The bold is simply not true, the Thai police are under more scrutiny than ever before to keep their hands clean, the days of openly bracing passersby for tea money are finished, and some very big fish have been gutted, including high ranking officials in the police, military, government and even some close to the royal family.
Back in the day ...the notion that a Thai family as powerful & connected as the Shinawatra, the head of the family on the run from corruption charges while his sister is being put to the sword and humiliated in a public trial .....would simply be unthinkable.
So, while yes I agree there are lots more to do ..to say nothing has changed is simply not accurate.
You don't get out much do you. Plus you apparantly do not understand a purge when you see one happening under your nose.
The police remain an uncontrolable (and unprofessional) force. They know where too many skeletons are buried. They remain untouchable.
This entire thing has been about removing the Shins from power, among other things that one cannot talk about.
Nothing really HAS changed, only the names of the players. There has been some reshuffeling, but that is about all. Oh, and as for democracy, that is gone, at least for the forseeable future. Meet Prayut, your 'leader' (and I use that word VERY loosely) for the forseeable future, barring the Thai people growing some cajones and staging a mass uprising.

What a farce. Every time the RTP open their mouths, all they do is make matters worse. It certainly seems like they are running scared. Now they are threatening people too, so it must be true since they are trying so hard to silence everyone.
Didn't the grand high general tell us he staged this coup to reform Thailand and rid the country of corruption? So why no attempt to reform the police and judicial system? Retorical question, by the way.

Go on them, let's see a link to a university study demonstrating that no Thais have empathy or morals.
Look around you and see what is happening in and to Thai society. Corruption rules everything in this country. Just read a few recent headlines and then you prove to me that Thais have morals and ethics, especially those in power.

How about naming the scumbag, and his father.

I suspect the real plan is to keep procrastinating until he drops dead. At that point they will announce case closed as he is dead.
Brilliant plan.

Sign a vow to behave? What is this kindergarden? Oh right, Thailand.

Yawn. This is news?
News will be when the police and/or military grow the cajones to actually enter the wat and arrest the criminal in saffron (assuming he is still there, which I highly doubt).
-
Police reform, anyone?
-
As usual, the actions of the RTP are suspect. How much longer must this country and it's people suffer this criminal corrupt organization?

It's the driver stupid.

My son has dual citizenship. Thai and Canadian.

They have not solved the songtau problem. They are sill making travel on any road they use near impassable as they stop anywhere they want, and often two or sometimes three deep.
And Sukhumvit is still an absolute mess due to the construction.
-
He urged the commission to address issues that pose an obstacle to national development and set the country on a course of reform with clear priorities.
Police and judicial reform anyone?
Never going to happen, of course. Such reform would severely upset the applecart for the elites.
-
And what of the criminal in saffron? Is he just allowed to continue chanting away in the corner as if nothing has happened?
This whole country is beyond belief.

Here's an idea... Make films people WANT to see.

This has to be a Not the Nation article. Right?

Until the RTP are brought to their collective knees, Thailand will continue to be a 3rd World country. I agree with Smedly above, Prayuth must act decisively, ruthlessly and soon.
Decisive action? Won't happen. Far far too many vested interests at play here, and the far too many skeletons in too many closets.
Prayut had the opportunity to do something when the Koh Tao murders happened. He did NOTHING. Worse, he actually commended the police for doing a good job and gave them a reward. THAT was when I lost all hope that things would change in this country.
Let's face it, Prayut is just a puppet for the elite.

So departure times are now dependant on the tides? That does not seem like a very good business model for a ferry.

What sort of a brain dead person wears a 120,000 baht gold chain, in Pattaya, at night? Common sense would tell you that flashing an expensive gold chain is nothing but a magnet for thieves, especially in Pattaya.

19 months? So now it's going to be the end of 2018, at the EARLIEST? More likely get pushed back to sometime in 2019, or maybe even 2020. Oh well, many were saying maybe 2020 anyway.
Thailand. What a joke. Pathetic, is really the only word that comes to mind.
-
Like this is going to happen.
And in 6 months?
And even if it did happen, the same idiot drivers would ending up driving the new mini-buses.
So nothing would change.
Why is it that Thais can never seem to think through the problem, but ALWAYS come up with dumb knee jerk reactions.

Wow, this 'service' is off to a really good start.
I wonder how long before it folds?

Just another dumb-ass Russian. If you ask me, it's the Russians that are giving Pattaya a bad name.
