Tourism Industry Backs Reinstatement of 300 Baht Tourist Fee
khunPer replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Actually makes sense, if you separates tourists and other arrivals. In the beginning I was very sceptical about a tourist entry fee, but I've changing my view due to the general Worldwide problem with over-tourism. It seems like the right track to focus more on tourists that can and will pay, rather than massive budget tourism. -

Officials Concerned Over Potential Overcrowding in Pattaya and Phuket
khunPer replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Over-tourism is a surging problem many places. Selling β the PM states that he is a seller β before the product is available is a critical issue; for tourism it's especially a question of infrastructure. And of course, the Songkran water wars should have lasted the promised 21 days... Some will not like this comment, but former PM Prayut Chan-o-cha was in a way on the right track with "quality tourism" β i.e. better off guests that can afford to spend some money instead of low budget mass tourism β however, how ro deal with it is difficult; entrance fee like in Venice or allowed number og visitors for various areas. -

Makes really good sense to help the "around 15 million financially vulnerable individuals, instead of the planned 50 million in its proposal"... In reality, if given to 50 million people, it's not a "gift" from the government, it's a loan that the population will need to pay back plus some level of interest...

Question about Tax status
khunPer replied to huberthammer's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
It's online now; so, they don't send you a tax return form by mail anymore. If you cannot find out to it online, you would normally be able to get help at the local tax revenue office; they might register you, give you a password and do it online for first time. You can download a tax return form in English and prefill, so it's easy for the tax revenue officer. The online tax return is available in English; however, some scroll down options are only shown in Thai language. Last date for tax return was 31st March. -
Sin sot and party costs usually reflects the status of the families β including the number of invited guest β so, you wife shall have good knowledge about it. Average costs really depends on status; so, average cost in which level. A poor couple's wedding might be a very modest reception, where the money guests bring pays for it all and more (I've experienced that). Higher social level weddings might be with a guest list for hundreds β or even a thousand or more (I've also experienced that) β guests; so, we talk about several millions of baht. In that view, 500,000 baht is not out of range. Dowry is a question of negotiation. Also, if part of the sin sot β or all of it β shall stay with the new married couple. I'm not sure if "Thailand is cheap", especially not when it's higher social level weddings. I've been invited guest at four weddings in those levels, and they didn't appear cheap at all.

A common problem that sometimes arise. Could be lots of things underway to Europe or US; higher than usual traffic, router down, or broken connection somewhere, so remaining open gates are overloaded. ASEAN NOW seems to have its server in Singapore.

I'm replying OP on OP's OP; I do't need to read all comments to do that, which is why I quote the opening post, so it's clear what I'm commenting. And you are very welcome not to read my comments, which will save you for of spending time complaining about my posts. khunPer replied to miaclarkson03's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
