He threw a "table tennis bomb" at them. They chased him and he crashed into a canal. They haven't yet determined the cause of death. The perps have denied using any bladed weapons, though they did have them in possession. It's all in the article... Before the execution, a trial would be a good idea.

I'd suggest you get 2 bottles in any case (if it's in your budget). I always found myself bringing in a 1/3- 1/4 full bottle for refill just so I wouldn't have to stop in the middle of the next job to slog down to the gas vendor because I ran out of gas. I ended up buying a small bottle to set aside the big one. Which also made it easier to work on remote jobs with the small one. Of course, it depends on how often you expect to need a refill since the bottles aren't cheap... And in my neck of the woods, you paid a flat rate to refill the bottle, regardless of how empty it is. YMMV.

Bitcoin going well
impulse replied to Sparktrader's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
With the cost of a bitcoin transaction being $100 of electricity, how can it not fail? If not today, how about when it's 100% subscribed, and they can't award new "coin" to compensate the "miners" who use their electricity and their computing resources to facilitate the blockchain transactions? At the very least, they'll have to issue more Bitcoin, diluting what's already out there. https://fortune.com/2021/10/26/bitcoin-electricity-consumption-carbon-footprin/ Remember when Bitcoin was held out as a new and zoomy way to buy your morning coffee? Imagine Starbucks at $105 instead of $5. And that's before soaring energy prices. I'd add that I had a lot of family that lost everything in the Enron debacle. So I'm wary of schemes that don't make business sense. And Bitcoin doesn't. -

I'm still waiting for tulip bulbs to come back so I can jump on them. I hope I get in on time... And, more importantly, get out on time. -
Tragic story, but a thought provoking cautionary tale. His riding skills didn't save him and neither did his helmet. Had he been in a 4 wheeler with seat belts fastened, the driver probably wouldn't have pulled out in front of him in the first place. And if she did, we'd be discussing who should pay for the damages if you rear end a car that cuts you off like that. And he'd be around to participate in the discussion. Riding a scooter is 20-40x as hazardous per km as driving a car, even with a helmet and skills.

Tourists ignore Songkran water-fight ban on Bangkok’s Khaosan Road
impulse replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Can you understand that having super soakers on sale in the wide open light of day may have confused them about what the rules are? Not to mention hundreds of locals. When in Rome... In any case, I'm glad to see people out having fun and money being spent. I was always a spectator in the water fights, but thoroughly enjoyed watching them and getting the occasional soaking. Except that one night I was on my way to a dinner with the big boss from out of the country and a Euro cutie thought I was kidding when I asked her not to soak me. -

Somewhere, there's a sweet, young translator getting chewed out for the headline... -
Why not that simple? It's a short hop and they could replace 100% of pre-Covid tourist numbers if they can convince just 4% of Indians to spend their tourist money in Thailand. That may not be doable, but they can sure make a dent... Seems like a reasonable place to spend some promotional effort. It's not as if they're appealing to the Indians (or the Chinese or the Russkies) to the detriment of western tourists. Except maybe the racist ones.

If you're going to be renting it to a friend, why would you buy a new scooter?

But do they want to be? The world is full of borders that make absolutely no sense in terms of ethnic and national makeup. Hastily drawn in the wake of WW1 and WW2, and the breakup of the USSR. Yugoslavia was a perfect example. Over 80% of Crimeans wanted to remain aligned with Russia a year after the annexation. What do residents of the Donbas region want?

Best scene in the Jack Reacher movie: I can't afford you. I'm not a hooker. Then I really can't afford you. -
I stand corrected... I thought I bought prescriptions at a Watson, but it was probably a Boots. My normal pharmacy was the Boots in Exchange Tower. I always figured the odds of getting a fake were lower in a multi-national chain than in a one-off shop. Especially given the preponderance of Sukhumvit kiosks that sold obvious fake ED meds in the wide open. Reduced when they cleaned up Suk, but they never seemed to go away completely.

It says 10 attackers melted away. It doesn't say whether any of them were on his side.

why obesity is not a choice (i disagree partly)

Sweet drinks are a perfect example. Caffeine is added, not as a flavor enhancement, but as a feel good reward for drinking them. In fact, Coca Cola originally came with cocaine, before it was outlawed. Even with just caffeine, a lot of people get headaches if they quit cold turkey (I do). Sure, it's a choice. But the bustards do everything they can to make that a hard choice for a lot of people. And they're sneaky about it. In 20 years or so, it'll go just like the tobacco industry where whistleblowers will spill their dirty secrets. -
I'd suggest you go to a Boots or a Watson's to find out what the full price is for a genuine product. Use that number to figure out if you're getting a good price. Or you may just decide to save some time and the risk of a fake, and pay the rate. In that area, it's hard to swing a dead cat without hitting a pharmacy. And you used to be able to buy Cialis from street kiosks all up and down Sukhumvit each night. Leading me to suspect there was a market for fakes, that may bleed over the small pharmacies. Edit: I always bought my important prescriptions from Boots (or the hospital). I paid more for the peace of mind. Occasionally, I'd buy my Omeprazole wherever I was when I ran out, but even with that, I had the best results with Miracid brand.

Beautiful she may be, but Google "plastic surgery disasters" for a sneak preview into the future. Britt Eckland comes to mind... And Meg Ryan. -

But there's a huge difference between tweaking Granny's brownie recipe to make them more chocolaty, and adding hashish to the mix. Hash brownies just aren't fair to someone who needs to lose weight. -

I'm enough of a wingnut that I think food companies are putting stuff in their processed food that makes people crave more. It may be as simple as sugar, or high fructose corn sweetener. But I suspect it's also one of those multisyllable chemicals like potassium disorbate. Got a real eye opening after my bypass when they had me on the treadmill for rehab. An hour on the treadmill only burned up the calories of a small order of fries. I'd have to be on the belt for hours and hours to offset that double meat burger that came with the fries. Exercise makes me feel better, but diet is the key to me losing weight. My favorite exercises in BKK were renting a canoe at Q Sirikit or Lumpini Park for upper body and riding a bike for lower body. Running was too hard on my knees and hip, and gyms were boring.
