Thailand Sees Drop in Japanese Tourists as Baht Rises
It's OK. In another post, the Chinese are taking up the slack. Apparently a late surge in numbers, so all is well. https://aseannow.com/topic/1375293-thailand-sees-surging-tourist-arrivals-amidst-2025-recovery/#comment-20139046

Foreign Man Scams Phuket Exchange Shops with Fake Pounds
I thought that all UK banknotes are now new polymer notes with all the latest anti-counterfeit protections printed into them, including holographic images. I wonder how the counterfeiters are managing to overcome them. What with showing ID and the tools the exchanges have nowadays such as CCTV, UV lights and special pens to verify notes, it's a brave man who tries converting fake notes in them nowadays.

I seem to have cracked the code regarding Thai 'Working Girls'.
You are talking about hard faced women who could likely talk an ATM into spitting out money. It was likely a slow night or there was an ulterior motive. I think you need to do more extensive testing.

ICE Is Out Of Control
That's why they are all covering their faces. They know a lot of what they are doing is illegal. Exposed faces enables identification. Leaves them open to both legal, and illegal comeback.

Thailand Sees Surging Tourist Arrivals Amidst 2025 Recovery
They do seem to flip and flop with their numbers and outlook. Next week: Thailand the hub of world tourism.

Should none Buddhists be allowed to purchase alcohol today?
i thought hotels and restaurants were always allowed to serve alcohol on Thai holidays, just not bars, pubs etc.. Shows how much I know, BTW what Thai holiday is it today? I looked up a list and it didn't show today. Only one next week 13th for the old King.

Tories Unveil Bold Plan to Expel 750,000 Migrants
And this is the only reason why they are saying they will do it. Both they and Labour were never interested before. In fact labour went in totally the opposite direction and allowed virtual unlimited immigration. Now it's looking like they will all be out of power for a while, they start making promises again. What with Starmer is trying to push his ID scheme. What is the UK coming to? Using the excuse of controlling illegal immigration by preventing illegals working. But it will also be for children. The State will have eyes on everything you do from birth to death. Tony Blair has wanted this for years. That alone is a dire warning. I hope that for doing this alone, Labour are pushed into the political wilderness and never elected again.

Looks like a tree snake. Imagine if it had dropped down in front of his vision while driving. That would likely have really panicked him.

The job market won’t Belong to Degree holders its going to be AI
i suppose it depends on which degree one has. AI might be able to design better chips and circuits, and using robotics even build them, but it wil be a long time before they will be able to do the actual installation of systems. I doubt people will have too much confidence in autonomous robots carrying out surgery on them. A medical or dental degree will likely be OK. Doctors can use AI to help diagnose, and even use robotic arms operated by them to carry out some surgeries, But letting a fully autonomous robot free in my mouth while sedated? No thank you.

Lazada vs Shopee – Things Have Changed For Me
i must admit that I haven't used Shopee for a while. The biggest drawback for me was the lack of a decent English version of the website. i found it difficult to set up payment by bank, so always ended up printing QR codes to pay at 7-11. Lazada is a much smoother experience via mobile banking But I have had a lot of unsatisfactory purchases on Lazada lately. Often sending the wrong items. Last one was yesterday. I ordered a 15L bin and received an 8 litre one, for the second time. Also many sellers are either drop shippers, or seem to be based in China, so orders can take over two weeks to arrive from there.. It might be time to give Shopee another go. Or at least compare items between there and Lazada before buying.

Thai credit card
I'm not sure, perhaps others can correct me if wrong, but I thought that for foreigners to have a credit card here, they need to keep sufficient funds in an account to cover the card limit.

U.S. Treasury proposes one dollar Trump coin
Only a one dollar coin? Trump's ego won't like that. Likely only something like a special 1000 dollar 'big beautiful' gold coin with his image on both sides, so you can always see him would be good enough.

Pretty sure I did the face thing a few months ago at SCB when I updated my passport details, because I remember the woman using an iPad to do it. But I still got the message last week to go in and do it again.

AI Data Centers Are Sending Power Bills Soaring
China has massive solar farms, wind, cheap Russian oil, and the Three Gorges Dam to provide cheap energy for both their industries and AI Data Centres. So it can be done.
