Me, I grew up with it, I was young enough to adapt, old men should employ a Thai driver, or a Farang that has lived in country for 20 years, anything else, you're a danger to every other road user and should be banned from driving immediately.

In the west, or the US, which, incidentally, has given this country almost a billion dollars when the tsunami in a decade ago, has many more police officers on the street actively looking for drunk drivers.

That means, they pull up behind you if they suspect you of being drunk, and they are highly trained in making this analysis. They don't set up pointless check points where a taxi driver can drive you through for 200 baht.

The numbers will seem to indicate that the US is worse, but it's not. In the US the police don't take payoffs.

I can name names of people here who have paid off the police here so they can go free. These are Thai people.

being an ex tradie I tend to be a bit sarcastic towards the thai workers as the real tradesmen are far and few between. There is a difference between doing a job and doing it properly, there is also a difference between a tradesman that served an apprenticeship and a scrubber that just decided they could do it all with no learning which covers the huge majority of thai workers, a tradesman will always show up on time, do the work in the correct sequence and clean up after themselves, another bit that goes missing here.

They didn't have the opportunity that you've had, if you had been born in Thailand, guess what, you'd have been the same.
