Practice, practice practice. It may involve some falling off so wear a helmet, gloves and elbow protectors at first. Maybe try on grass or in a quiet park or space where you won't risk hitting passers by. Take it easy. Maybe get someone to help steady you. Help hold you up at first. I don't know if learning on a mountain bike type with fatter tyres would be any easier than a racing model with thinner ones. Others might know. I would make sure that you are very proficient on riding a bicycle before transitioning to a motorbike. The roads are dangerous here.

Thai tourism must shift to supply-driven strategy for 2025, says TAT
phetphet replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Never being one to miss a trick, I am surprised that TAT hasn't started an advertising campaign, aimed at all those tourists being deterred from going to some European countries by the local "We don't want you" demonstrations. -
Florida judge dismisses the Trump classified documents case
phetphet replied to Social Media's topic in World News
IMHO, what is more scary, is the recent Supreme Court ruling giving US President's some immunity against prosecution. Putting them above the law to some extent. Now that door has been cracked open, what is to stop further immunities being granted by future judges? -
And another one now.

Transferring visa stamp to new UK passport
phetphet replied to phetphet's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I had a friend who due to renewing his passport couldn't transfer money in Thailand because number didn't match with that in bank account. Once he updated at bank, all was OK. -
I know that this isn't Samui, but there is an Apple Authorised Repair & Service centre in Surat Thani. You might be able to send it by post. iCare Surat Thani Central Surat Thani 2nd Floor, Room 21 Watpradu Muang Surat Thani Also I think I saw a sign for Mac Repairs as you exit Fisherman's Village from the east end, near the Thai School, turn left towards Bangrak, and it is a small computer place on the left. I have never used it, but did notice the Mac sign.

I have to go collect my new UK passport from VFS Bangkok this week. I can't find the thread, but pretty sure that I read here on AN that a letter is required to change visa stamps to new passport. Is this something that is automatically issued with the new passport by HMPO? Or do I have to ask VFS for one? Am I even right on this? NEW PASSPORT NUMBER Trying to think where else I might have to get passport number changed: Bank Accounts obviously, maybe Driving Licences,. Am I mssing anywhere else? Can anyone think of any other places I might need to get this changed? TIA

Thai Man Arrested Over Alleged Rape of Ukrainian Woman on Koh Samui
phetphet replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
It never said he fancied her. It said he raped her. Two completely different things. -
Foreigner and Thai woman get into heated argument on BTS (video)
phetphet replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I wonder if he would have said "Get the f*** out of the way" if it was some 6'4" muscle bound, bald, tattooed guy instead of a Thai woman. I doubt it. -
Thailand postpones legal consultation on funding for digital wallets
phetphet replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
How will they stop some little minimart from giving the customer sayTHB 10,000 cash for the digital currency? Less of course a 10% fee for doing so. -
Certificate of Residence (CoR)
phetphet replied to SouthThailand's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I applied to renew my UK passport at VFS two weeks ago. A bank statement in English, showing my address was sufficient. I took along copy of blue book, but it was returned to me as not needed. No C of R was required. They told me it would take about four weeks, but surprisingly I received the email that it was ready to collect only ten days after application. I can't comment on a TIN. -
Thailand postpones legal consultation on funding for digital wallets
phetphet replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Many governments want to introduce these Digital Currency Schemes. That way they can see what you spend, and control what you spend it on. Be a naughty boy or girl? No buying bus, train or flight tickets for you. Only allowed to buy food in your local supermarket. Obese or ill health? No buying chocolate or cigarettes. You can only buy what we the government consider healthy food. But this one? I would describe it as Yingluckesque. -
Everybody is born and dies the same way
phetphet replied to susanlea's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
No one gets through life without possessions. One man's junk is another man's treasure. I presume you own a computer and a mobile phone. Others might think they are a waste of time and useless. Not everyone dies the same either. Some go quickly. Others a long lingering, painful death. I know which I would prefer given the choice. Others are never even here long enough to accumulate what you call junk. -

Koh Samui plans to lengthen airport operating hours due tourism surge
phetphet replied to snoop1130's topic in Koh Samui News
They don’t need to lengthen operating hours. Just restore all the flights they have cut back. Bangkok Air website showing no flights some days next week from morning until evening. 9am until 7pm. -
Russian man arrested with 300,000 baht in fake euros in Pattaya

Not seen one of those finger pointing pics for a while. Good to see they are still a part of Thai Police procedure. 😀 -
You have to be careful buying tyres online. I bought a couple of tyres on Lazada. They cracked and lumps fell off when the mechanic tried to fit them. He said they were three or four years old. Could tell by the code on the tyre wall.
