  1. I thought this new law just came into effect for the last tax year, or are they going to start taxing people from their first arrival in Thailand? In my case 15 years of back taxes.
  2. He went to get a clearance certificate that could be presented to Immigration if that becomes a requirement.
  3. Hang on, I'll check if they have CCTV at the Revenue Office.
  4. What I understand is that he had no need to transfer any money for the last calendar year, and he had no income from local earnings, so what were they trying to tax him on? And how was he able to negotiate the amount down from 11000 baht to 5000 baht?
  5. No, I believe 100% what he said is true. I thought the tax year was from Jan 1 2024 to Jan 1 2025?
  6. What proof would you like, video evidence of the encounter?
  7. Just spoke to next door neighbor, who is French, he went to revenue office yesterday and even though he has not transferred any money from France in the last 12 months he was still charged 5000 baht. The Revenue officer started at 11,000 baht and my neighbor negotiated his way down to 5000 baht. It seems pretty obvious to me that this whole procedure is open to corruption.
  8. I believe the cutoff (according to neighbor is April) so maybe it will only affect those going to renew after then? I know the neighbor said he did have to pay some tax on money that he'd transferred from the UK, 50,000 Baht I believe.
  9. I'm 83, maybe I'm a bit slow, but do I need to something or nothing to satisfy the tax department or immigration?
  10. No, I believe he thought it was compulsory to get a receipt from the Revenue Office to present to Immigration when he renews his retirement visa.
  11. Because unless I present all my bank statements to Revenue I won't get a receipt to present to Immigration at my next visa (retirement) renewal. The neighbor said he had to pay 5% of all money he's transferred from the UK in the last 12 months. Why isn't this more widely publicized?
  12. TCIO ended with option for a series 2.
  13. I thought it was pretty funny.
  14. There's a steak knife there to give some perspective.
  15. Already said much bigger than lime as you can see in the photos.
  16. That looks like it. Don't think the Thais use them much.
  17. The picture I posted shows it far bigger than a lime, plus the centre is hollow. Not the same,.
  18. I think these are much bigger.
  19. I believe it is a Ponderosa lemon, Pomelo is far sweeter.
  20. Nearest thing I've found online is a Ponderosa lemon.
  21. I've had Pomelo many times, this is much more sour than that, probably only good for juicing.
  22. Here's inside. Very sour and astringent.
  23. A neighbor just gave me a couple of these, haven't opened them yet but smells like lemon. Should have put something to show size, but they are about the size of a large grapefruit.
