  1. I wonder how that works with Thai guys. I wouldn't be surprised if many Thai guys would love to show that they are able and willing to also invite her friends. Like: No problem, I can afford that. I think sometimes the line is not so clear between what is polite and what is too much. And in some cases, when we think about a permanent relationship, then maybe we are happy for opportunities to give her friends a chance to confirm that she met Mr. Right.
  2. I don't want to brag, but over the years I had hundreds of "meetings". I don't think any girl ever cared about the light on or off or whatever.
  3. Too old, too young, what rocks your boat? Maybe I can find something just for you. ???? Maybe you like Elianeck's creations
  4. But I wouldn't rely on the idea that they count the payment for the food as down payment for other services.
  5. I never played in the online dating world. From what I hear and read there are just lots of different expectations. If two parties just want to have sex, fine. If someone wants to get paid, also fine, if that is clear from the beginning. If people are looking for a long-term relationship and maybe marry, fine. If people like to go on a night out and then let's look and see, up to them. But if the expectations are different then it obviously becomes difficult. Personally if I want company for a few hours, I go to gogo-bars. There is no misunderstanding what everybody expects.
  6. It should be easy. But looking at the Thai visa application form there are a couple of confusing questions. Until now I lived and worked in Thailand, with many years or Non-B visa (extensions) and work permit. Now I end my employment with one company, and I will start an employment with another company in maybe two months. In between I want to stay in Thailand, in my condominium. And because there is no better word or option for it, I guess I am a tourist for that time. On the application forms are questions like: a) Current Address b) Permanent Address c) Purposed address in Thailand d) Name and address of local Guarantor e) Name and address of Guarantor in Thailand I guess a) is the hotel in Phnom Penh which I visit. b) and c) is the address of my condominium in Bangkok (same as permanent address and as tourist destination)? And who is the Guarantor? My girlfriend? My banker? I am confused. Any help or any idea who I should ask? P.S.: Years ago, I applied in the same embassy for a business visa. I did that without a problem. But then, someone else prepared all the documents for me for that one.
  7. In my experience the razors from 7/11 are just fine for that purpose. And I am sure they are a lot cheaper than lasers.
  8. And maybe he still would have thought he had a great night...
  9. That reminds me of when the elder sister of my gf died. It seems she had borrowed some money from a local loan shark. It was recommended to me to better pay... Would it be enforceable in a court of law? I guess not. But ...
  10. Are you sure you would want to argue about that in Thai court?
  11. Yeah, sure, for private cars. At home? Or only right next to the local power plant? What can possibly go wrong? ...
  12. And because she doesn't want to that's it? Do you want to do for the rest of your life what she wants? Do you need to face serious trouble before you make your own decisions? Grow a pair. Do it!
  13. The doctor's fee is normally low. Some medication is cheap - and some is not effective. Some medicine is "expensive" and you won't get it for free. Some doctors recommend buying better medicine. That obviously doesn't mean that all medicine must be expensive, and it also doesn't mean that expensive medicine = good medicine. But sometimes it makes sense to pay extra.
  14. And he writes just above your comment:
  15. I have to admit I am stunned by this and similar posts. If you would not be married, would you ever have thought about moving to Korat? From Phuket? I find it very hard to imagine such a move. So let's assume without the wife you would never move to Korat. Are you sure you want to change your whole life, possible for decades, according to what your wife wants? Maybe she is the greatest wife of all times, and you do everything for her. But I wonder how long it will take before the resentment takes over. I am only in this place because of you... Somehow I see difficulties in the future. But maybe that is only me.
  16. Did anybody (except small children) who walked on that ship think this is safe and a good way to travel? Did they all think that they can bring themselves in danger and then others will rescue them? Did they expect to be rescued? Why? It's like playing Russian roulette and expecting that all will be fine. What a stupid idea! Lots of people all over the world live in conditions which they don't like. And many try to make the best out of their situation. Only few risk everything. Why should the rest of the world reward those people who take idiotic risks?
  17. It's a long time ago. But I don't think so. It was one of those "do you drink? do you smoke?" questions which every doctor seems to ask routinely. I never had a liver problem or anything else that is typically related to alcohol. Since I discovered that entry in my hospital records, I am very careful with volunteering information which can be misinterpreted.
  18. I know enough about electrical engineering to understand the kind of current which is necessary to charge a big battery in 10 minutes. Where do you get that from? From the socket in the wall?
  19. If you think charging 21 hours is a reasonable alternative compared to stopping 10 min on a gasoline station, then please think again. Or if you like it, just do it. I certainly won't.
  20. I don't think it will be the future. Maybe it will be the near future for the next 10 or 20 years. But I am sure there will be better alternatives, in the future which is a little further away. Heavy batteries which need a long charging time will never be the best solution.
  21. I only eat when I am hungry. Most of the time that means a big breakfast and then maybe something in the afternoon - whenever I am hungry. That works fine when my gf is up country. But when she is with me: Morning: I am hungry. Lunch: I am hungry. Evening: I am hungry. Worst case is when I am somewhere in a meeting with Thais and the meeting isn't over yet at 12:03. Big problem! Everybody is starving.
