Big brother to Piccolino? -
Have you made living arrangements yet? Even if you are staying long term in a hotel. Try and get TM.30 plus a letter that you are staying there and use them to get a Residence Certificate. Then use the resi Cert to open a bank account. You still might get refused, but try different banks.

They have cheese in the US? Our local Tops has quite a variety of cheeses. Including Uk, French and Italian. Bought some nice Stilton recently, but as you say, not cheap. Transport costs likely.

COVID makes comeback in Thailand as booster fatigue leaves door open
phetphet replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It was posted last year that the bivalent vaccine wouldn't be available in Thailand until mid 2023. We are there now. Still not heard any updates. -
Rich old men will always be attractive to certain types of young women.. Nothing wrong with it apart from for any children, who might lose their father earlier than most Ronnie Wood, Woody Allen, Rupert Murdoch. Donald Trump are a few other examples. Is it the money? Fame? Power? Or just true love? There was a question once asked in an interview, I think it was of Anna Nicole Smith, but might be wrong, along the lines of, " What was it about the billionaire J Howard Marshall that made you want to marry him?" As long as they're happy, what difference does it make?

The demise of the village ATM.
phetphet replied to Crossy's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Pushing towards a cashless society. The banks have already mentioned that they are plannig to start charging a fee for digital transfers. So now they don't have to pay rent for branches or any costs involved in running them, less staff, no risk of robbery, no ATM's to maintain, and you can pay for the privilege. -
Not an answer to your question, but I use a K-bank online debit card which is the replacement for the previous K-Web online shopping card. I use it on Aliexpress and several other websites for making purchases without problems. Maybe see if your bank(s) do a similar card. Also. Have you checked if you have set limits on your cards?

He may be cleverer than he looks. Just by suggesting it he may have put a stop to any such planned deal.

Reminds me of some of the Chinese adverts on Aliexpress. They seem to have no filter, showing the grossest photos of fungal infected toenails as adverts for anti fungal cream. The following one made me laugh though. "Stepping on <sh*t>" must be the Chinese version of "Walking on air."

Wasn't there a case where an old couple were given a really long sentence for picking mushrooms? Also another where a mother was found with about a tenth of a gramme of coke in her bag and given around 20 years. Are there any guidelines for sentencing here? Seems to be up how to the judge is feeling on the day, or how rich or well connected you are.

The problem you might have is that credit card companies are not allowed to hold clients funds. ( That's how it was explained to me). I had some credit on my credit card as had overpaid in anticipation of some big bills arriving. The card company contacted me several times asking me for bank details so they could repay me the money.

You can buy soda water makers on Amazon. The most famous being Soda Stream. Usually comes with plastic bottles and small charging gas cylinders. They have Soda Stream on Lazada, but the price seems expensive. Getting replacement gas cylinders might be the difficult part. Not sure if allowed to post by air.

Pay attention when police stops you
phetphet replied to FriendlyFarang's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Perhaps they have printed fake "official looking" receipts, or have an accomplice in the office that sends out the fines. Or as you suggested, quota filling. Certainly seems suspicious. -
Last few days, blue flags have appeared everywhere along the roadside with what looks like the Thai letters Jor Jaan and Gor Gai จก on them. The roads have been coned down the middle and no parking in Chaweng from lake road junction towards airport / Choengmon junction. Last night the police were all along the road in Bangrak until almost 4am. and out this morning when I took the little one to school. Anyone know what's gong on? Something to do with the recent election?
