  2. Better to build the roof to Thai monsoon standards than common Western standard... My fully Thai constructed roof, build by Thai workers, has so far been standing watertight 12 years and withstanding heavy monsoon rain - even a 100-year record - without any leaks...????

  8. Surat Thani Immigration - of which the Samui office is a branch - has an well working online system for TM30. The landlord or hotel will get an spread-sheet file (.xls) as receipt for registration. You can ask for a print of that, it's accepted by Samui Immigration, we house owners that self-register online, also use a print. You should be able to register TM30 yourself in person at Samui Immigration, we all had to do that once, bach when they began to ask for TM30-receipt when applying for annual extension of stay, thereafter we could continue online...????

  20. How do you know what's in use and not, various private companies own those wires that are not power. Easier just to leave them and drag a new line...

It's hard to judge how even the wall is from the photos, but you can sandpaper it - it's always advisable by professional painters to sandpaper plastered walls before painting - if it's even, then primer and paint will work. If not, you might need some skim coat. I would do two layers of primer with one day separation, wait another day and thereafter two or three layers of paint...????

  24. We that lives in Thailand are lucky compared to those who needs to pay for electricity in Europe, in my Scandinavia home country the rate differs depending the actual supply and demand of power and has in periods been around 40 baht per unit/kWh delivered to consumers...
