  1. What preventive anti-insect measures can be done and should be done in a new build or renovation? I am renovating my condominium. Currently I have concrete floors and bare walls. Soon we will do MEP work and tiles and lots of other things. And then a kitchen will be installed and a wardrobe, etc. In my experience it doesn't take long before insects find all those dark and hidden places and like to make it their home. In some areas it is possible to clean and disinfect those dark areas. But in other areas like i.e. behind build in appliances or a big wardrobe it is very difficult to impossible to look behind them and clean and fight insects. What are good measurements to fight against those insects? What can be done in advance? I.e. does it make sense to put a small plastic hose along the wall and pump anti insect spray through it from time to time? Or paint those areas with some anti-insect material before installing a wardrobe? It's my first big renovation and I have no idea what to do about those problems. What did you do or what do you think in the hindsight you should have done?
  2. Thanks Good that there are still some models with RAM modules. And for the record: If it would be up to me and probably up to you we would change some things about those computers. Or maybe we wouldn't change them and keep them in the way they were 10 years ago. But obviously it's not up to us. So at the end of the day the best we can do is select "the best" of what is currently available. I am not a person who things ThinkPads are the best invention ever made. They are not. But they are on top of what is currently available - at least IMHO. And I have long term good experience with them, i.e. drivers for models from years ago. Maybe other brands end their support pretty soon. And if a brand/model seems to be ok now that doesn't mean they are still supported in a couple of years. This is why I rely on my past experience and I look at the details of what I buy new.
  3. A diesel generator is certainly much easier to install and operate.
  4. How about some details about what you think is not so good anymore. Personally I also liked the original keyboard more than the "new" one. But the new keyboard is still very good - just a little different. Obviously there are cheaper and more expensive ThinkPads. I have to admit I never tried the cheapest once. I don't know how their quality is different compared to the better models.
  5. I have a lot of good experience with ThinkPad computers - and no bad experience at all with them. The problem is in the moment that only few of them are available within a week or so. This one https://www.lenovo.com/th/en/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpad-p-series/ThinkPad-P16s-16-inch-Intel/p/21BT004YTH shows that is has HDMI output. Fans and temperature can be an issue - if you need the power. They are obviously all temperature controlled and if they don't get too hot then the fan is off or runs on low power. It seems you know what you are looking for. I suggest look at the details. I.e. some ThinkPads have RAM only soldered in and you can't replace it or add more. Others have RAM modules. If you need LTE (Internet like mobile phone access) then some models have this and/or can be ordered with that functionality. It's not even expensive. But it is expensive to impossible to add it later. ThinkPads have also good support options like i.e. Premium Support on site for up to 5years, additional damage support (if you drop it), etc. It all cost extra but the prices are reasonable. Last but not least I don't see any alternative which is as good as the ThinkPads.
  6. Follow this link, that's all you need to do. https://www.lenovo.com/th/en/d/deals/think_series?sort=sortBy&resultsLayoutType=grid&visibleDatas=facet_Brand%3AThinkPad%3Bfacet_leadTime%3A2 Business Days%3Bfacet_leadTime%3A6-9 Business Days%3Bfacet_leadTime%3A3-4 Weeks%3Bfacet_Memory%3A16 GB%3Bfacet_HardDrive%3A1TB or more%3Bfacet_Processor%3AIntel® Core™ i7 vPro®%3Bfacet_ScreenSize%3A16.0"
  7. Do you really need to ask? Ok, I play along. If I would look for a new gf then I would be interested in a pretty, young, innocent nice girl. And because I am not so young and handsome anymore she must be looking for ONE guy to take care of her and who she will spend her life with - maybe for a year or two or maybe for longer. The alternative for her would be that she would prefer to get money from many guys providing service to many of those guys. She wouldn't be innocent for very long. I don't need an experienced gf, I can teach her all the things which she need to know myself. And what I definitely don't need is someone who learned how to manipulate guys with a phone full of "contacts".
  8. Your logic might work for 90% of the girls. But maybe you are lucky and you get on of those 10% girls who are happy to make an older guy happy - and never work in 7/11 again. There are certainly enough girls who don't want to work (in jobs like that).
  9. Currently I don't look for a replacement of my gf or a gig. But talking to bar girls it seems enough of them worked preciously at 7/11 or Swenson's or something like that. I told myself I will keep that in my mind for the future. Better get the girl out of 7/11 before she starts working in a bar instead of waiting until she started in a bar.
  10. Recently I was with an older Thai guy in a bank (to collect million THB checks). He openly flirted with one of the cashiers and ask her for her number. Like: I need personal advice and I want to call you. She kept a straight face, probably it wouldn't help to tell a customer to f@$ off. I have no idea if they ever met.
  11. Just do it! Does it matter if other people think it's ok or not ok or whatever? Personally I have this from time to time. Most of the time it starts with some joking about this and that. I.e. I buy some chocolate and they tell me another chocolate has a special price. "Do you like it?" "When I buy 2 and get 3 do you share it with me?" I think it doesn't take long to realize if the wanted one is interested to talk or not? If she wants it go for it and if not then don't try again and again. Ask for here LINE ID or give her yours...
  12. Just drive to one of those luxury shopping malls and look at the luxury car parking area to get your first impression. And then if you want to have a look at those people with those cars. All those luxury stores would not exist without people with deep pockets. I don't know the percentage. But looking at the amount of luxury shopping malls there are many of them.
  13. How long ago was that? I guess sometime in the last century.
  14. It seems your definition of "a Thai person" is very limited. There are lots of Thai people out there who spend a lot more than only 170k per month.
  15. That is a good question and personally I don't know. If you would work for a multinational company then likely they would look for such a person for you. Maybe if you worked previously for such a company or you know people who do then you could ask them. Otherwise I would look for a reputable HR company or job agency in Thailand, preferable multinational, to help you with this. It will be key person in your life and IMHO that person should be a not too young Thai person with a good professional and family background who lived also years in the western world. I am sure they exist and I am sure multinational companies hire such people for their top management in Thailand. They will obviously not be cheap but likely they will make your life and Thailand experience a lot better in many ways.
  16. Let's say it like this: It should be enough. But it's not that it's impossible to spend all that money and it's certainly not impossible to make (huge) mistakes and/or get into trouble. If you plan to come to Thailand for a long time then I suggest you should get a professional personal assistant or something like that. Professional! Not just anybody. Such a person could help you to find all those other people. And they could do it in a way that you get quality (teacher, driver, etc.) for a reasonable amount of money. Otherwise you will likely pay too much for substandard service. Thailand is a wonderful country to live in. And lots of people give you lots of options to spend more than you ever dreamed about. Enjoy! And be careful.
  17. Not all criminals are stupid. Not all greedy people are stupid. There are some people who make a lot of money with Trump in charge. And some of them only care about money and power. The country? Who cares?
  18. Will all that make any difference? Will anybody who until now supported Trump will now suddenly say: Thanks for all this information. I didn't know any of this. You convinced me? If any of this would have happened in many other countries then the traitor would have be in jail or hanged. In America he is still running around free. And there is a possibility that he will run to be president again and there is a possibility that he win that election. What a totally <deleted> up country! When George W Bush was president many of us couldn't believe that Americans voted for that guy. And we basically all agreed that it can't get worse. It did, a lot, and it seems that is far away from the bottom.
  19. Chat/talk with the "shop". Tell them what you want. In my experience many of them try their best to do what you like (within reasonable limits).
  20. Children deserver a mother and a father. Same sex couples will never be able to give children what they deserve. One father and one mother. And naturally they can't have children. Good.
  21. Should we blame the photo for all this? Or: Why would anybody expect to see on a photo the temperatures, humidity and wind? If you want to see those then I suggest a weather report.
