  1. Here is the recipe I use. I prefer to use chicken breast rather than leg. I also use Waugh's Curry Powder from Tops. https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/chinese-chicken-curry?IGNORE_GEO_REDIRECT_GLOBAL=true&v=473851054
  2. Thinking of making my Chinese takeaway style chicken curry for dinner tonight.
  3. +1 on Rutnin Eye Hospital. I can personally recommend it.
  4. The article doesn't say what the punishment was. Making it severe enough to deter others might be better than wasting money on mental health checks.
  5. Some reasons I can think of: 1. Thai is a difficult language to learn. Whereas many asylum seekers speak some English. 2. The UK's generous health and Social security system. When you are used to a mud hut without running water, <deleted>ting in a hole in the ground, and likely having to work in the fields for long hours for a pittance, being told you are given a free house, free healthcare, free money and clothes for your children, and many of your compatriots are already there to help you, these are big incentives. I know this isn't the case for all asylum seekers, but it is for many Imagine the phone call back home: I have been given a house for free. It has electricity, hot and cold running water, all paid for. They give me free money every week. I don't even have to work. The doctor, medicine and school are all free. You need to get here as fast as you can. What puzzles me is why large numbers pass through the rest of Europe and risk their lives crossing the Channel. What is wrong with France for example? I even thought of retiring there myself. In he end I suppose its not much different to us all living here in another country. Although most of us pay our own way
  6. She gets through 5 kilos of sugar daily? What does she have? A Thai food stall?
  7. There is a Youtube video about this. I watched it several months ago. As OP says, most are in the back of beyond.
  8. We have another one at this very moment. GF said there was a bang from the overhead cables as she drove by near to our place. That's six since 24th June, not including the constant quick on offs that frequently happen.
  9. Evel Knievel has been lying low in Thailand all these years...until now.
  10. Tell that to Sonya Massey
  11. Only thing worse than a cop is a cop wearing a "Thin Blue Line" gang badge. UK police are fast turning into their US brethren.
  12. That temple will get a lot of visitors prior to next month's lottery. So even more donations.
  13. I wonder if he wrote the song himself. I heard he had a penchant for writing musical ditties. https://edition.cnn.com/2014/06/12/world/asia/thailand-prayuth-songwriter/index.html
  14. I suppose you not being Swedish (going by your username) took some of the worry away while you slept.
  15. And yet another one. One or two fans working. No water, no air con. Lights very dim. This has been far too frequent lately.
  16. I agree. i thought it was lighthearted and actually did show Thailand in a good light.
  17. +1. There are now Superrich booths at some BTS stations. Asoke has one, but as Lorry said, they offer slightly less than the main ones in the sois opposite the northern end of Central World, to the left of Big C when looking at it. There is also another place called Vasu that gives pretty decent rates near Nana Soi 3 I think. It's a while since I last went there. BTW. SuperRichTH and SuperRich have apps so you can check their rates on line on your phone..
  18. Wow! 3kms? That is a long way for such a young child to walk. Let alone through fields. Very lucky he didn't come to any harm.
  19. Never see any fat Thai conscripts. Only officers.
  20. Preferential treatment for the rich, famous, hi-so etc., happens all over the world. Nothing new.
  21. Step aside for another Shinawatra? Perhaps that's what the golf weekend was about.
  22. OP. Be careful. Leaving bad reviews here in Thailand (deserved or otherwise) can get you sued.
  23. There does seem to be some form of gaining services or pecuniary advantage by deception, as it was intentional. Either by getting the room or the taxi. Now whether that is a crime in Thailand is another matter. I wonder if the police would have pressed charges if it was one of their own who had lost out in this.
  24. Maybe he tried applying for the THB10,000 Digital Wallet under a false name. 😀
