Foreign remittances warning for tax returns
I will save you the trouble. The UK state pension is specifically not mentioned in the DTA between the UK and Thailand. The best reference for it is in the digest https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/5b05425fed915d1317445ed2/DT_Digest_April_2018.pdf Page 34, Thailand, go to the far right and note 4 - "Treaty does not include an article dealing with DT-Company Non-Government pensions. Also, no relief for State Pension or ‘trivial commutation lump sum"

what a horrible adventure to even try to register for e-tax filing
Residency (or non) for tax and domicile are 2 distinctly separate issues in most cases unless you were a so called non-dom. Depending when he went he could have applied for split year treatment but only if truly becoming a non resident which would be based on both days spent in the UK and ties - IE family as you mention etc. But nothing to do with Thailand and the TRD.....

Information sharing between credit agencies and UK banks
I had not heard (or had forgotten) about ISIPPs and after reading had a quick search. Apparently still under FCA rules and registered in the UK - https://www.expertsforexpats.com/advice/expat-money-and-finance/sipps-non-uk-residents-expats https://pccwealth.com/what-is-an-international-sipp/ And supposedly one of the leading offerings - https://www.thewealthgenesis.com/insights/novia-global-review Apologies to the OP but I know nothing about effects of credit checks. It is a travesty that your current provider cannot (will not) offer drawdown to a non-resident. Will no other providers allow you to transfer - Eg. last time I looked Interactive Investor had an extra monthly charge for non-residents? Was taking an annuity an option (bearing in mind changes to treatment of pension pots for IHT from next year) ?

Foreign remittances warning for tax returns
I can only presume semantics and you actually meant sometime in 2025 as if you remitted money "this year" (calendar 2026) you would not be putting in a tax return until next year earliest.......unless supposedly rental income but even then that would I believe normally be Juneish......

really inconsiderate people...
If I understand you correctly then I have to disagree. Certainly did not apply in the UK. Have you ever been to Oxford Street? Depending which side of the road the shops were on that you wanted to go to.......

Thai tax tangle: Expats warned of new rules on overseas income
Not sure if it counted as an "audit" as such but @khunPer has reported being questioned in a number of threads which seemed to be a specific process aimed at mainly Scandinavian (inc Denmark) individuals in a specific region.

Norway's Consumer Council takes aim at en<deleted>tification
This is the title from a Register article - https://www.theregister.com/2026/03/06/forbrukerradet_aim_en<deleted>tification/ If you haven't heard of "en<deleted>tification" it get's explained in a fairly amusing way in the video linked in the article - the video is only 4 minutes long and worth watching if only for the somewhat amusing ending........ Mods - any chance the link can be added with the deleted word? 4 letters denoting more solid excreta.......

Is it me or my connection?
Well at least I know it is not just me. Some days it becomes unusable for some/many minutes often with a Cloudflare page popping up saying the AN server is unreachable - IE not my browser or Cloudflare...... Then it may just suddenly start working again as if nothing ever happened. Clearing the dns cache and cookies sometimes helps and sometimes not. It can be very frustrating.........

ZORIN 18
I take it you have tried the Zorin Community forums to ask them? Someone here (or more likely in the Linux part of the forum) may be able to help you but I think you need to be a bit more specific about what exactly you are expecting to do that you cannot? One of the reasons I chose Mint over Zorin for my virtual box was the depth of their help forums.

Agreed. Traffic Friday and Saturday night seemed lighter than many recent weekends.

Post (letter) not arriving from UK
When you drive in off Sukhumvit keep to the left of the first building and go to the building behind it - loads of parking space. Through the doors up the step/ramp and there is a desk with one or 2 people sitting there and 3/4 chairs for visitors. I think this is the same place to collect parcels that you mention as there were several people doing that when I was last there. This is where I was directed to go the first time after asking in the main building. Explain to whoever is there and ideally show them the address of a letter you had delivered before or just write out your address and give it to them. This last time I had no issues being understood using English only.......... Since I received the batch of letters I mentioned I have unfortunately not received any more recent post so it appears it is still WIP....... Best of luck

Home and Contents Insurance
I can only suggest going to a local broker and asking them for options. I was a little surprised that the OP suggested no joy with AA Insure however you may struggle with contents only for the situation you mention.

Home and Contents Insurance
Most home insurance policies apparently took out most of the flood cover, if they had it originally, after the major floods (2011 I think?). I know mine certainly did.

Microsoft Teams and SKYPE
Well somehow you must have missed it as I always thought it was very clear how to reconnect - either via Teams or with the right web sign in from a certain date. It was notified in more than one email from MSN and discussed in one or more of the many Skype replacement threads in Computers and or mobile sub forums. Not really sure why you posted this in the AV sub forum....... Unfortunately I have now used up all but a few pennies of my previous credit so have moved to Localphone to call UK landlines.

Lawyer that knows local police
That's a bummer. In case you are not aware many of the "assessors" that turn up to an accident on behalf of the insurance company do not work directly for that company but are sub contracted. Hence my earlier comment re buying via a broker. An ex partner of mine had a similar experience at a U turn where the mia of a police guy drove her her car into the back of hers. Fortunately with contact to our insurance broker she refused to sign anything and at the end of it the sub contracted agents were apparently removed from that insurance company's roster.

Lawyer that knows local police
This comes up quite regularly and for anybody reading it is worthwhile, in my experience, having a good relationship with an established insurance broker. It should make no difference to the premiums you pay but in the situation mentioned they can be very helpful and should have more senior contacts with the insurance company.

Advice needed on new water pump
Update just in case someone comes across this in the future. Decided to get a new pump and went for the Mitsu EP-255R2. Saleslady was trying to suggest going for the 300 but I fortunately demurred..... Not sure of the old wattage (probably 200 but could have been less....) the increase in pressure from what I had is great - except it made an old hose under the sink in the kitchen split.......new kitchen tap required.........☹️ I had replaced one of the old bathroom taps because of some issues including rusting on the tails but hadn't noticed the issue in the kitchen. I have also now noticed that on an outside hosepipe, when the tap is on but sprayer off, water is forcing its way out around the hose clamp - and the quick connector at the spray end which needs changing. Just hoping no issues in the glued blue water pipe anywhere........
