Yes. That is their business model. Hook you with cheap printer prices, then charge the Earth for ink cartridges. My Canon printer, scanner, copier is not that old, but as you say, it might be better to buy a new one if this shortage continues. I have finally managed to source the particular black ink cartridge I need from Lazada. Though not deivered yet. A bit late for printing all the documents required for my retirement extension, but it should at least last me the next few months. @Ginkas. Yes. This article still applies. There is a severe shortage of Canon ink cartridges.

Proof of Residence for Retirement Extension
phetphet replied to Phulublub's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I took a photocopy of the Blue Book for my apartment building. It does not have my name in it, but is always accepted for proof of where I live, and has been for years. The IO then stapled a piece of paper in my passport that acknowledges that I have reported my address to them. That paper stays in my passport and I even photocopy it along with all passport pages each year as part of my retirement extension renewal. Obviously different for each Imm Office. HTH -
Internet banking change.
phetphet replied to owl sees all's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
It's not so much the technology that's the problem. It's fitting it all on small screens. Not everyone has 20/20 vision. Plus, the banks should think of their elderly customers who don't use, or are afraid of using these new technologies. They are numerous and often have accumulated wealth throughout their lives. -
Internet banking change.

I went into Kasikorn Bank this afternoon to apply for the new Online Debit Card as they will be terminating my current one at the end of this month, due to the fact that they are moving said card from online banking to their K Plus app. I couldn't apply through the app as they said I could in the SMS they sent me. Even the staff in the bank couldn't find it in the app. Instead I had to do it through a K-Bank ATM. This is the replacement for the K-Web online shopping card. Next stop, some new specs as some of the font on those apps is too small for my eyes. -
I like the white sourdough bread from Tops. 90 baht, but although they haven't increased the price, the loaves themselves are getting a lot smaller. Doesn't seem to go hard as quick as the other white breads they sell.

I'm not sure using smartphones is any more secure than using internet banking. Nothing to stop someone forcing a victim to hold the phone up for facial recognition in order to steal from their account. Also. Phone screens are not good for those with bad or impaired vision. At least with internet banking, it can be done on a larger screen. And as another poster said, there seem to be more options available via internet banking. Personally, although I use the scan feature to pay for things in the supermarket, I feel much more comfortable doing online banking in the comfort of my own home, on my own network. As an aside. Kasikorn are waiving fee for their new K Online Debit Card (100 baht joining fee and annual fee 150 baht) first year, from Jan 1 2023 until 30 Apr 2023. I presume this is replacing the old K-web shopping card. But they are also moving it from online banking to their K Plus app. So it seems other banks are pushing their apps to replace some online banking services. -
While trying to source printer ink cartridges, I came across this article. https://www.windowscentral.com/canon-printer-chip-shortage Basically, due to the current worldwide shortage of semi conductor chips, companies such as Canon are being forced to ship ink cartridges without chips in them. They will apparently provide a work around on their website for the warnings given when using unofficial ones, or any without their chip in them.

Replacement filters around 800 to 1000 baht according to type on Lazada. I haven't needed to change my one yet.

Helping a friend do his application. He currently does not have UK internet banking. Bit of a technophobe, plus visually impaired. I am trying to teach him, but after reading all the scam stories, and considering his impairment, he doesn't trust sending money that way. Worried he might press the wrong button. So to my question about transferring the THB800,000. As far as immigration is concerned, would it be acceptable for it to be sent to his Thai account by his son from his son's UK account? Or does it have to come from his own UK account? TIA

I did state, "But not cheap." Naturehike is a Chinese brand that makes outdoor clothing and equipment, including tents. They are probably one of the better ones. Obviously, as you stated in your OP, you will have to bear in mind that Asian XXL might not be the same as European XXL. If you click on the link below for a quilted jacket, and scroll down, there is a size chart showing dimensions for XXL. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004821527092.html HTH
