Incredibly bad security - Kbank App
Why would you want to use the same pin - have you never heard the advice about not using the same password on multiple sites...... You only normally have to use mobile data for the initial set up with the correct sim card - number already registered to your account. After that you should be able to use on wi fi including taking the sim card out and not having it in the phone - which is what I do with SCB app. The app may also be registering the IMEI no. of the phone as a further check - not sure on that.

tax free time deposit account for Immigration requirements
L&H fixed account I never used to bother. No problem with Jomtien Immigration. Last couple of years they have suggested I make a deposit of 1k which they add to it........ Along with the fact that you can withdraw the money at any time (with loss of interest) make "fixed" accounts here very different to what we may have been used to in our home countries.

TTB have announced the ending of internet banking in October
This is following SCB's lead so you may well be correct - in Thailand. I don't however see this happening in the UK in the near future.

April International - some premium increase analysis
From memory April Int My Health International has 5 different levels of cover from Emergency, then Basic and up to Premium. I have Basic (and I think @keithsimmonds has as well) but sounds like you have a higher level and hence would expect a higher cost. If not then you really are paying a lot........

April International - some premium increase analysis
Thanks Keith. I have a similar exclusion but it should not affect the premium. Presuming you have the Basic policy the same as mine then premiums are very different. In December 2021 at age 62 I paid 2,297.39 - which supposedly should be in same age bracket as your age 65 2021 premium at which time you paid less....... The increase from 65 to 66 seems 'reasonable' as changing bands and the 2023 price is significantly less than the price I was quoted which gives me some hope that was perhaps an error on their part. PS. The 3131 quote was I presume with $500 deductible or you negotiated a further discount?

April International - some premium increase analysis
I am hoping that the information below may help others who may already have or are looking at taking out April International Health Insurance or simply as a comparison to other insurance providers. This was in part driven after this thread highlighted some potential larger premium increases for me going forwards. https://aseannow.com/topic/1279120-april-international/page/2/#comments I originally only moved to April just under 2 years ago after David Shield/Passport Card whacked on a 30% increase mid band. At that time, end of 2021, April International’s premiums for their Basic policy of $500,000 with $500 excess were quoted by the broker as follows – Age – Premium % change 65 - $2,380 66 – 2,790 +17% 71 – 3,196 +14.5% As of last week when I was finally able to get April International to respond - Age – Premium % change 65 - $2,682.72 (Approx 8% over previous year) 66 – $3,743.25 +40% 71 - $4,347 +16% Premiums based on no pre existing and no claims. All 3 age premiums based on if I was renewing at that age today and in-patient only. I have queried the 65-66 age increase but no idea when I will get an answer. I know it is a change in the age bandings however it still seems very high and makes me question the small increase with the later age banding starting at 71. I also compared the Pacific Cross Maxima Plus 10m baht cover based on the spread sheet obtained from AA Insurance (from earlier this year and with no deductible and no outpatient) and at age 66 and 71 the premium differences over the previous bands were 37% and 49% respectively………Depending on which exchange rate you use the premium at 66 was lower in baht for PC compared to April Int. but higher at age 71. I know PC offer a no-claims discount as well. Just to further confuse the issue this is the very first reply from a customer service agent at April who specifically said – “For My Health International, we don't have "Age Bandings" or "Age Brackets" as mentioned. Our previous policies had it, but not our new ones. Prices according to the age are based on your exact age, and so increase each years instead of a great increase all 5 years.” This statement does not gel with the premiums given above in the latest reply. I would be interested in any other policy holders views on their premiums for comparison or simply corrections if I have used some erroneous figures/calculations. My attempted dealing's with April International have really highlighted for me the value that the then agent was able to provide especially in getting fairly basic information qualified. Unfortunately that does not seem possible now with a local agent. For completeness I have attached the pdf's from AA Insurance showing the comparisons of International policies in 2021 (I cannot seem to get a later version) and Thai policies from either late last year or earlier this year. 2021 10 Comparison top AA Health Plans Int 130121.pdfAA Comparison 1m THB plans v2.pdfAA Comparison 3m THB plans v2.pdfAA Comparison 10+m THB plans v2.pdf

Struggling to get Broadband in my condo and the lost engineer
Sounds like you are paying extra for installation which surprises me? Try calling the call centre. In my experience with True (all be it not in Bangkok) the store staff didn't seem to have any pull with the engineers whereas via the call centre very few issues. Very unusual for them to agree a call and then not happen for a week.

Transferring 45k UK to wife in Thailand
Almost certainly and so possibly will the Thai bank. If you have any thoughts on repatriating money at any point (and are sending to your account) it is worth saying it is for property investment or similar. Doesn't change anything or limit what you can do with the funds. OP you may well be aware but make sure you transfer in GBP and allow your or her Thai bank to do the conversion to baht. You will lose out if you allow a UK bank to do the conversion at their end.

Question for April International (France) Policyholders
You could try asking them to confirm that those specific hospitals are listed and say you will apply for the policy if they will give you written confirmation of that fact...... However what's allowed now and what will be in 3 years or whenever is impossible to predict. If it is such a big issue for you I would advise using other insurance.

Question for April International (France) Policyholders
@Richard007 This is my current concern with April International. I am an existing customer, but no claims and have been trying to get information out of them on future premiums in the last month using email and their response form in the customer zone online...... I finally had to resort to having to ring someone who said I would get a reply within 48 hours - it took a week and I have just replied with questions that were left unanswered. When AA Insurance (a broker here in Thailand) were able to interface it gave an extra level of help and consequently comfort. Unfortunately Thai based brokers are apparently not legally allowed to offer cover from International insurers so along with a change to ownership of said broker that leaves me more than concerned about using April Int going forward. That you seem to be in regular email with them sounds like a result but perhaps they try harder for potential new customers........ When I took out my policy 2 years ago I I think I asked about the "Hospital Network" and was reassured that it was a non-issue for me.

Banking Apps
Currently SCB do not offer facial rec to foreigners. They offer you a "waiver" that you sign to accept responsibility for any fraud or something like that and then after that is approved (other posters said takes a few days) you can transfer more than 50k. It is for all Thai banks. Some already offer facial rec to foreigners but not SCB. NB - happy to be corrected if this has changed recently?
