It seems to me a proper kitchen is never cheap. I spent just for my IKEA cabinets more than 100k, plus appliances, etc. But then, normally we buy a kitchen only once.

I don't know what they thought about. And I am pretty sure most decisions are based on many factors. All in all, I think it was good that Thaksin was removed. Did the generals do a good job running the country? No. Would Thailand now be better off if the coups would not have happened? I don't know. Maybe. Maybe not.
-
Why did the coups happen? Thaksin, and later his clone, were very corrupt. The authorities didn't do their job. As far as I see, under that condition the only way to remove him was with a coup. And exactly that is what happened. Nobody was really surprised that it happened. Thaksin could have been honest, and he could have worked for Thais and Thailand, and he would probably still be PM, for 20 years or so, beloved by everybody. But he was/is too greedy. Thaksin first. The rest is history.

What did you have for breakfast?

Obviously, that was also a shady character. But what is worse, hiding the ownership of companies and many millions in stocks in the name of nominees or having lots of watches? The courts could have removed Thaksin when he just started, but somehow, they let him get away with his explanation that was an honorable mistake. Thai History would have been very different if the courts would have decided differently.

Dancers at Police Station Spark Outrage Among Netizens
OneMoreFarang replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Looking from Bangkok everything further away than maybe 20km to the north is up country. Villages, rice, buffaloes, and those places where the brown girls come from. Further details are not really interesting. 😉 -

Whoever AI generated her, why those fat legs and ugly bikini?

This reminds me of a friend with whom together I visit bars. Not seldom he suddenly tells me of this beautiful girl which he just discovered on the end of the stage. I look, and I don't see any beautiful girl. After some more searching I see one girl with big tits. That's her, the "beautiful girl". If my friend sees big tits then suddenly, he doesn't notice anything else anymore. I don't really care about the size of those things; I see it differently.

Thais Sceptical of Celebrity Endorsements, Survey Reveals
OneMoreFarang replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Personally, I also think I am much influenced by celebrities. But to be fair, marketing uses celebrities for decades and some are paid huge amounts of money. I am pretty sure that wouldn't happen if the products wouldn't sell. -
Govt Plans to Boost Education and High-Tech Workforce
OneMoreFarang replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I wonder how much of the problem is the attitude from many Thais that they just don't care about the quality of their work. And they might watch 1000 videos about some celebrities, but they don't even watch one video how to improve their working skills. I don't know why it is like that, but it seems to be very common in Thailand. -
Govt Plans to Boost Education and High-Tech Workforce

That reminds me when I visited a rich and well connected Thai/farang couple. First the Thai guy told me that they have only Burmese servants because Thais are so expensive. And some time later he complained that his servants are all so lazy and can't get things done. As far as I see many influential Thais want laborers who are skilled and cheap. -
What Do Expats Think Of Andrew Tate?
OneMoreFarang replied to 123Stodg's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Jordan Peterson published a couple of books. Some people might read them, other watch some videos, or both. A lot depends on our father, maybe brothers, and other role models. Some boys don't have any good male role models around them. Years ago, maybe they read book, now it's a lot more likely that they watch videos. I saw many interesting videos from Jordan Peterson. Does that mean I agree with everything he says or writes? No. But I can still learn some things from him. -
What Do Expats Think Of Andrew Tate?
OneMoreFarang replied to 123Stodg's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I don't like Trump, and I am not a fan of Andrew Tate (but sometimes he is right). But I still see that both are a lot more attacked then other people. I.e. with Trump: How many other guys had 30 or so criminal convictions because they paid off a porn actor? How many had to pay 100 million to an old woman who claims to remember what happened 30 years ago? Trump is not a nice person. But that doesn't make him guilty of everything. With Tate it seems to be similar. Lots of people just can't stand that he is popular with many young men. Let's find something to convict him, and try to convict him, since years. Somehow it seems that doesn't work. Again, that doesn't make him a nice guy, but maybe he just didn't commit those crimes. -
Try to check consumer testing articles from other countries, i.e. Australia. If you are lucky, you find the same models and detailed information.

@carlyai if you want to order an IKEA METOD kitchen then I suggest let us know here. Then I and likely others can give you some more specifics which are not obvious. But I don't want to make this an IKEA thread if you don't buy one.
-
Also, something to consider with IKEA, it might also apply to others. If you want to order all the parts for a kitchen it might be over 100 parts with cabinets, drawers, doors, and lots of other parts. At the beginning I was not really sure what I wanted and where exactly I wanted to install it. So, I ordered just two base cabinets with legs (no door, no shelves, etc.). Then I placed them in the location where I wanted them, and I could check if I have enough room to walk around them. Personally, I think doing that in person in your own location is perfect - if you have the time to do that. Also, later I ordered first all the cabinets and only some doors and drawers. Then, after I installed the basics, I had another look where I want what kind of drawers, which inserts and all that. With the modular IKEA METOD system, it is easy to do that.

You can make an appointment to talk to them in their shop. As far as I remember they offer a service that they visit your home. As far as I remember, they charge for that.

I can highly recommend this YouTube channel about IKEA kitchen and their installation. I designed my IKEA kitchen with their planner and then I watched many videos for tips what to choose and how to install it. I designed the layout myself and I installed it myself (apart from the stone countertop). The main reason for me to do it myself is to do it correctly. There are just too many possibilities for shortcuts which will be long term problems. IKEA has a couple of different kitchen series. I used METOD cabinets, they have 25 years warranty. Hello Home Owners and Ikea Kitchen Installers. (youtube.com) This is just one of those important videos. If "you" get the basics wrong, then there will be lots of problems.

I agree that isolation is not healthy. Personally I just don't know about young people these days. Obviously I see lots of young people outside, and many of them seem to be addicted to their phones. But I don't know how many never or seldom go out. I also don't know how those who communicate all the time over their phone think about that situation. I personally would think someone who has 1000 fb "friends" and no real life friends has a problem. But I remember talking to a women in an office who was constantly on her phone and she told me proudly she has friends all over the world. It's different. Is it worse? Personally, I think so. But then, personally I don't have any social media friends.
