Have you been trying to get a shiny new car in Thailand? Then you’ve probably already heard of Carzuno. It’s one of the companies leading the way in the country’s long term car rental services, a trend that’s currently popular among expats in Thailand. That’s right, more and more expats are now choosing to subscribe to a car through Carzuno instead of buying or leasing one. But what’s driving this shift? Here are 7 reasons why expats in Thailand are switching to Carzuno for their driving needs. 1. Flexibility for frequent lifestyle changes Contents 1. Flexibility for frequent lifestyle changes 2. No administrative headaches 3. Say goodbye to service and maintenance 4. All-inclusive pricing 5. Easy and convenient process 6. Access to a wide range of vehicles 7. Help you overcome loan hurdles Image by senivpetro via Freepik Flexibility is key for those who experience frequent changes in their living arrangements, and that’s exactly what Carzuno offers for expats in Thailand. With subscription duration ranging from one month to 24 months at a time, you can opt out of the service without the long-term commitment of traditional car ownership. This means that you don’t need to worry about selling your car if you have to move between cities or relocate abroad. It’s also perfect if you only need a car at certain times of the year. Additionally, this flexibility gives you the freedom to swap your current car for a different model whenever you want. For example, if you end up not liking your initial choice, you can simply return it and select your preferred model once your subscription duration ends. 2. No administrative headaches Image by jcomp via Freepik Owning a car in Thailand means dealing with the annual rituals of renewing registration and paying car tax (as specified in the Land Transport Act of 2522 B.E), as well as making sure you have Compulsory Third-Party Liability Insurance a.k.a Por Ror Bor. Managing these requirements can be quite challenging for many expats. Aside from taking a lot of your precious time, language barriers can sometimes make the whole process a lot trickier. Since Carzuno handles all the administrative tasks associated with car ownership in Thailand, you are spared from the bureaucratic headaches. Therefore, you can enjoy all the conveniences of driving without the stress of managing these obligations yourself. 3. Say goodbye to service and maintenance Image by jcomp via Freepik If the idea of dealing with car service and maintenance in Thailand fills you with dread, then you’ll love Carzuno. They take care of all the nitty-gritty details of servicing and maintenance for you to make sure that your car stays in top-notch condition. Thus, you can say goodbye to the hassle of finding a reputable repair shop, scheduling appointments, and waiting at the mechanic’s shop. So, how does this work? The team at Carzuno will inform you via email when your car is due for maintenance. Then, all you have to do is arrange a date that is most convenient for you. However, if your subscription car prompts you for services before the team emails you, you can contact them via email and schedule your car’s maintenance. 4. All-inclusive pricing Image via Freepik The all-inclusive pricing is perhaps among the main reasons expats in Thailand choose to switch to Carzuno. Your car, road tax, comprehensive insurance, servicing and maintenance, round-the-clock roadside assistance, and even doorstep delivery are all covered in one fixed monthly fee, without any hidden cost. Plus, there’s no down payment or loan interest to worry about. So aside from your monthly subscription fee, all you gotta think about is usage-based expenses like fuel and parking fees. 5. Easy and convenient process Image by benzoix via Freepik The traditional route of buying a car in Thailand involves going through dealerships and paperwork, which requires a significant amount of time and energy. Getting your dream car through Carzuno, on the other hand, is as easy as a few clicks. You don’t even need to get out of your house for it. All you have to do is go to their website, browse through their selection, choose your preferred car, and sign up online. They provide a wide range of payment methods, too, including bank transfers and all major credit/debit cards. This whole process shouldn’t take longer than 3 minutes. After you request a car from the website, the team at Carzuno will validate your documentation and payment details. Then, they’ll deliver your chosen car right to your doorstep within 24 hours to 14 days. Moreover, you won’t have to start the whole process over again when you want to extend your subscription. Carzuno will reach out to you 10 days before your contract expires. 6. Access to a wide range of vehicles Image via Freepik Carzuno boasts an extensive lineup of cars featuring over 50 models all owned by their Fleet Partners. When you browse through their catalog, you’ll see everything from brand new to used cars and petrol-powered to electric options. This makes it easy for you to find the perfect ride to match your lifestyle, whether you’re looking for a sleek sedan to drive to business meetings or a spacious SUV to accommodate your family. Aside from giving you the option to choose a car that fits your needs, Carzuno’s wide range of car models also makes it super easy for you to get behind the wheel of your dream car. Let’s face it, we all daydream about driving fancy cars, but sometimes our budget just can’t handle it. Thanks to Carzuno, you can drive the latest cars with the newest technology in Thailand at a fraction of the cost of purchasing outright. 7. Help you overcome loan hurdles Image by wirestock via Freepik Even if you’re fine with handling service and maintenance, and you’re set on staying in Thailand for the long haul (so flexibility isn’t a big deal for you), getting a car loan as a foreigner here can be quite a headache. Sure, it’s doable, but there are hoops to jump through. You’ll need a solid local bank account and documentation like a work permit to prove your commitment. And to add to the challenge, approval often depends on the individual discretion of each bank branch manager. Only with Carzuno, you can hit the Thailand road in your new ride as soon as tomorrow. With these 7 attractive benefits, it’s easy to see why expats in Thailand are switching to Carzuno for their driving needs. If you want to experience the convenience yourself, visit Carzuno’s website and book your car. Sponsored

We all know that cars are expensive, but many are unaware of how much it really costs to own one. While many think fuel is the only cost to worry about, there’s actually a whole lot more to consider when it comes to owning a car in Bangkok. From maintenance to insurance, the hidden expenses can sneak up on you. Below, we’ve broken down the real cost of car ownership in Bangkok, and the better alternative option with Carzuno. Registration and tax Contents Registration and tax Other fees associated with car registration and tax Loan interest Insurance cost Compulsory Third-Party Liability Insurance (Por Ror Bor) Private Insurance Service and maintenance cost Depreciation The average fuel cost per month PHOTO: By xb100 via Freepik Committing to car ownership in Bangkok means you have to constantly renew the registration and pay for your car tax every year as specified in the Land Transport Act of 2522 B.E. The tax rate of a car in Thailand is calculated based on the engine size in cubic centimetres (CC). Cars with engine sizes of 600 cc or less incur a tax rate of 0.50 baht per cc. Engine sizes between 601 and 1,800 cc are taxed at 1.50 baht per cc, while those above 1,800 cc face a tax rate of 4.00 baht per cc. If the car is registered under a juristic person’s name, the tax rate doubles according to the specified rate. Cars that have been registered for over five years are eligible for tax deductions based on the number of years since registration. In the sixth year, a deduction of 10% is applied, followed by increasing deductions of 20% in the seventh year, 30% in the eighth year, and 40% in the ninth year. Vehicles registered for ten years or more receive a significant tax deduction of 50%. Keep in mind, however, that cars older than seven years from their registration date must comply with additional regulations, such as an inspection by a government-certified agency. The taxes collected by the government are allocated towards constructing and enhancing various roadways. The above tax rates and deductions apply to cars with seven seats. Different calculations apply if your vehicle has more seats or if it serves as a public transportation option. Other fees associated with car registration and tax In addition to the regular tax for car registration renewal, there are several other fees that need to be paid. When renewing online, a mail delivery fee of 40 THB is required. If you choose to use a Tor Ror Or inspection station, an additional fee ranging from 100 to 200 THB will apply. In cases where an inspection is necessary, the cost can vary between 200 and 300 THB. Failure to have an up-to-date registration sticker can result in a fine of around 2,000 THB per offence. Moreover, if your car tax has expired for more than three years, re-registering your car’s licence plate with the DLT (Department of Land and Transport) is mandatory. Loan interest When buying a car, most people rely on car loans to finance the purchase. A key component of taking out a car loan is the interest rate associated with it. The interest rate, determined by the bank, can vary based on their terms and conditions. In Thailand, car loan interest rates typically fall between 3 to 8% annually. This percentage represents the additional amount you will pay back on top of the initial loan amount. Therefore, it’s crucial to carefully assess this financial aspect before committing to buying a car. Failing to consider the interest rate could result in higher overall costs in the long run. Insurance cost PHOTO: By jcomp via Freepik Compulsory Third-Party Liability Insurance (Por Ror Bor) If you own a car or motorcycle in Thailand, you are required to have Compulsory Third-Party Liability Insurance, also known as Por Ror Bor, under the Road Protection Act. This insurance is mandatory and needs to be renewed annually. Por Ror Bor provides basic coverage for death and injury resulting from road accidents. The minimum coverage includes medical expenses up to 30,000 THB per person in case of injuries and 35,000 THB in the event of death or dismemberment. However, if you are not at fault in an accident, the coverage increases significantly. In such cases, the coverage extends to 80,000 THB for injuries and ranges from 250,000 to 500,000 THB for death or dismemberment. Additionally, there is a daily hospitalisation allowance of 200 THB per day for up to 20 days. Despite the comprehensive coverage options available under Por Ror Bor, it remains very affordable in terms of cost. For a typical car owner in Thailand, the annual premium for this insurance policy hovers around 650 THB. Private Insurance It’s important to note that Por Ror Bor alone may not provide sufficient coverage. Private insurance can offer additional benefits such as coverage for theft, third-party property damage, and accidents. In the Thai insurance market, private car insurance is classified into five types. These include Type 1, Type 2+, Type 2, Type 3+, and Type 3. Type 1 insurance is the most comprehensive and expensive, ideal for new cars as it covers you for all problems. On the other hand, Type 3 insurance is more budget-friendly but only offers coverage for third-party liability and injuries. The cost of private car insurance ranges from 3,000 THB to over 20,000 THB. This depends on the type chosen and the level of coverage required. Service and maintenance cost PHOTO: By Tim Mossholder via Unsplash One important factor to consider when owning a car is the service and maintenance costs, which can often be overlooked. Typically, servicing needs to be done every 10,000 kilometres, with an average cost of around 2,000 THB each time. During these service appointments, routine inspections are necessary for various components like the air filter, oil filter, and batteries. Additionally, changing tyres is necessary every 2 to 3 years or after reaching 50,000 kilometres. These costs tend to vary based on the age of your vehicle and how frequently you drive it. As your car ages, expect maintenance expenses to increase due to wear and tear issues. Moreover, you may also need to save money for repairs if your vehicle is no longer under warranty, as unforeseen issues may arise at any time. Depreciation Many new car buyers are unaware of the immediate drop in value that occurs as soon as their vehicle leaves the dealership lot. Unlike assets such as condos or gold, which can potentially increase in value over time with upgrades or market fluctuations, cars typically only decrease in worth due to wear and tear from regular usage. This essentially means that you are losing money over time. Depreciation typically ranges from 10% to 20% of the initial purchase price in just the first year alone. It varies based on factors such as brand reputation and market demand. To gauge the extent of depreciation on your car, consider comparing current resale offers for your specific make and model with what you originally paid. The average fuel cost per month PHOTO: By senivpetro via Freepik Another hidden expense to consider with car ownership in Bangkok is the average fuel cost. If you drive your car daily, the monthly fuel cost can range from 1,500 to 2,000 THB. This amount fluctuates based on several factors such as how frequently you use your vehicle, the current gas prices, and your car’s fuel efficiency measured in kilometres per litre. The more kilometres you drive each day, the higher your fuel expenses will be as a result. Additionally, varying gas prices across different stations in the city can influence the overall cost. Heavy traffic conditions in Bangkok can also impact fuel consumption due to frequent idling and stop-and-go driving. Considering these variables is crucial for accurately estimating your monthly expenditure on fuel when budgeting for car ownership in Bangkok. PHOTO: By Freepik Numerous hidden costs can quickly add up and catch many car owners off guard. However, opting for Carzuno’s car subscription service offers a convenient solution by including all these additional expenses in one monthly fee. With this car subscription service, there’s no need to stress about depreciation value, insurance premiums, loan interest, maintenance costs, or taxes, as everything is already taken care of. All you have to do is search for your preferred car, sign up online in 3 minutes, and wait for your car to be delivered to your doorstep – no down payment or loan needed. Carzuno’s car subscription service allows you to enjoy the convenience of having a vehicle without the financial burden and uncertainties associated with traditional car ownership in Bangkok. On June 9, 2022, Thailand made headlines as it took a bold step towards embracing the therapeutic potential of cannabis by enabling access to it for medical use. This monumental decision ushers in a new era of possibilities for alternative medicine in the country. However, as of February 2024, the landscape is evolving once again as the nation seeks to enact a new cannabis bill, one that would explicitly prohibit the recreational use of cannabis. But did you know that cannabis has been a big part of Traditional Thai Medicine for centuries? Yes, during the time of King Narai the Great of the Ayutthaya Kingdom, cannabis, known locally as “ganja” was a big deal in Thai Traditional Medicine. It was used as an ingredient in various traditional medicines until it was criminalized in 1934. Now, with all the talk about the legal standing of cannabis in Thailand, it’s fascinating to look back and see how it was used in traditional medicine – and its potential for the future. So, what was cannabis like back then? And how is it used today? To find out, we talked to khun Pornprom Amantrakul : a Thai Traditional Medicine Practitioner at CHA Dispensary and Tea Room and employee of Thai Stick, a local cannabis cultivation facility that focuses on the wellness properties of quality cannabis. PHOTO: Thai Traditional Medicine Practitioner at CHA Dispensary and Tea Room PHOTO: TTM Practitioner at Thai Stick Facility Contents Thai Traditional Medicine Historical Use of Cannabis in Thai Traditional Medicine Cannabis in Thai Herbal Formulas Community Knowledge of Cannabis Current Use of Cannabis PHOTO: Thai Traditional Medicine Before we talk about the use of cannabis in Thai traditional medicine, let’s cover the basics first. Thai traditional medicine is a medical science that has existed since the Sukhothai period, over 700 years ago. It has been passed down through generations by our ancestors from the past to the present. The principle of Thai traditional medicine is that when the body becomes sick or unwell, it is due to an imbalance of the four elements (earth, water, wind, fire) in the body. Therefore, the focus is on treating and balancing the four elements. Thai traditional medicine has four branches of treatment: Thai medicine (physical examination, diagnosis, and treatment of disease) Thai pharmacy (preparation of medicines, development of medicinal formulas, and use of herbal medicines) Thai massage (Thai therapeutic acupressure for treat symptoms, relax muscles, relieve pain, and stimulate blood circulation) Thai midwifery (care for pregnant women, childbirth, postpartum care, and newborn care) Historical Use of Cannabis in Thai Traditional Medicine In Thailand, evidence of the use of cannabis to treat various symptoms has been found since the Ayutthaya period, during the reign of King Narai the Great, in 1632. He recorded a book of medicinal herbs, formulas, and properties called “The Treatise on the Elements of King Narai or the Treatise on the Royal Medicines of King Narai”. Cannabis is one of the herbs frequently recorded in the book, used in various medicinal formulas to treat different symptoms. Cannabis in Thai Herbal Formulas PHOTO: Cannabis in Thai Herbal Formulas Cannabis used in Thai traditional medicine is mixed with other herbs. There are more than 200 recorded Thai herbal formulas that use cannabis as an ingredient. Currently, these formulas are still used and have been certified by the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine (DTAM) under the Ministry of Public Health to be effective in treating various symptoms. There are 5 main formulas out of 16 formulas: Ya Suk Sai Yad: ยาศุขไสยาศน์: This formula is used to treat general weakness, fatigue, and loss of appetite. Ya Kae Non Mai Lhab/Kae Khai Phom Luang: ยาแก้นอนไม่หลับ // ยาแก้ไข้ผอมเหลือง: This formula is used to treat insomnia and weight loss. Ya Kae Lom Kae Sen: ยาแก้ลมแก้เส้น: This formula is used to treat muscle pain and stiffness. Ya Kae Rok Jit: ยาแก้โรคจิต: This formula is used to treat mental illness. Ya Tha Rid Si Duang /Roak Phiw Nhang: ยาทาริดสีดวงทวารหนัก/โรคผิวหนัง: This formula is used to treat haemorrhoids and skin diseases. These formulas can be dispensed to patients in hospitals. Practitioners trained by DTAM suggest a gentle approach to using cannabis, advising small doses 2-3 times weekly with the option to increase gradually. This method is preferred over occasional high doses. They also recommend combining cannabis with other herbs and natural substances for enhanced therapeutic benefits, following the principle of synergy. Community Knowledge of Cannabis PHOTO: Community Knowledge of Cannabis In Thailand, there is also continuous community knowledge about the use of cannabis in daily life. In the northeastern region (Isaan), several households grow cannabis for cooking and seasoning. This is because the Isaan region is predominantly an agricultural society, where people need a lot of energy for their work. They also need to relax their bodies for enough rest to be ready to work the next day. Therefore, the use of cannabis in cooking is very popular in Isaan communities. Cannabis helps to relax muscles, reduce stress, increase appetite, and make food taste better. Current Use of Cannabis PHOTO: Current Use of Cannabis Today, cannabis has a variety of uses, catering to various preferences and health needs. It comes in forms like capsules, sublingual oils, topical products, balms, and teas. Moreover, it can be consumed in many ways, such as eating, smoking, topical application, and drinking. However, it’s essential to approach cannabis consumption with caution and under the guidance of knowledgeable professionals. This is particularly important considering the evolving landscape of cannabis legislation in Thailand and the complex interplay between its medicinal properties and potential risks. Seeking advice from specialists, such as doctors, pharmacists, and Thai traditional medicine practitioners who have completed the Ministry of Public Health’s cannabis medical training course, ensures that consumers receive tailored guidance based on their individual health needs and preferences. As Thailand grapples with significant shifts in cannabis legislation, it’s crucial to recognize the broader context of cannabis consumption. With policies changing, more research showing its effects on health, and a growing number of people using it for both medical and recreational purposes in the country, understanding how cannabis is used medicinally and how these new laws might affect its usage patterns is essential. Given the historical importance of cannabis in Thai Traditional Medicine and its modern applications, policymakers and healthcare professionals should take into account these changing trends to ensure that regulatory adjustments support public health goals and traditional healing methods. Their meteoric rise can be attributed to a combination of factors, mainly their top-quality cannabis and their dedication to providing a unique experience for their customers. Here’s everything you need to know about Four Twenty Thailand’s cannabis experience, from cultivation to the products displayed at their dispensaries. Cannabis cultivation at Four Twenty Contents Cannabis cultivation at Four Twenty Unique cannabis strains you can find at Four Twenty Immersive and inclusive experience for all PHOTO: Four Twenty Perhaps the most important aspect of the Four Twenty experience is the connection forged between the cannabis plant and the people who cultivate it. This cannabis dispensary grows their cannabis flowers using sustainable and ethical practices combined with passion, knowledge, and respect for the plant. The cultivation process starts with the careful selection of cultivars, each chosen for its genetic potential and desired characteristics. The plants are then sewn into nutrient-rich soil, where they germinate, root, and gradually develop into saplings. As the plants mature, they are meticulously tended to, receiving optimal amounts of water, nutrients, and light to encourage healthy growth. Four Twenty’s cultivation experts use a range of techniques to make sure the plants enter vegetative growth, pre-flowering, and flowering phases properly. These techniques include pruning, training, and controlling environmental conditions like temperature, humidity, and hygiene. The harvest, one of the most pivotal moments in the cultivation process comes at the end of bloom, once the plants reach their full potential. The cultivation experts at Four Twenty cut the plant into small sections and handpick the best buds. They then carefully trim the harvested buds to remove excess leaves. The trimmed buds are cured and dried to perfection, preserving their flavour and potency while also enhancing their aroma and texture. From there, Four Twenty’s team handcrafts them into various products, from traditional flowers to concentrates, edibles, and more. And finally, the finished products are packed and presented to customers, which you can find in all of their dispensaries across Thailand. Unique cannabis strains you can find at Four Twenty PHOTO: Four Twenty Dispensary Asoke After the process of nurturing and harvesting cannabis plants is complete, the next phase is delivering their products to customers. And yet all the news is taken from the Thai media! Perhaps the OP should vent at the source not the outlet. I do agree that the Thai media seems to favor and emphasise and often sensationalise on the foreigners activities more than their own people. Hey "don't shoot the messenger" 😀 As for "reporting on local news" yes, we do with 12 dedicated forums.

Is Swedish snus a good alternative to smoking in Thailand? Can snus be the snooze button for smoking? With approximately 106,000 people in Thailand succumbing to smoking-related illnesses annually, people are exploring alternatives in pursuit of a safer option. And for many, the answer is Swedish snus (pronounced snoose and rhymes with goose), a traditional Scandinavian tobacco product that comes in small pouches. Unlike cigarettes or vapes, you pop one of these pouches between your upper lip and gum to release the nicotine. It’s like a tiny teabag of cigarettes – no smoke and oh-so discreet. Snus isn’t a new invention, it has actually been used in Sweden since the 18th century. Now, as the debate over better alternatives to traditional cigarettes rages on, it’s quickly gaining popularity in Thailand with brands like Haypee offering a wide range of types and flavours. Some use snus because it’s seen as less harmful, others choose it for the sneaky factor. But is it truly a good alternative to smoking in Thailand? Here’s what you need to know about Swedish snus. What is Swedish snus? Swedish snus is considered one of the earliest novel tobacco products since it predates other alternatives like electronic cigarettes, nicotine pouches, and heated tobacco by several centuries. This smokeless tobacco product is made from ground tobacco, which is heat treated (pasteurised) along with salts and water, alkalised with soda, and then flavoured with natural ingredients and aromas before being portioned and packaged in tiny tea bag-like pouches. Snus is also available in loose form without the pouches. In Thailand, Swedish snus brands like Haypee infuse their products with various flavourings such as berry, lemon, mango, coconut, bergamot, and liquorice to enhance the taste. So, how do you use Swedish snus and how does it work? Instead of burning, you use Swedish snus by placing the small pouch between your upper lip and gum to release the nicotine. It will then be absorbed by your mouth’s mucus membranes and transported into the bloodstream. The time you keep the snus in your mouth depends on your tolerance to nicotine and your personal preference. You can keep it in your mouth for an hour if you want a stronger nicotine effect. But for a milder experience, consider removing it after just a few minutes. Once you’re satisfied with your snus, simply remove the pouch from your mouth and dispose of it in the waste bin. Although Swedish snus is typically placed in the upper lip, it can also be placed in the lower lip without altering its effects. What makes Swedish snus different from other oral tobacco products? What makes Swedish snus unique and different from other oral tobacco products is its pasteurisation process. The tobacco used in snus goes through a similar pasteurisation process as milk. It significantly reduces TSNAs (Tobacco-Specific-Nitrosamines) that are known to be carcinogenic (cancer-causing). Plus, the process also neutralised the microorganisms in the tobacco to keep it fresh. People often get snus and snuff mixed up since the two oral tobacco products sound similar. However, they’re actually two different products. Whilst snus is pasteurised and placed in the lip, snuff is a dry tobacco product cured by fire and is typically sniffed. Snus is perhaps more similar to nicotine pouches, but they’re also not the same. The key difference lies in their composition: snus contains tobacco, whereas nicotine pouches use nicotine salts. As for American dipping tobacco, although both are placed in the mouth, snus generally doesn’t induce excessive salivation. Therefore, you don’t need to spit while using it. Is Swedish snus less harmful than traditional cigarettes? Studies on Swedish snus are still ongoing. However, some researchers suggest that snus is a potentially less harmful alternative to traditional cigarettes because its pasteurisation process reduces cancer-causing substances known as carcinogens. Another study indicated that snus carries only five per cent of the harm associated with cigarettes. Dr Thomas Westin, a head and neck cancer specialist and associate professor at the University Hospital of Sahlgrenska in Gothenburg, Sweden, explains in an interview with Haypee that there’s yet to see a direct connection between Swedish snus use and head and neck cancer patients, despite its widespread use in Sweden. Moreover, Sweden also has one of the lowest amounts of lung cancer incidence and mortality rates in Europe, according to data from the WHO’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and World Health Rankings. This may be attributed to the use of Swedish snus. Yes, snus still contains nicotine, so it can still lead to addiction and has its share of risks. But it’s the other chemicals in smoking tobacco that increase your risk of lung problems. Since snus doesn’t involve burning, it doesn’t produce harmful tar and numerous carcinogens present in cigarette smoke. The Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks also found that snus use led to an overall risk reduction of nearly 100 per cent for respiratory diseases like lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and pneumonia. Additionally, it reduced the risk of cardiovascular disease by at least 50 per cent and decreased the risk of oral and pharyngeal, oesophagal, and pancreatic cancers by at least 50 per cent compared to cigarette smoking. Still, Swedish snus, just like any other adult stimulant, should only be used in moderation. Less harmful doesn’t necessarily mean healthy. Can Swedish snus help you quit smoking? Dr Thomas Westin suggests that Swedish snus could be a viable alternative for people who are struggling to quit smoking. Snus is credited for its role in reducing smoking rates in Sweden, with over half of Swedish snus users being former smokers. Additionally, a study conducted in Norway further supports this notion, indicating that Swedish snus use was helpful for people who successfully quit smoking. Where can you find Swedish snus in Thailand? Finding Swedish snus in Thailand used to be tricky, often leading people to resort to the black market. Fortunately, those days are gone now with the arrival of Haypee, a Swedish snus brand that provides a reliable and legitimate source for snus enthusiasts across the Kingdom. Haypee offers a vast selection of Swedish snus. You can find everything from traditional tobacco flavour to tutti frutti and spearmint. The family of a gay British-Mexican man detained in Qatar for alleged drug offenses has shared details about what they describe as a deceitful trap set through the gay dating app Grindr. Manuel Guerrero Aviña was lured into meeting a man who identified as "Gio" on the app, but upon their scheduled meet-up, he was instead met by police and arrested on dubious drug charges, according to his brother Enrique, who spoke to the BBC. Manuel, who is HIV positive, has reportedly run out of his regular medication while in custody. His family is now urging the UK government to intervene and bring him back to Britain for treatment. Amnesty International has criticized the conditions of his detention as "horrific" and pointed out numerous procedural violations during his trial. Human rights groups have echoed these concerns, while Qatari officials maintain that Manuel has been treated with respect and dignity. The arrest, which took place in February, officially cites possession of illegal substances. However, Manuel's family contends that he was set up, and that a small quantity of methamphetamine was planted on him. While in custody, Manuel claimed he was coerced into signing documents in Arabic, a language he doesn't understand, without legal assistance or translation. Moreover, he allegedly faced threats of physical abuse and was pressured to disclose information about other gay men, which he refused to do. Since then, he has been provisionally released and is awaiting further court appearances, but his passport has been confiscated, preventing him from leaving Qatar. The National Aids Trust and other advocacy groups are deeply concerned about his health and lack of consistent access to necessary HIV medication. Manuel’s case has highlighted ongoing issues faced by the LGBTQ+ community in Qatar, especially in light of the country's recent hosting of the FIFA World Cup, which brought increased international scrutiny over its human rights record. This situation underscores the risks faced by LGBTQ+ individuals in regions where their identity can lead to targeted discrimination and legal challenges. Based on an article from BBC 2024-05-07

The UK government has announced that new non-residential buildings in England, such as restaurants, shopping centers, and offices, will need to include separate male and female toilets. This proposed legislation, highlighted by Equalities Minister Kemi Badenoch, aims to address the concerns of women, elderly, and disabled people who feel disadvantaged by the shift towards gender-neutral facilities. The government’s consultation unveiled significant support for this move, with worries focusing on privacy and access issues in shared, gender-neutral settings. However, transgender rights advocates argue that gender-neutral bathrooms can help protect against discrimination faced by transgender and non-binary individuals in traditional male or female toilets. The new legislation is set to be introduced in Parliament soon and is expected to be implemented later this year if approved. While it mandates single-sex toilets, the regulation allows for the inclusion of universal toilets—self-contained units with a toilet and sink designed for individual use—where space permits. The decision comes after public feedback from around 17,000 respondents, with a vast majority supporting the need for separate single-sex facilities and the option for universal toilets when possible. This legislative change aligns with another recent government proposal concerning single-sex wards in hospitals, ensuring patients in England can request treatment in gender-corresponding wards and receive intimate care from staff of the same biological sex. Groups advocating for clarity in sex-based policies have welcomed this direction, emphasizing the importance of privacy, dignity, and safety, particularly for women and girls. In contrast, support organizations for transgender youth stress the need for safe spaces for everyone, advocating for the availability of both gender-specific and gender-neutral facilities to accommodate diverse needs.
