More Chinese Automakers Plan EV Investment in Thailand
Gsxrnz replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
China has hundreds of thousands, maybe millions of EV's mothballed in fields all over the country, Produced to receive subsidies and prove how green they are to the WEF. -
SangSom rum is cheap and cheerful. Every bar has it and it's 60-70 baht at the average Bar Beer. Sure, it's a quaffing rum. Taken neat, it's a bit rough IMHO. If you want a local gut-rot whisky, try Blend 285. Blended from imported whisky barrel dregs and ethanol. 285 refers to the octane.

Bargirl is one of the few AI-Proof Professions
Gsxrnz replied to save the frogs's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
The real issue is which gender the eventual universal AI identifies as. If it decides it's feminine, we're screwed. If it decides it's masculine, it will probably give the world a dose of actual reality where facts don't care about your feelings. Let's face it....we're screwed. -
Maybe it's the cologne? All jokes aside, I have never experienced anything like the OP describes. Quite the opposite, I find Thais very open and welcoming, and always up for a laugh or a joke. Not to say that they drive me mental sometimes. However, on entering bars, restaurants and song-taows, I am often in the position of having to be very selective of where I sit because of the look/dress/demeanour of some Europeans.

Pattaya Baht Bus Reportedly Hits Foreign Motorcyclist and Flees
Gsxrnz replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
From the full article. "In an interview with an eyewitness, 38-year-old Ms. Prinya Kamphaengphet, she said she was out for a walk when she noticed the injured victim racing side by side with a vehicle that resembled a baht bus." The dude was allegedly racing what "resembled" a baht bus. And ironically, she was just out for a walk at 3:30am. So...was it actually a baht bus, were they racing, and was she really just out for her morning constitutional? -
Just one step closer to soylent-green.

Just a thought - are any LED's lighting up when you hold the on/off switch in for 6 to 10 seconds? Maybe it's just the screen that's died.

Foreign food vendors reveal costly sticker payment scheme in Thailand
Gsxrnz replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
What he's really saying is that the juice isn't worth the squeeze. Welcome to Thailand. -
The size the OP wants is about the width of a Pringles container. That would make a Thai girl's hand look very small. Just sayin'.

I think a turned up collar on a polo shirt is probably only a minor fashion crime. A real fashion crime is the dude I see wearing a Rodger the Dodger (red and black) striped t-shirt tucked into green/blue/red tartan shorts, with a white belt, black socks up to the knees, and sporting platform soled roman sandals. This could be considered a crime against humanity - or at the very least a potential hazard to passing traffic.

Change OA retirement extension to O
Gsxrnz replied to fulhamster's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Cambodia Travel. On Soi Buakhaow opposite Holiday Inn. But shop around - any agent can do it and you might find a better rate. Try not to deal with the 30 something woman there - tends to be rude and lacks knowledge. -
I did that last time, but never again. After the travel costs, accommodation and food costs, and the inevitable "I meet some friends and go shopping costs", the exercise cost a freaking fortune. The only advantage for me was that I didn't have to breathe in 98 octane atmosphere for 2 days. An agent for me next time.

I suspect the real threat to crypto is the soon to be introduced Central Bank Digital Currency. My take is that the next major financial crisis (which is just around the corner) will trigger every major currency to wipe out paper money and traditional "banking", and introduce CBDC's. This is the WEF's wet dream coming true. The technology already exists and could be introduced over a long weekend. All it needs is a big enough financial crisis to convince the proletariat that CBDC's are the only lifebelt available. Paper money and your traditional bank account become valueless overnight. Putting aside the Orwellian ramifications of a government controlled and traceable CBDC (which will be the biggest impact on society since the internet and associated social platforms), the threat to crypto is that governments can restrict/limit/prevent/trace conversion of crypto to the currency du jour, being CBDC's. Essentially this means that converting crypto to a CBDC is totally at the discretion of the government. Unless of course crypto transactions become a million times more acceptable and transactional. But even then, if a government decrees that you cannot buy or sell crypto with a CBDC, it makes the market very restrictive. And of course we all trust our governments. Am I right, or am I right?

Scammer Tells Police: Thais Most Gullible In Asia
Gsxrnz replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
My missus used to get a multitude of calls from some legitimate companies (insurance, car companies, retail companies etc) and also what were obviously scammer calls from dodgy lenders or some pyramid scheme. I would listen to her repeatedly say she didn't want the product or service, and often the phone calls lasted 10 minutes or more, with her occasionally almost giving in to whatever their pitch was. I mean, she even listened to the pre-recorded type of calls, FGS! After one particularly tedious call from an insurance company, I asked her why she didn't just end the call. Her answer - that would be rude and impolite. The next 4 or 5 times she got calls, I grabbed her phone and ended the call, after saying FO to the caller. I think It may be possible that the Thai class and hierarchical system system that enforces "respect" is the reason so many Thais are sucked in. They find it difficult to say no, or be so rude as to end the call. And then because they actually listen to the pitch, that's when they get brain fade and see the chance to make a fortune, and go all-in! Missus now automatically ends any call, and she gets very few now. I suspect her number is being deleted from their databases. -
Change OA retirement extension to O
Gsxrnz replied to fulhamster's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP - I recently shifted from OA to O by using an agent. I landed without a re-entry permit on a valid OA. I already had the seasoned 800K, so got a discount on their usual rate. It cost me 19,900B. I've managed my own renewals for over a decade and never had an agent before. But I really just could not be fagged with multiple visits to the Jomtien IO, especially with how stupidly busy they were at the time. Got everything done in 3 weeks, and effectively got a 15 month permission to stay with the tourist visa and 12 month O being back-to-back. -
Pattaya to Open Dongtan Beach Road to Traffic 24-hours a Day
Gsxrnz replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
I reckon the real reason for this decision is that the BIB checkpoints on Thappraya are getting too busy and blocking traffic. So they open up the Dongtan road and voila, another excuse for a checkpoint, and dilute the Thappraya traffic flow. -
Pattaya is Finally Removing Unsightly Electrical Wires off Walking Street
Gsxrnz replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
If you want a depressing experience, stroll down Walking Street in daylight hours. Removing cables won't turn a sow's ear into a silk purse. -
Don't worry, intersectionality will eventually be the downfall of this alphabet soup coalition. The LG's are already at war with the T's. And the T's are at war with the TERF's and traditional F's, and the LG's and TERF's seem to be on the same page of the gender war. It would appear that the LG's, the TERF's and the F's agreeing that a woman doesn't have a penis really annoys the T's. I'm unsure where the Q's, A's and 2S's stand on this issue, but strongly suspect they're in bed with the T's.

Thai farmer capitalises on high demand for grasshoppers
Gsxrnz replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Grasshoppers are probably a tastier alternative to cockroaches, which if the WEF gets it's way, we'll all be eating. They'd probably prefer to feed us soylent green but they've been too successful at ensuring a looming population decline. -
Stolen iphone got sold to electronic shop, what now?
Gsxrnz replied to abaganov2's topic in General Topics
99% probable that somebody saw you putting the phone under the bike seat and nicked it. Tea-Leafs don't go randomly opening bike seats hoping for treasure. A bike seat lock can be popped with a screwdriver or a damp piece of lettuce. A lesson for us all. -
Is it the texture of the plaster that is the problem? The existing walls may have a rougher (or smoother) texture than your repair. Try using things such as a sponge or a paint roller on the wet material to achieve the matching texture. Also, don't plaster a perfect rectangle. Plaster over a greater area in a haphazard or random shape. This makes it harder for the eye to pick up any irregularities.

Foreign Man Who Brutally Stabbed His Friend Surrenders to Pattaya Police
Gsxrnz replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Kudos to him for not stabbing the driver with the motorcycle in motion, thus averting a possible road fatality.
