  1. Not so much a crackdown. Just a lot more visitors post Covid, so inevitably more overstayers to catch.
  2. With the defamation laws being what they are here, RR better have some strong evidence. Or do MP's have immunity for making such statements?
  3. If filling in on your computer, just make sure that you have the latest version for your particular immigration office. Just as each office has their own requirements, I don't think it is a nationwide standard form, but I might be wrong. Our local one makes slight changes every so often, then refuses to accept the previous form.
  4. Why? What difference would that have made? £42 for a quiche is very expensive. Imported or not.
  5. "Dry season expected to end next Monday." Do you know what time? GF was planning to hand some washing out.
  6. This is Thailand, where when sales drop they increase the price to cover any shortfall. I doubt they would give any discount for buying a whole one.
  7. I actually went into the London branch in St Mary's Axe a few years ago and asked about sending money through them to my BKK Bank account here in Thailand. If I recall correctly, they wanted to see the original passbook before even considering it. Which of course I didn't have with me. Much easier using Wise.
  8. I don't think they were imported. Probably cooked in their own kitchens. Below is a pic. Funny thing is both he quiche lorraine and the salmon and leek were the same price. I would have thought the salmon would be more expensive.
  9. Was browsing around Tops today. In a chilled cabinet, I saw they had several quiche cut into 6 pieces at THB 290 / slice. That's THB1,740 for a whole one, which equates to almost £42!! I know prices have increased, but £42 for what is basically an egg and bacon pie! Am I out of touch to be shocked at such a price?
  10. I don't know. It might be entertaining if it got into a fight with some members. See what sort of witty ripostes or even abusive retorts that it came up with.
  11. Let's see. 17 year old, no parents to tell him what to do. Weighing up, Pattaya or Gateshead? 14 degrees or 32 Degrees? Reminds me of the video Swedish nightclub? Or Newcastle nightclub? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScyRmiaEOUw
  12. Not sure how accurate this is: https://transumo.com/opening-a-uk-bank-account/#:~:text=There are a few expat,up to £85%2C000 GBP.
  13. T|hat photo actually looks like the hands are printed on her t-shirt and he is knocking one out behind her.????
  14. I didn’t bother, as it was just for changing name on my old scooter to my girlfriend’s name. But when I was at Maenam for my 90 day report last month, I saw someone pick up a residence certificate. So maybe they have started again. Alternatively. You might want to try that other office in Choengmon. They can only say no. Going from Choengmon up the hill to the post office, it’s up the soi on the right literally before the 7-11
  15. Thanks. I had read the linked article, but thought it ended at the adverts. I didn't see the further paragraphs below said adverts.
  16. Why does she have 'Stop Love' written or tattooed on her face in that photo? Did the boyfriend do it?
  17. I hope he gets in, but let's not forget, there are other ambitious generals out there.
  18. That's killed the buzz for a lot of women.
  19. Don't worry. Look on the bright side. It will probably reopen as a cannabis shop soon.
  20. I've been saying for ages that the banks will start charging fees on digital banking once they get everyone hooked. Regardless of how much money they have saved in rents, cost of security and staff wages by closing branches. They used to charge for digital transfers before Covid, but dropped the charge to encourage people to use mobile banking based on fears of dirty banknotes. They all operate like a cartel, and will likely all introduce fees around the same time once they start. And as far as "all parties will ensure that clients pay them at a reasonable price and that banks can balance the fees throughout all channels." Well we can see how that worked with the ATM charges for foreign card withdrawals. Then they increase them every few years. Thailand is not the only country that doesn't charge for digital services at the moment, but they also don't provide the same protection for their clients that suffer losses as western banks. Don't forget they also charge a fee if one does banking "out of province."
  21. Pretty sure it's not only Thais opening these shops. There might be a girlfriend fronting it, but many will have a foreigner doing the planning and financing.
  22. This most recent one was from burning in the north being blown down here.
  23. I guess we would have to see where the writer lives first and how much he or she pays in rent to understand their perception of high end.
  24. Two lots of child support should put a dent in his salary.
