  1. Why Samui? Why an island? Long time ago when I decided to live in Thailand I also thought about Samui. Exotic island, beach, all nice and quiet. And then I looked at reality: Everything is more expensive: Transport, entertainment, hospital, etc. And if you are seriously sick then you need medical transport to Bangkok. And then there are all those tourist, many of them forget on which side of the road they are supposed to be. If you still want to go there, then try at least a few months before you make expensive decisions.
  2. Now what could this be about? Is it maybe related to the name Shinawatra? I want my daddy back in Thailand. I don't know what to do without him. And I wouldn't do this stupid job if it wouldn't be because of him.
  3. It won't take 4 years for PT and their coalition to self-destroy.
  4. How can anybody give a clear answer to a party which has officially three candidates for PM and all of them have to follow the instructions of the not so hidden criminal owner of the party. And then there are of course the promises from before the election which are now not important anymore. How can anybody answer: Do you support any of our candidates when he will do anything - independent of what we promised? I think it's best if MFP is in the opposition and let the others f#$# it up. There is no possible good outcome in a cooperation with PT.
  5. Just throw him alone in a dark hole where nobody will find him. Give him twice a day water and rice. Problem solved.
  6. If I would buy a new PC (NUC, or others), I would buy 16GB RAM or more. If there is not enough RAM, then that makes a dramatic difference. The CPU is very seldom used to the max. And with an existing PC it is easy to see how much RAM is currently used. Just a sample:
  7. It depends on what you do. For most people the most basic model with do the job. Tell me/us what you (want to) do with your computer, and I will give you a recommendation.
  8. Lots of YouTube channels are (consistently) good. And many are bad. I find it annoying that some people take videos from others, maybe edit them a little, and then post them themselves (to make money). It would be good if we could automatically ignore those useless edits. And then there are these idiots who "explain" what experts explained already. Idiots making videos for other idiots. One of my favorites is Colin Furze. He has consistently great videos since many years.
  9. This is why my gf gives me 20B when I give her perfume. She "buys" it from me and that negates that rule. This principle seems to be normal with lots of Thai women.
  10. I never counted the non-alcohol days or promised I won't touch it for x days of weeks or whatever. If you do this, then it seems you have a problem with alcohol. I don't know how common this is, but for me it's like this: If I feel like drinking wine or beer or whisky, then I do that. Maybe I drink a glass or two, or maybe more. It depends on my mood and how I feel. If I drink with friends in a bar, then I might drink a lot. And at some point, my body will tell me: That's enough! And then I stop. That's it. And likely for the next days I don't want to drink any alcohol. And maybe a week later I do the same. Or I don't drink at all. It's a how do I feel about it today question. What's the point of making plans not to drink for 3 weeks? P.S.: I know one guy who has a reason to tell himself not to drink for 3 weeks. He owns a few bars and being there with friends and customers who get drunk or are drunk is difficult when sober. His solution is to go "to work" but don't stay until "everybody" is wasted.
  11. It seems important to you so let me answer: I once wrote that my gf is watching sometimes stupid things on her tablet. And sometimes I see that. Yes, that is a fact. Also, the fact that I don't have a TV doesn't mean I don't own any computer which allows me to watch videos. In fact, I own several PCs, tablets, notebooks, smart phones. I work with computers. And I watch videos to learn something and get entertained.
  12. It seems it depends on the food. We have a (expensive) computer rice cooker. Once the rice is cooked a timer shows how long ago it was finished and the rice is kept on (eating) temperature. Only after 24h is the timer blinking that you should not eat the rice anymore. 23h is still fine. And the rice still tastes good. There is lots of food which I would never reheat. But Thai curry (gang xyz) is something that can be reheated several times and it still tastes good. Maybe it tastes even better a few hours later. When we have something like that for lunch and we don't eat it again in the evening then mf gf cooks it for a minute in the evening and then again in the morning and it is ready to eat. It still tastes very good. I never eat food which I don't like, and I wouldn't eat any of this if I would think it is not good anymore of if it doesn't taste good anymore.
  13. I think step 1 and 2 are ok. After that take a girl, <deleted>$# until you are tired, and that was a good night out.
  14. I thought about what happened and the reactions here one more time. I think bouncers should and (mostly) will react differently to different situations. I.e. if a guest doesn't want to pay his bill, then the bouncers will likely just hold that guest until the police arrives. There is no need for a fight. But if someone (guest or whoever) physically attacks a bouncer or maybe a girl in the bar, then I think a physical reaction is only fair and should be expected by the aggressor. In this situation, looking at the video, it seems first they only talk. Probably the Brits could just have walked away. They didn't. They started a fight - and they got their fight.
  15. We are not in the west. In Thailand Thais react the way Thais react. Do you see Thai guys slapping a bouncer in the face? They don't do that because they know there are consequences. You seem to defend someone who started a fight with someone else and then he (or you) complain that the guy who was attacked is not fighting fair. Really, is that a problem? Let's say someone would slap me and then he would sit on the ground and tell me: I am sorry, I won't do it again. Should I just stay there and tell him: Sure, no problem. Or would you understand if I would hurt the guy who attacked me so that he understands there are consequences and he should never do it again? I have to admit I was never in such a situation. Most people are perfectly capable to avoid fights.
  16. If the bouncers would have killed him, that would have been overreaction. They didn't kill him. He could still walk. That was no overreaction.
  17. I wonder who is defending the misbehaving tourists in this forum. If nobody would misbehave, then there wouldn't be bouncers - not only in Thailand. And in Thailand the bouncers make sure that the offenders get the message and don't do it again - at least not in the same bar. No mercy for <deleted>. Kick them and throw them out. Nobody will miss them.
  18. The headline should be: Thai bouncer retaliates after Brit slaps him in the face. There is nothing shocking about that reaction. Action, reaction. It's not too difficult to understand.
