Anti-slip tiles vs other types of floor tiles
OneMoreFarang replied to FrederikKitten's topic in DIY Forum
I think they are R-rated, but I don't remember where I saw that rating. The following picture is from the installation. Not finished or cleaned. I think it shows the rough surface. Like I said: With water and barefoot, no slip at all. I also tried with water and soap and barefoot, and that is still slippery. But by far not as bad as many other tiles. And these tiles have no sandpaper feeling at all. But I don't know how to describe it properly. The tiles are on show in Boonthavorn. -
And in a way I think that makes sense. If there is a problem with the bike, even a simple problem like it doesn't start, then the rental company don't want to send a technician hundreds of kilometers away, maybe even to return the bike on a truck.

I will tell her to report. I mean, it can't be soooo difficult. ???? -
Anti-slip tiles vs other types of floor tiles

It seems Thais, and probably not only Thais, love that shiny look. The entrance of my condominium building is one of those examples. Shiny tiles. And finally someone discovered that they are a huge risk when wet. And what did they do? Put some ugly blue plastic mats on the beautiful tiles to "solve" the problem... -
Thanks for all your comments. My questions is/was really only about the cables. I know enough about all the LED versions and how to install them and control them, etc. Currently I use 24V LED strips in one area. Maybe I use 12V in another area and it could even happen that I use 5V somewhere. If I use 12V instead of 24V then the current will be double and if I use 5V it will more than double again. With 2.5sqmm I am ready for whatever might come. And for these kind of cables there is no such thing as too thick. If I install 2.5sqmm now, then I never have to worry again in case I change my mind later which voltage I will use. And yes, I know then I need another power supply. And for anybody who wants to learn about any aspects of LED lights I recommend this website. The guy also has an interesting YouTube channel. https://quinled.info/

At that time I just asked and got a verbal answer, I didn't follow up. Maybe it's in the written contract. And if it in that contract and someone uses the bike somewhere else and there is an accident then there might be bad consequences. Personally I wouldn't do it.

Thanks, I just contacted them per LINE. If necessary I am willing to buy 100m.

In some areas that is possible, in others not. I will install some LED lights along the walls on my floor. I prepared already pipes for the cables in the walls up to the floor. The power supplies and controllers will be in the ceiling. I want something like similar to this.

Thanks for your comments. I know I don't really need 2.5sqmm. I like to use that "thick" cable to lose as little of the voltage as possible. In one area I have likely 5meter to the left and 5meter to the right and if possible I like to feed it with just one cable. It could be max about 10A. I mentioned 1.5sqmm because that is obviously an option. But it seems that is also not easily available. It is also possible that I will use in some area 12V, and that doubles the current right away... @Crossy Thanks! I just contracted Bangkok Cable on their website. Let's look how they react.

Anti-slip tiles vs other types of floor tiles
OneMoreFarang replied to FrederikKitten's topic in DIY Forum
Finally my floor tiling is done. The whole indoor floor are anti slip tiles with "rough" surface. I like it. IMHO it looks good, and it's easy to walk on with or without shoes and it feels comfortable with bare feet. Even with water on it and no shoes the feet don't slip. I would do it again. http://www.guocera.com/product/broadway/1325 Until now I didn't live in that apartment, and I never cleaned the floor. Above are just my first impressions. -
I will install (24V) RGBW LED strips in my apartment. Sometimes it is necessary that the LED controller is a few meters away from the LED strips and I need some cable in between. The cable needs at least 5 strands. 2.5sqmm should be good for what I need, 1.5sqmm is possible but not optimal. Unfortunately, I don't find any 5x2.5 cable anywhere (online). I can live with flexible or not so flexible cable. It should be one cable and not 5 separate wires. What are my options? And where to buy it online or anywhere in Bangkok? I guess I could use xxx-G 4x2.5/2.5 cable. But I don't like the idea to use the yellow/green earth wire for anything but earth. Thanks

Decent hotel that's quiet but can walk to see nightlife.

Go in the afternoon to Soi 6. Some (innocent) wives have this idea that naughty action can't possibly happen at daytime. So you can call her at 7pm: Darling, I am tired and am watching TV in the hotel... -
IKEA kitchen assembly DIY or let them do it?
OneMoreFarang replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in DIY Forum
I get your point. I guess it makes me and others feel better to buy a product with a long warranty. I.e. if I buy computer parts and some offer 5 years warranty and others 1 year then I will buy more likely the parts with 5 years warranty because I think/hope that their quality will be better. But sometimes it's surprising that some companies really honor their warranty. I remember my mother had a set of pots which had lifetime warranty (I forgot the brand). Maybe 20 years after she bought them, she contacted the manufacturer and told them about damaged or broken handles. And what happened? The manufacturer sent her a new set of handles - maybe two decades after she bought the product. Respect. -

I gave up trying to understand those strange people over there - and not just related to kitchens and warranty. -

That sounds to me like typical condition from almost any product. I think it's not fair to expect warranty if the product was installed incorrectly or used incorrectly, etc. I.e. if someone "cleans" a product with the wrong chemical there will be damage. That's why it is always a good idea to read the manual. And lots of the above conditions are also not covered it an IKEA team assembled it. And realistically, who expects to use a kitchen for 24 years and then tell the manufacturer: Look, there are some scratches, and the color also doesn't look new anymore. I want a new one... -
I was there the last time about 25 years ago. They just started to build a street to the "last" beach. We got there with motorcycle taxis and for the whole day we saw maybe 5 other visitors. It was beautiful and kind of paradise, especially considering that it was only maybe 1h away from Pattaya. I never bothered to go there again. I am sure paradise is gone. And I don't want to go there and think about how beautiful it once was and it will never be the same again.

Red Bull case: Former senior prosecutor discharged from service
OneMoreFarang replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I guess we will never know but I would really like to know how these things happen. Does someone approach those officers and tell them they could be rich. Or do the officers speak with some people and offer their service? Or is it not even necessary that anybody talks with anybody else? Because the officers know already that they future won't be bright if they put the "wrong" person in jail. And probably they also know already that their future will be much brighter if they do the "right" thing. Maybe a promotion. Or suddenly this nice house is for sale for 1/2 the price, I am sure things happen. -

IKEA kitchen assembly DIY or let them do it?

I only know about IKEA. The have various legs and they have covers for one kind of legs. Then it's up to each individual what they want/do. I like the idea to cover the front of the legs with an easy removable cover. If i.e. insects are under there it should be easy to clean. Here is one video what that was part of the installation series. -

Here are all the details https://www.ikea.com/th/en/cat/metod-kitchen-all-parts-ka005/ They have 25 years warranty. But until now I didn't read the fine print. I remember IKEA from "back home" from many years ago and at that time it was furniture for people who couldn't afford anything better. Maybe a year ago I watched some YouTube videos about IKEA METOD kitchens. It seems everybody thought they are good quality for the price and it's a very modular flexible system. If anybody would want that custom made in real wood then (I guess) it would be a lot more expensive. I visited IKEA Bangna two times. They have a huge area which seems to show all the different kitchen parts and options like 20 different door types and styles and colors, 20 different kind of grips, and and and. It was also useful for me to go there with my small < 150cm gf so that we could see which cabinet height she can easily reach. First conclusion: Her head is lower than the upper cabinets, no worry about injuries. And my head is maybe in the middle of the upper cabinets - also no worry about any injuries. ???? -
IKEA kitchen assembly DIY or let them do it?

In case you missed it: The possible problem is that the IKEA guys, or any other installation guys, do bad quality work. That is what this discussion is about. DIY slowly and carefully with little experience and with the goal in mind to make something nice for my own home. Or get it done by someone else who's interest it is to get it done quickly, get paid, move on, and never see that installation again. The perfect situation would be to get it installed by someone professional who is proud of his work standards and does a careful job. Finding someone like that, especially in Thailand, is the difficult part. -
Just in case you think about the option of renting a big bike i.e. in Pattaya and then riding around Thailand. No, they don't allow that.

This shows their usage. Because of that wide range and the two parts they can be installed when the lower cabinet is hanging on the wall. I also had a look at the nicer looking legs. They don't have that functionality.
