  1. She will love a trip to Chinatown. Here is a closeup
  2. He died a couple of years ago. As far as I know from an antibiotic allergy. Here are details about him and his clinic. https://bioenergyasia.com/index.php/about-us/profile As far as I know the clinic still exists. But I didn't visit them (or need them) anymore since years.
  3. No, there are many good doctors in Bangkok. There are obviously also bad once, I guess that is not only a problem in Thailand.
  4. After some negative comment above, I like to write about the positive things. Sometimes we have a vertebra or two in a position where they shouldn't be. Maybe we carried something heavy or moved the body in a way we shouldn't have done or something like that. I asked Dr. Don about that, see above, and he told me that if we are lucky we sleep for a night or two and the body aligns things back to where they should be, and all is fine. If the body does not align it after a few days, then it's good to see a chiropractor and let him align the vertebra. Over the years, I did that a couple of times. It was always like this: I go there and I can move i.e. an arm properly. Then, after one visit with Dr. Don, all was fine. I walk out and it doesn't hurt anymore. A friend had a problem with his arm, he visited Bumrungrad, and they suggested treatment and medications (and I think surgery) for a lot of money. Instead, he visited Dr. Don, and after a few visits he was feeling much better. No medication, no surgery. So, I know, a good chiropractor can do great things - in some situations.
  5. For me, life is about living comfortably, without stress, with enough variety. Probably I have in the 2km around me more than 1,000 restaurants, bars, shops, cinemas, a couple of parks, and anything else. I guess up country people don't have so much variety 100km around them. Long time ago, when I lived in a cold country far away, I made holiday in warm countries. And then I made holiday in Thailand, and I liked it a lot, and then I moved to Thailand. Since then, I didn't go on holiday anywhere else. I like it here; I am not looking for something different. Some time ago I was sometimes on the weekend in Pattaya, maybe 2 or 3 hours on the beach, and then a little here and there. Apart from the beach there is nothing there which is not also available in Bangkok. The few times when I go up country with my gf maybe we go with the family to a lake or something like that. Ok, it's nice for half a day. And then the ants and mosquitos take over. Nothing for me. And then I visited "home" again, a couple of years ago. Ok, I liked some of the food which I didn't eat for a long time. But all in all, nothing special over there which I like to see regularly. For me, 100% of the time in Bangkok is just fine. I know that is not the same for everybody, and that is the nice thing, we can all do what we like.
  6. I used to see Dr. Don when he was still alive. He was amazing and I heard many good stories about him. But unfortunately, it seems some chiropractors overestimate what they can to and should do. And sometimes things go wrong. So, I suggest, make sure to verify what reputation your chiropractor has.
  7. Pantip Plaza in the good old times.
  8. Something like this, Sukhumvit Road without Skytrain. We didn't have digital pictures at that time, and I am too lazy to look for old slides.
  9. I know with the EU is was all much easier. But I guess it should still be possible from someone in the UK to live i.e. in Spain. I guess (just a guess) that this is easier than living in Thailand.
  10. I am sure some Thai people are happy to spend the money of the Australian people. Apart from that, and IMHO, the term "trafficking" is overrated. We often hear in the news from Thais who were trafficked to here and there and all those bad people who trafficked them. And in private I hear from friends and family of my gf about all those great opportunities to go to these other countries and make a lot of money - mostly illegal. Somehow all this doesn't add up.
  11. Where do these f#$#$ stupid ideas come from? Did he think even for one minute about this? Because then he would know it is just stupid. But then, this is not the thinking and logic hub...
  12. I decided not to marry in any case. Problem solved.
  13. Let's say it like this: There seems to me many Thais out there who drink lots of alcohol. So independent of above, it is a common problem.
  14. You could try it and report your findings.
  15. Luckily, we don't have an alcoholic in the gf's family. But I wonder, is there a good solution to that problem? In some farang countries, we might send such a person to a clinic - provided by some health insurance. And/or he would get some social security payments from the state. All this doesn't happen in Thailand. So, what is the solution? Just telling him to stop? Send him away, like you are not family anymore? I guess it is difficult.
  16. One more: Can you please provide a one sentence summary. A man's initially happy marriage deteriorates after moving to Thailand, leading to estrangement from his wife, financial strain, and isolation, with his only solace being the care of his dogs.
  17. Finally, I found a reason to use ChatGPT: My request: "Please write a short summary about the following text:" The result: "The story narrates a man's journey from meeting his future wife on his first trip to Thailand to their current estranged relationship. They married primarily because she was denied a visa to visit him in Europe, and he moved to Thailand to live with her after retiring. Initially, their marriage seemed happy as they lived together in France, but after returning to Thailand, their relationship deteriorated. The wife now lives separately in a house meant for Airbnb rentals and frequently asks for money. Her alcoholic brothers add to the strain, and the man, feeling isolated and burdened with physical pain, finds solace in caring for his dogs. He reflects on his life's complexities, expressing a mix of resignation and frustration."
  18. Is there any hub which Thailand doesn't want to be? Amazing Thailand.
  19. From his YouTube page: Joshua Chang I like anything with a battery That convinced me, he is obviously the expert...
  20. It's almost funny that every time such officials are investigated there are luxury vehicles, big houses, cash, etc. And then it is obvious for everybody that they couldn't possibly afford all this with their salaries. And then there are all those other officials who live in the same luxury, but it seems nobody asks how they can afford that. Strange...
  21. In principle it is a good idea to get rid of Thaksin's lackey. But beware of what could happen next.
  22. Some of us want to live in the city. I live in a condominium high up, no mosquitos, snakes, rats and whatever there is on the ground in the villages. I have lots of restaurants, bars, and supermarkets in walking distance. A fresh market 10min away with the bike. World class hospitals - in case I need them. Everything is nearby. We even have some parks. And if I want to see more nature or the beach, I can take a day trip or more to go there.
  23. Do those two in the picture look to you like they are over 60?
  24. I understand that Jessica wanted to leave the UK to be somewhere warmer. But Thailand? Isn't there any place in Europe with better climate and cheaper living than the UK?
