  1. And Antarctica had its coldest temperature or record this year, But facts like that is not talked about very much. Between April and September, a research station sitting on a high plateau in Antarctica, registered an average temperature of minus 78 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 61 degrees Celsius). That’s the coldest temperature recorded since record keeping began in 1957 https://legalinsurrection.com/2021/10/antarctica-chills-with-coldest-winter-on-record/
  2. Many European countries have started to give a third booster dose, given 6 month after the second dose.
  3. Sorry forgot to ask. This is what they say you need for a tourist visa. But there is some kind of declaration that can be downloaded as well. Is that for other type of visas? Or do I need it?
  4. I just noticed this on the e-visa application. So I need to get a bank statement for a tourist visa now? Or is it OK that I print out from on line banking? I assume I can just ignore all the stuff not needed for my type of visa?
  5. At least they want it to be simple for them. Not sure every one visiting them for different reasons, would say they try to make it simpler for them.
  6. The solution would be to use 2 different banks. Then at the other hand, just to open a bank account in Thailand is a bit hit and miss.
  7. How can Russia be on the list of safe countries? Last 14 days, 549 947 new cases and 16 107 dead from Covid.
  8. There is no package for Phuket. You just book 1 night at a SHA plus+ hotel at any booking site. They will send you a link where you book the PCR test. In Phuket they will do the test at the airport. And they will arrange for your pickup at an inflated price. In my case they told me it would be 500 Thb to a hotel within walking distance from the airport. But I guess they try to make the most of it. And they know you need a approved transport. Good luck and enjoy your stay.
  9. All the way since they started to demand insurance for O-A visa. Further demand for insurance has been in the making. They recently raised the bar for O-A to 3 500 000 Thb. My guess is that in a few years, all long term stay in Thailand will only be possible if you have insurance that has been stipulated by Thai authorities. My plan was always to retire in Thailand when my parents are gone. Now I don’t think this will be the case anymore. Maybe they won’t go down that path. But now I’m looking at options. To settle down permanently, you need to feel quite confident that the rules are stable over time. And Thailand isn't providing that confidence.
  10. The false positive test result is reported to be 0,6 % on average. So, the positive here is less than that.
  11. Thanks for the report.???? That would be consistent with updated information at Thai embassy website.
  12. This information is now on the Thai embassy's web page's updated (1/11) info as well. So I guess this is the way it is now.
  13. Thanks for your answer. My ticket is for December, But it is pending, I need to pay today 5 PM GMT and I don't think I will do that with current information. An app that suppose to track you real-time and according other posts should have GPS and Bluetooth on at all times (No wonder it drain the battery). Not interested. It is a bit tempting to listen to all who say, uninstall or turn it of and so on. But knowing Thailand the app could turn out to be a money spinner for BIB to pay for "little wife". Stop the farang and check if the app is there. So I keep looking for options like Canary Islands. Have to decide today we will see.
  14. Hi, I don't think there is one. I got this answer from a hotel I booked for 1 night in Phuket. They told me they will arrange a Taxi to pick me up to be payed at the hotel 500 TH. A bit funny since the hotel is walking distance from the airport. Just try on any booking site and you will find many options. Book one with no fee to cancel. Good luck "For the RT-PCT test you can book by www.thailandpsas.com by yourself."
  15. Used to be a time when knowledgeable and helpful people would give useful information about most things regarding LOS here on this forum. I miss those days.
  16. I have for some time now been trying to find out a definitive answer for this question. None of these 2 links from the Department of Consular Affairs mention anything about the need for the “spy app” And one is taking about arriving with no phone at all. And no phone no app. https://consular.mfa.go.th/th/content/thailand-pass-traveler-journey?cate=5ddbe42115e39c4768007e1d https://consular.mfa.go.th/th/content/thailand-pass-faqs-2 I have been trying to find out if I need the app or not, posting here in different treads. But no conclusive answer. For me this is a deal-breaker. I have a ticket pending, need to pay tomorrow or it is gone. I would very much like to go back to Thailand, have many friends there, Thai and farang. But when it comes to intrusion of personal privacy the “app” is where I draw the line. Has someone arrived in Thailand the last couple of days or have some other information that can give a definitive answer? Would be very grateful. If posted wrong, please move to the right place
  17. Could you please post a link for this. I have a pending (for 72h) ticket for Thailand. And I will not pay it if the "spy app" is demanded. That's where I draw the line.
  18. Not sure you need the app. I have tried to get this confirmed in other posts here but still waiting for confirmation. Anyhow impossible to have the app if you don't have a phone.
  19. That is interesting and hopeful news. Thank you
  20. Hi ubonjoe, you are usually the go to guy for information about all of this stuff. This info you are linking to is from the same department that has in their A & Q answered that a phone isn't needed. Would you say that I can feel safe with this information. And I can arrive without a phone and not get into trouble for being able to install any app? https://consular.mfa.go.th/th/content/thailand-pass-faqs-2
  21. If they say I can come with no phone, how can I have an app?
  22. Impossible to get full and easy to understand info TIT This what they now have on the Department of Consular Affairs web page. But that might not be all anyhow. Nothing about any app. I didn't even know that they had 2 apps https://consular.mfa.go.th/th/content/thailand-pass-traveler-journey?cate=5ddbe42115e39c4768007e1d
  23. Thank you PickleRick and eisfeld. I guess that I can go on the info that you can arrive without a phone as well then.
  24. Now I'm really confused. Where did you read that the "Test and Go" only is for Bangkok? If you have a link, I would be grateful if you cold post it. On the Ministry of foreign airfares information about "Thailand Pass" point 3 under documentation it tells how to go about if you don't have a phone at all. Must be hard to download an app without a phone. Or do you mean that since "Test and Go" don't exist for Phuket, the "spy app " is still a must for Phuket arrivals?
