  1. I totally agree with you a ridiculous price, for a thoughly boring picture.

Picasso is a different kettle of fish,a great Artist, and if you study his pencil and charcoal drawings, you will no doubt appreciate his talent!

I suspect he took the Art world and critics for the no nothing pretentious idiots they were, and produced nonsense modern Art, and when he died they found over 26,000 rubbish Paintings,in his basement.

Sometimes he would go down to his basement, and knock out two or three hundred paintings in one afternoon. To keep the the price up they were released one at a time.I don't believe anyone can turn out that quantity, without sacrificing the quality.but it was not about quality, merely parting the rich from their money,a straight forward Con,that the Mega Rich gladly succumbed to. After all, while you have a painting on your wall with a trianglular face, one eyeball, and a skinny neck, which cost £500,000,then you know you have made it.

imho Picasso was a wonderful real Artist, but more of a Joker/Pisstaker.

Andy Wharhol, was a talented Graphic Designer, but I can't say I have seen any sign of the traditional meaning of Art from him.

  2. he will be back and do no time in prision , any Democratic leader ousted in a Coup should have that right. All western countires have the democracy so why not thiland. i for one along with millions of thais will be happy he has his passport back and does return home. the nation is so biased, must have Murdochs infulence in there some where.

Democratic leaders that break the law still should go to jail.

should, but don't. Nixon pardoned by his former VP, and more up-to-date, this :

Chirac guilty of embezzlement, but avoids jail

At the moment, I cannot think of a single former Head of State in a democracy who has served time in jail ...

    Totally irrelevant ,

Two wrongs do not make a right!

And comparisons with other Countries former Heads of State, does not excuse the lawbreaker.

In any Court of Law,such an argument would not be acceptable, as a plea.

  3. I have seen many Bathroom Door frames rotten from the floor several inches up!

The frames that are cut short,do not rot, because they are not submerged in water, from semi blocked bathroom drains.

The rot problem is also why many Bathrooms have Plastic Doors.

  4. I get this Phishing Scam from the so called Halifax, on a regular basis,

The Scam is easy to spot, as I have never had a Halifax account.

If you can Email these Scum thieves? then why not give them your very best verbal abuse, Start your email with something like: Hi Slimeball, references to Family Ancestry are quite in order,so are their sexual deviations, and as much topics of an unpleasant nature as you can dream up,....................the rest is up to how good your abusive abilities are!

Remember, you are dealing with the worlds Crooks and Trash, who deserve all they get!

  5. Hi bob,

Do you mind if I ask the cost you paid for the ESOL course? I don't think my wife is at a level where she could pass the LITUK test so I think the ESOL route is going to be her best option. I've tried emailing our local college as they do list the ESOL but have not had a response. It's early days for my wife (only been over here 3 weeks) but I don't want to leave it too late to get something sorted

    Regards

From other Posters on Thai Visa, the course fees vary around the Country. the advancement from one level to the next, after the initial assessment, should not take longer than 3 x 12 week terms and the cost in my area of the Country is £90 a term.and plus £20 Exam fees.

Which will produce ESOL and City and Guilds Certificates. You must clarify with the chosen College that the Course contains Citizenship Materials/Attachments,and that they will give you a Accredited College letter to confirm that,at the end of the course.

The Certificates (ESOL C&G) come in 3 Parts, (an exam at the end of each term) so you can reasonably judge if your wife is on target to pass in 3 terms.by how difficult, she finds the course, If she should fail the 3rd part for example, she can take that part again.

You are correct, to start thinking about ILR as soon as possible.

  6. Care to enlighten us with what you would have done different in the crisis?? I see all this negative and have not seen any solid alternatives to the flood situation

To start with, she should have taken control of the situation herself, not had, from one day to the next, a different government expert, or a different government official, or a different government minister, making announcements on the government's behalf. What we needed was a leader who could stand up and say, "ok, this is what we are doing". Not someone who spent the vast majority of the time going round looking for good photo ops. Not someone who started weeping. In crisis you need someone strong to take charge. I don't think she did that. Do you?

Sorry for being rude in my earlier post.

Maybe she should have ordered all her ministers to keep quiet, but hey have you ever tried herding cats?

I think she did stand up and say, we are flooded but we cannot let inner BKK flood and she stuck to her word on that

I don't think she was looking for photo ops was she? More like she was out and about trying to get a grip of the situation, visiting places to see for herself.

As for weeping, well she was probably upset, frustrated and angry about all the shit on her shoulders and all the slagging off she was taking, she's human after all. Sir Winston Churchill also wept a lot and he was a magnificent leader in troubled times.

All in all and in retrospect I think she's done a great job and I wish her well.

Good comparison Winston Churchill was a good leader but a military disaster and alcoholic.

By Historians accounts,he was a military disaster in WW1,but by the time WW2 came around, he had learned a lot, and was a great militatary stratagist, which the British people owe him a lot,for his knowledge

  7. Yes, she certainly seems to be floundering. Maggie Thatcher she ain't! And THAT is what this country needs, a strong leader to clean up Thailand, rid it of corruption, change the cultural thinking from being reactive to being proactive, and really bring this country into the 21st Century.

She cannot do what Thatcher did because there is no similarity with the UK under Thatcher; she cannot destroy the heavy industry that Thailand does not have and concentrate on "service industries" which for the Baroness meant the City of London; I also doubt that as a Thai she would claim that there is no such thing as society.

Some people forget that whatever she did for the UK, Thatcher created a huge amount of damage to areas outwith her core constituencies and used the newly-profitable North Sea oil revenues to pay the unemployed

Agreed, even though you have ruined my day,by the mention of Thatcher :)

Someday I hope to see a Thread on Thatcher, there are many Myths and Lies, and the extreme damage she did to the British People, that the misguided Thatcherites need to address!

Sorry to have ruined your day by mentioning "The Blessed Margaret" as Norman St.John-Stevas called her and it is way off topic but the implication in sausageandmash's post that she rid the UK of corruption is nonsensical given the scandals over defence contracts in her administration, not to mention the role of her son as a "facilitator" for UK business in the Middle East. What does the UK sell there?

    Armaments! by the alleged facilitator!

  8. Yes, she certainly seems to be floundering. Maggie Thatcher she ain't! And THAT is what this country needs, a strong leader to clean up Thailand, rid it of corruption, change the cultural thinking from being reactive to being proactive, and really bring this country into the 21st Century.

  9. Love these boring forums where so many people get wound up, :D it's all just fun and as I keep saying it's banter, some posters do get very angry though and retaliate with rudeness and name calling, love it !!!

    +1

It would definately become boring if we couldn't have some Banter and Disagreements and that includes no Complaints too,............that some members would like to see happen.

Fact of the matter is: sanitize a website/blog too much, and watch the membership interest and ratings plummet!

  10. Pee Ess:

Talking of politicians meeting felons: didn't both Presidents Carter and Clinton have ne'er-do-well brothers who brought them some embarrassment? (I think Carter's brother was caught peeing in a public place, so that doesn't make him, as far as I know, a felon.) Didn't JFK do business with the Mafia? Didn't Thatcher's son get into trouble in southern Africa? Didn't Gaddafy give the LSE a lot of money? (slightly embarrassing in light of recent events).

Show me a clean world on this side of the turf.

Actually its P.S not Pee Ess

    and Gaddafi not Gaddafy

as you are so fond of correcting posters!

Sorry to extract the MAJIC, but the Pee Ess is being taken.

    Thank you.

    Precisely.

I have seen Ghaddafi spelt a myriad ways, but I have never seen (before yesterday) the word "moot" mistaken for "mute". Perhaps MAJIC (ah, those shouting capitals turn me on so much) should put me on MUTE. That would solve the problem of having to receive public vocabulary lessons.

Pray enlighten me,where have I ever used the words:Mute and Moot? or for that matter mistaken the two?

  12. She told me the land was registered in her father's name because she doesnt have a blue book and it appears that to register land in your name, you needed to have a blue book?

This all sounds very dodgy. :whistling:

If she has no Tabien Bahn, then how does she have an id card?

How did you manage to get legally married at the amphur office?

At the very least she will be on the Tabien Bahn of her parents.....

I don't think we, or perhaps you, are getting the full story.

    Agreed.

Something definately doesn't sound right, including the Gold, failing to make an appearance?

And is it just me? or does 310,000 Baht sound too much for half a Rai of land? in the boonies.

  13. Fact: Blair and Brown were very experienced Politicians and long standing MPs,before they became Prime Ministers,

and it is highly unlikely Yingluck will be around as long, as the inexperienced???? previous and current world leaders, that you quoted.Believe it or not Experience does count for a lot!

Whether she met her Brother in Hong Kong or not, remains to be seen!

Oh dear, what a ramble (severely truncated here in my "quote"). she is supposed to have met Big Brother in bleeding Singapore. wake up at the back of the class.

As for EXPERIENCE. Yes indeed, the "experienced" Bliar and Brown (they sound like undertakers) both shared in bankrupting the United Kingdom.

How many dead in Iraq? How many billions spent on nuclear weapons? How many now unemployed (though the "experience" of Cameron and HIS clique has to be dragged in here.) And how do Brits like seeing their PM (Bliar) popping off to Texas and being the poodle/lapdog of one of the truly most corrupt politicians of all time.

If this kind of "experience" is what you value, God help us all.

It's weird how people can blindly lambaste the Thai PM, but yet blindly accept the lies and vanity and general <deleted> of the British "ruling" class. Ah, but I keep forgetting: the latter have "experience" on their side. Long live B&B. (but thankfully no longer as operating politicians.)

    MAJIC:

Well at least Hong Kong got you focused back onto the real Topic, and not Rambling and Whittering on about Blair,Brown, and Obama, who you claim, came into Politics and became National Leaders, with no previous Political experience. Which is utter and complete nonsense!

I am not going to get into arguments about Blair,Brown and Obama, unless you wish to start three new seperate threads, but I suggest you brush up on your Political History knowledge before you decide to do so.

And of course Yingluck may very well be telling the truth that she did not meet her Absconder Brother in Singapore, but there are plenty of other places for a meeting though?

Finally whether you accept it or not, those with Qualifications,Skills, and Previous Experience, are the ones who normally get the Job. Except if someone else with the power pulls the strings, and hands out the Job on a plate...... to the Novice "Clone"

Don't waste your time arguing, she will not be around that long,to gain the necessary experience!

  14. Didn't they already say a few weeks ago that the flooding would be gone by the end of November? If I'm not mistaken, they even gave a date.

Nope, you are mistaken or confused or both.

What is it with you guys? Why slag her off all the time, she kept inner BKK dry which of course was of utmost importance.

It would have been a calamity if all the basements and Underground MTR stations flooded, have you thought of that?

There is no way K.Yingluk was responsible for the flooding, she is the elected leader and she deserves a chance.

Inexperienced I hear you all cry, so TF**k what. How about the western leaders? Obama, Blair, Brown, the french prick (forget his name) are they any better? No they are much worse.

Give her a break, only in Thailand could a lady so sexy, hot and seemingly useless be elected leader. Cease your constant whining and enjoy the dry weather before the next rainy season hits, then you may start complaining again if the floods recur.

I think your beliefs are way out of date i.e

Tony Blair has been out of office for over 3 years,

Gordon Brown has been out of Office for near on 18 months, and relinquished the Labour Party Leadership shortly after losing the Election of 2010

But do feel free to carry on and blame them for Yingluks lack of leadership and knowledge,if you must.

BnB set the ball rolling didn't they, now its hurtling downhill and out of control. Farcical leadership.

Yingluk, well she's only a puppet (and a hot one at that) she deserves a chance, look at the options, what would you prefer here in the Kingdom?

    Good question,

well it wouldn't be her Brother for a start, and while she is PM,and her Brothers self confessed clone, there is more chance of him coming back.

which is her only purpose in being the PM of Thailand,as well you should know.

  15. Didn't they already say a few weeks ago that the flooding would be gone by the end of November? If I'm not mistaken, they even gave a date.

  16. I can't fathom this stupid hatred for the PM. What is this "experience" that she has supposedly not had??

    Experience in what, for fksks?

If you look around you at all the "experienced" world leaders what do we fkn find? That Putin was head of the KGB (Ok, I grant that was some experience), or the PM of Italy is a stooge of Goldman Sachs (ditto the new PM of Greece)....not a single moment's "experience" among them. Or the Republicans were about to push forward a guy, Herman Cain, whose only experience appeared to be in taking his trousers off three times a day after meals. Very able guy.

    Shall we go on?

What experience of actual government did Tony Bliar have before he got into a position to ruin the UK? (Ditto G. Brown).

So, why this stupid sneering at a woman who has had at least as much "experience" in business as some of these a**h*les the world so admires. Leave her alone. It's so boring. Predictable. Have another beer.

Tony Blair and Gordon Brown have both had almost a working lifetime in Politics, and were both longstanding MPs before they both became Prime Ministers of the UK. So no comparison with Yinglucks experience then!

Your comment about ruining the UK is also a debatable point of view.

IMHO, a "working lifetime in Politics" is not worth a rat's arse when it comes to making decisions. Why not ask the families of dead soldiers in Iraq what they think of Bliar's great experience in throwing sand in people's eyes? (Weapons of Mass Destruction, in UK in 45 minutes!!!!!!) Lies, lies, lies.

Or ask the 2 million unemployed (and rising) in UK what they think of good ol' Gordon's love affair with the banks and the City of London all those years. Socialist? Give me a sodding break.

Yingluck is no better, no worse, than any other politician who comes into office without obvious qualifications for the job. What ARE the qualifications a politician needs? Just to lie as smoothly as possible while robbing the till. (Maybe have some nooky on the side?) And if you want to see what Americans think about "political experience" just watch sweet Newt Gingrich being trounced by the current pres next year.

A nice attempt at going off on several Rambling Tangents, which doesn't negate your original statement, concerning several other world leaders having no previous experience in Politics.Discussing the quality of their leadership, would take up several very long new Topics.

Fact: Yingluck came into Politics without a shred of experience...... And in my opinion, now shows up her lack of leadership abilities, very badly.

  17. I am proberly going to get a ripping for posting this, but somebody has to stand up for asbestos!!

    KEEP ASBESTOS BAN ALCOHOL

riding a bicycle can give you testical cancer

    smoking gives you cancer

    drinking can give you cirrhosis

silica dust can give you sillicosis

breathing bangkok air must be a killer!!

driving a car can kill you

crossing the street can kill you

there is more danger in dealing with petrol than asbestos

    electricity can kill you

    water can kill you

    sun can kill you

    sun can give you cancer

eating to much food can kill you

More people die from war every year than asbestos do we ban war???? no we go and make it!!!!

in scotland there is a death every 6 hours as a result of alcohol, that is just wee little scotland should we ban alcohol? how many people come into contact with asbestos and die, as opposed to alcohol. I dont drink as a rule but I know that I can still die because of a drunk driver, I have more fear of drunk drivers than asbestos!!!!

leaves the question of what cant kill you ????

I know that asbestos can be a killer but only if dealt with wrong, hey so can a chainsaw and a push bike!!!

the list goes on, and as for break pads so now we use kevlar products well what a supprise that is now a topic for cancer.

    what is safe???????

Germany has banned all mineral oils as they cause cancer but not vasiline... petrolium jelly, then we take vasiline and use it on our babies!! Diesel has been linked to cancer.

I sit under a asbestos roof every day and I dont stress, as there is more danger from walking down the road than from the roof!!!

now dont get me wrong I know there can be death as a side effect I am not saying it is a safe product, but most weed killers are not safe but you dont have a problem with your mother using them!!

I look at the amount of asbestos used in this world and wonder how bad it really is, how long has it been used???

it is even safe enough to eat!!! if you handle it properly then you wont have a problem, you proberly have more chance of dieing in your sleep than dieing of asbestos but we dont ban sleep!!!

personaly I think it is a great product, and I bet it has saved many more lives that it has cost. there are not many products like it and there is not much that can replace it.

one has to ask how much of the media hype has killed this product? how bad is it really?

how many people have died because of asbestos and how many people have died whilst having intercourse?? are we going to ban that to?????

now in saying that I will proberly die as a result of asbestos exposure, ok

people tell me that smoking will kill me, so I ask the simple question, so if I dont smoke does that mean I wont die???

the interesting thing is that with the advance of medical science we no longer attribute death to natural causes we give it a reason, and because of all those reasons we look at things different, we look at everything as a killer.

well the cold hard facts of life are that even the purest of people WILL DIE!! its just a case of what we die of!

you can try and life a clean life and stay away from asbestos and all the other things in life that may kill you but to do that you have to live in a bubble, not leave the house and pray that the house doesnt burn down or a drunk driver come through your wall!

people be nice asbestos isnt bad, its how people use it that is bad !!!

ASBESTOS DOES NOT KILL PEOPLE DO

well this posting should get a few people worked up and know doubt I will be told how bad I am and how missinformed I am. but I I am a realist!!!! go and have a moan about nucular fuel, we put that in a container that is safe to drop it from 50 ft, then we load it in a plane and fly it at 30,000 feet !!!!

welcome to the real world people products have been killing people for years, some of the biggest killers are the everyday things, Beer, Cars, Smokes but the biggest killer of all is living !!!!

"ASBESTOS DOES NOT KILL PEOPLE DO"

Considering the average life expectancy for African Asbestos Miners was 30 years of age,you obviously know nothing of the Health Risks.

Why do you think most of the World has banned it?

  18. The government recently 'banned' the use of asbestos, but of course there is no enforcement worth mentioning and the local attitude to health and safety issues is a miserable disgrace. So whoever started the poll on 'is asbestos dangerous' could I make something entirely clear to you: There is NO DOUBT WHATSOEVER that it is VERY dangerous.

If you are a sceptic, just Google James Hardie asbestos.

    And Cape Asbestos,

    And Turner and Newall (Rochdale)

    Highly Dangerous to Health!

  19. I can't fathom this stupid hatred for the PM. What is this "experience" that she has supposedly not had??

  20. This sounds like yet another excuse for yet another Go Home Thread.

Or roughly translated if you don't like being scammed,or have legitimate complaints,

then don't discuss it,keep your mouth shut and "Go Home"

Your translation, not mine... I asked: "What are your positives here? Why is there so much negativity? I am happy! Why aren't you?" And I will refrain from responding to the negativity of your comment...

My Positives are: Thailand is for the most part,a wonderful Country to live in,but one must understand, there is no place on the Planet that is a perfect Paradise, and there will always be grievances, and things that could be improved on,and everyone should be allowed to air their views, good, bad,or indifferent.

Don't take it personal because everyone is different, and relate to Thailand and find it acceptable on a different level than yours, with some of their own personal provisos, thrown in,and their criteria of judging happiness, may also be different to yours (or mine)

Good Luck with your thread, and I hope you find some answers!
