  1. Perhaps with Songkran now pretty much over everywhere someone may actually start to look at it next week...........or sometime thereafter .....
  2. There was a separate thread on this at the time of its airing. I am not Swiss but personally I found it almost a complete waste of time to watch due to the vagueness.
  3. I have used a fixed account for extension purposes for 10 years now. Never been queried by Immigration at Jomtien. As mentioned there are (apparently) some accounts which are true fixed (not withdraw-able before the due date) and these cannot be used. Most of the fixed accounts offered by most of the providers are as @Pattaya57 stated. If you say which Immigration office you use I am sure someone will be able to chime in with relevant experience.
  4. Seconded I was there 10 days ago and a routine check and clean is now 700 baht - was 600 before all be it that it may have been a while ago.......
  5. This one - https://aseannow.com/topic/1325320-thailand-post-considers-becoming-virtual-banking-agent/
  6. According to the flyer at the bottom of the link the guy (name and picture shown) is a "Tax Audit Officer Senior Professional Level".........whatever that means...........
  7. Relevant only if you make a comparison to how many Singaporean visitors there were before. Here is a quote from a 2016 article (a quick search couldn't find anything more recent) about Singaporeans visiting Malaysia - https://www.nationthailand.com/international/30286726 So even those numbers are still down.......hardly a "kicker".......
  8. Anybody else remember or use the Wiggle and Twist? Great for removing broken corks and I still have one at home. Called something else in the picture below - The open spiral corkscrews are generally safer to use then those with a solid spiral especially with older/dryer corks. Happy drinking
  9. If from savings accumulated before 1/01/24 no taxation due.
  10. Have you ever experienced water throwing in Pattaya after the 19th? It is like a big switch has been thrown and traditionally it just doesn't happen.
  11. Yes. if you notice it is eerily quiet compared to the last week plus - well it is here central/north Pattaya.
  12. Why don't you do a comparison and check? As long as you know what your bank will charge to send the equivalent currency and look at current exchange rate for your Thai bank for TT and any additional charges (500 baht possibly?). Then compare that amount to what you get from Wise. Nobody else can give you an accurate answer as they do not know all your specific details.
  13. Looking at the list of member countries I wonder how many years they think that will take? When you consider the next levels - OECD Accession candidates - 6 countries listed - Argentina (added 2022), Brazil, Peru, Romania, Bulgaria and Croatia. OECD Key Partners - another 5 names - Brazil, China, India, Indonesia and South Africa
  14. How much do you want to lose? I didn't even bother to look. Having expressed a personal view on your specific comment I am a little disappointed to then be effectively insulted. Since you know little about me I am intrigued by what is meant by
  15. I don't have and no I don't think its time. (for me)
  16. In case he hadn't noticed it doesn't matter what the law says if it is not enforced..........drink driving being a classic example.
  17. Same same. Had one trip 1 out of the 3 only 9 days ago at about 5.30pm. Being on a Saturday at that time I was prepared for it to take a while but in fact was fixed within an hour. Is a not irregular occurrence in the moo baan....... Cannot see how you can guard against it short of redesigning transformers.......
  18. Not trying to be pedantic but I think you are using words like domicile in a somewhat free and easy way. It is very difficult for UK citizen to lose their domicile in the UK - especially as regards IHT. As a non resident I can earn offshore income and not be taxed on it and as long as away, I think for 5 years, I can remit back to the UK and not pay any tax on it as well - as long as still non resident when doing so. My domicile does not change. The domicile bit I think is to do with resident for tax in UK but have foreign domicile and then they can pay in different ways - sorry if this is not what you were referring to. Agree with @Yumthai above.
  19. Thanks for the detailed reply. Having read through the first link I have come to the conclusion, that for me personally, there seems to be little point in trying to obtain an NT code......
  20. Sorry but maybe the late hour but can you elucidate at all on this? I know there is a way you can forgo your PA and not pay tax on UK divis etc but I thought you still had to pay on rental income irrespective? This is just DTA digest and for Thailand has been reported many times (by me) showing no relief for private or state pension so not sure of the relevance - other than if trying to claim a credit somewhere?
  21. That sort of speaks volumes.... Thanks. I don't suppose you have any more details on this or references I can look at?
  22. I suggest you read the article.........
