Your points on some of the causes of Tsunamis are correct, but if you read the post I replied to before, he was saying it was lucky for the beach people, when the Quake was NOT under the sea, but many kms inland and therefore no way for Tsunami generation. So next time you reply negatively be sure of what you are replying too and if you don't have the knowledge then best to zip it. Have a nice day.

Songkran Holidays are 13th-16th (extra day given on 16th this year). So immigration is closed 12th (Saturday) thru Wednesday 16th). And even if they do open on the 19th (Pattaya official Songkran day) it will be nigh on impossible to get there thru the chaos. Also the 7th is a Thai holiday (Chakri day).

Totally agree... I worked in Urumqi a long time ago, and even then the Chinese gave them hell. But since my time there it got a 1000 times worse with basic ethnic cleansing and Uyghur rights completely taken away. The moral of the story being that there is no way the Chinese would let the delegation near any dissidents. These people they meet are being told what to say, how to smile etc, under threats. Plus if you were basically imprisoned in Thailand in harsh conditions, you wouldn't be holding the captors hands and lovingly smiling...just utter PR silliness on the part of the Thai Govt that has probably made them a laughing stock with many countries.

Yes but now the IO has the option to grant that extra 30 days, which was probably fairly automatic with the 60 day free entry, as the Govt was pushing this. But now the Govt may give IO's orders to be more careful on the extra 30 days...or I might be way off base.
