like Connect Four and Jenga. Powercrazy madmen running the Country.

Totally shocked by this ban as above, it seems they are completely deluded, they have for years allowed the jet ski scam to prosper at great detriment to the tourist industry yet bar games are considered offensive.
Amazing Thailand! what next? maybe they will soon announce their new space program ?

About 15 months ago their was a Thai Visa red highlighted BREAKING NEWS article which with great fanfare hailed the imminent return of the Double entry TV along with the scrapping of the two entry VE per year via land borders rule.
It transpired to be nothing more than breaking wind!!

introduce double entry visas, but if you wish to use it along with the METV and have the money to come and go and spend a lot of time in Thailand...........you have a very real chance of being denied entry, imprisoned against your will and incurring costs of flight etc etc etc, why because you have too long in Thailand spending money., apparently detrimental to the interests of Thailand.
They really are a bunch of clueless numb nuts and should get their act together and produce a concise, coherent, consistent immigration and tourism policy that truly offers a warm welcome to the kingdom.

Different interpretations of rules at each immigration office.
Entry to the country with a legitimate visa often at the whim of the mood of immigration staff.
TM30 Lunacy.
Insurance requirements inconsistent and with little regard to reality.
Financial requirements for long stay visas with little correlation to countrywide earnings.
etc etc etc etc......add to list at will!!!
All of the above cannot be sorted with their combined resources experience and brain power?
Yet they allocate a whole team of men to arrest a 5 day overstayer!!! ..... perhaps they should have sent a tank with a few soldiers..... a great photo op for big OUD to flex his muscles as the master of overkill.
Lunatics running the asylum!!!!!

I have rented with, https://www.thairentacar.com/index.php/en/ , many times over the years always just using a pink coloured Uk licence.
Last time the hassle was more the requirement for a credit card holding deposit not a debit card, but after seeing my work permit waived the deposit altogether even after I offered cash.
They will also deliver to your hotel location etc, once had an accident and they brought a replacement car to me the next day 50kms out in the boonies in Issan with absolute minimum fuss re insurance.

They really are incredulous, so many basic rights have been ignored!
i wonder with such strong defamation rules here how they get away with stamping in your passport insufficient funds when like many others you had the funds or proof of,so the stamp is fraudulent and asking you to sign a document which clearly is incorrect.Shame this site is a commercial concern and therefore doesnt have the gonads to voice official complaints and make the powers that be fully aware of the total sham, charade fiasco of some crazed immigration officers fabrication and interpretation of visa rules at some points of entry.
if i was the OP poster i would share this report with every relevant authority, news organisation, travel agent ,embassy, airline and every possible social media outlet to make the whole bizarre fiasco as public as possible!!

Does this new rule apply to a non O retirement visa and the extension both issued a few months ago at a local immigration office with re-entry permit.?
-
Thanks Joe, as I thought.
My permanent registered address of many years hasnt changed so i didnt report my holiday to immigration either before departure or on my return, I guess at the new report time it may possibly be a problem or not if common sense applied. -
My 90 day report slip has a due date of 23rd September.
However I left the country on the 3rd Aug and returned to Thailand on the 21st August.
I believe this trip resets my 90 day report time? and I would now report 90 days from my re entry date of 21 August on circa 18th November.
Thanks for confirmation or otherwise.
-
Wasnt it mentioned on this thread that the rule only applies to O a visas issued in your own country or at a Thai consulate ?
If that is the case then an 0 issued at your local immigration and extended would be exempt from the ruling?
Is the ruling with immediate effect or still vague?

my full health insurance cover has a payout of 50 or so million with premium of 55000 baht.
That sounds a very good deal, is it a policy from your home country or from a Thai insurer and roughly what age bracket is that for?
Thanks.
