  1. Thanks. Until recently I thought ACs come empty and then someone must connect the pipes and put "gas" in them. It seems I was wrong... About the Thai manuals: It seems this model (series of) is only sold in Thailand and until now I only saw Thai manuals on paper and for download. I will ask Daikin if they have an English version. If there is no English version, then I will look for the English manual of a similar AC from Daikin and read that one. And then I am pretty sure I will work out the differences. The basic functionality should be obvious. But I like to read manuals because sometimes there are additional functions which are not obvious.
  2. I think you make the mistake that you think that they actually think the tax cut is a way to solve the recession. That is what they say and what they tell the pubic it is the reason for their action. But is it? IMHO Truss and others wanted to reduce the tax for their sponsors and friends. But obviously they couldn't just tell the public that that is the reason for their action. So they made up some kind of reason which could somehow be interpreted to make sense. Or in other words: politics like usual.
  3. Maybe the mayor should publish how much those beach vendors have to pay the authorities to be able to do their business on the beach. Maybe those vendors are overcharging. But maybe they only do that because they have to pay huge amounts to the authorities, especially under the table.
  4. And lots of people in the rest of the world are worried about American peoples' mental health, especially those 70 million... Americans decided they want to choose between an old senile guy and another, not much younger, crazy serial liar. What can we expect from people like that?
  5. I have to admit I know more about international politics than my neighbors. But is that really important? I.e. I am able to discuss Trump and Biden and Boris and Putin and the war in Ukraine, etc. And then? Can I change anything related to international politics? No! I can talk about is all day and my talking won't change even 0.0001%. Now let's look at my gf: She doesn't care about international politics. She cares little about Thai national politics. But she knows the village head of her village. She also knows the neighbors in her village (which she visits every couple of weeks). She also talks with the hairdresser, laundry lady, the maids and some other women in my condominium. In fact, if I want to know what is going on in my building, I ask her. Maybe she doesn't know all the details, but she knows for sure a lot more than I know and then I would be able to officially find out. Now should I look down on my gf and all those other Thai girls who don't care about international politics?
  6. How about an article about the qualifications of Paetongtarn Shinawatra, age 36. What did she do in her life until now? Was she already responsible for a big city or small city or at least a village? What qualifies her to be PM of a country with over 70 million citizens? And do those Shinawatras have super genes that all of them seem to qualify for the top job? Are all other Thais not as smart as the Shinawatras? And did anybody consider that two former Shinawatra PMs are now wanted criminals. Is it a good idea to vote for another one from that family?
  7. That is what happens if a PM is selected by only 160,000 people. Just one of those links with more details. https://inews.co.uk/news/tory-leadership-contest-vote-who-can-how-many-conservative-members-full-voting-timetable-1752096
  8. 1 out of 10 is not too bad. ????
  9. I don't know. I don't use the regular size. I have to import the comfortable XXL. ????
  10. Some of those woke people are actually not stupid - in general. But it seems somehow they didn't use their brain concerning their woke believes.
  11. That's how it's explained in the manual... I just bought a kitchen sink and faucet. And in the instruction manual is explained that the faucet should be connected to the sink before the sink is installed in the kitchen cabinet. I didn't read any further to find out what to do once it's installed. ????
  12. Imagine a Thai person would live in the UK and write a will in Thai language. And then the person dies and someone official should read the will. Do you think that official will be able to read Thai? qed
  13. If it would be the governments job, would it ever happen? Someone has to do it.
  14. And make sure you mark them clearly as backup and make sure you don't edit anything in the backup folder. I know too many people with too many backups and all are different from what they actually wanted to backup...
  15. The guy who takes care of the work permits for our company takes pictures of us in front of the entrance with company logo on the wall and maybe working on a computer (in my case). I don't remember any visits from authorities in the office at all - but I guess that can be different.
  16. Interesting. I am no expert. Would you mind explaining that? As far as I understand it, the idea is that grout is rough (compared to tiles). For that reason, it is not slippery. If you have "normally" one grout line maybe every 30cm then feet don't touch much grout. But if there are grout lines every 5cm then this means a lot more rough grout compared to smooth tiles which should make it non-slip. Or not?
  17. Thanks. I see the contractor regularly and sometimes I received updated plans. But until now I didn't talk to him about every single detail. And I would be very surprised if he would record every detail. It seems some builders have sometimes crazy ideas to "optimize" what they should do. If we are lucky then we discover these changes. But I am sure there are things which are not according to plan and which we didn't notice. Currently I take almost daily lots of pictures with changes of that day. So I should be able to see some details even if I didn't really notice them in time.
  18. As far as I know that restriction does not exist anymore. I think that was changed a couple of years ago. But sorry, I don't have a source or link.
  19. Currently I renovate my condominium from scratch. Mostly one contractor does the job. And he has teams for walls, plumbing, etc. I guess that is standard procedure. And the contractor has drawings how things should be build and, hopefully, how they were actually built. I am mostly satisfied with the work in my place. But I am not so sure if the builders do everything exactly like plan. And I am also not sure if the contractor checks this in detail and documents this in detail. An example: Water pipes and electrical pipes/cables are normally straight down from the ceiling to where they are needed. It they are straight down then that is easy. I.e. later we see a water stop valve below the sink and, if the ceiling is visible, we see a water pipe exactly above at the ceiling. That is best case scenario. But sometime things are more complicated. I.e. I have a water heater below the kitchen sink. That also supplies water to the bathtub, which is on the opposite side of that wall maybe one meter away. Where exactly is that pipe? Now I made some pictures while it is still in construction. If I wouldn't have these pictures, then I wouldn't know where that pipe is. I want to know all those details in case I want later, maybe after years, i.e. drill a hole in the wall. The new water pipes are plastic, so I won't be able to detect them with a metal detector. I am sure many people here built their home or renovated their place and then, after years, think that they should have documented certain details which they and the contractor forgot to document. Which information/documentation do you miss now which could have been easily done when your place was built? Here are some of the things which I think are important. Please let me know if I forgot something. - fresh water pipes - waste water pipes - electrical pipes and cables - drains for ACs - AC coolant pipes - sprinkler system (should be obvious to see) - different wall types (i.e. maybe there are old walls with hollow red bricks and new walls with lightweight bricks. They need different anchors. - mark similar cables. I.e. I color coded the outside of some electrical cables to make it easy to see which cable is which. - what else?
