impulse replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Seriously? Over a dozen minor district court judges have stepped in and claimed nationwide jurisdiction over what the president can and cannot do as the head of the executive branch.- 72 replies

That seems rather fair. -
Cyber Security Experts Claim Musk Hacked the Election
impulse replied to jaywalker2's topic in Political Soapbox
I read it. But if you had been following along since 2016 (and before), there were machines for sale on Ebay that the states didn't even know were missing. So the kraken team didn't have a monopoly of access to the machines and the codes. Every MSM outlet published articles about the vulnerability of the machines after the 2016 election, and they went wild after the 2018 midterms. Then they went silent after the 2020 election. In fact, quieter than silent. They actually squelched and sued any mention. Why is that? Now the lefties are back again after the machine results didn't go their way in 2024. Edit: Regarding conspiracy theories, I've always contended that I'd believe one side was up to no good, or even both sides. But you can't convince me, based on the evidence, that the machines were (or are) secure. -
Cyber Security Experts Claim Musk Hacked the Election

So let me get this straight. The machines that delivered the most secure election in US history are suddenly suspect? But they were beyond reproach in 2020... -
I'm a retired Petroleum Engineer that isn't asking for advice then insulting the very people that could help me.

How dare me what? Defend you from someone accusing you of having nefarious intent? Last time I'll do that...

Why? I get asked a couple of times a year if I'd stop by a school and just practice conversational English with the kids. Both in Thailand and in China. Their mechanically adequate English skills could use some real world polishing, from taking to a native speaker. If my schedule changes and frees up some predictable time, my first step would be to get legal. That means a police check. Nothing nefarious about it. We're not all here for the beer and the broads.

Shhhh. Don't jinx it. Or there won't be any seats available, even if it doesn't shut down because you just jinxed it.

Or, it's possible that the OP is considering volunteering to fill up some idle time, instead of polishing a barstool all day, every day. And this is a step in that direction.

That's the thing about cognitive decline. The victim doesn't recognize it, so it's up to others to make their decisions. Which the Dem elites tragically (and criminally) didn't do. For him, or for the country. The woman was not a viable candidate. Any shred of self awareness should have told her that.

4.7 Trillion in payments were missing tracking Code

Not to mention Hegseth has asked for DOGE help getting their financial and accounting systems out of the 1950's. And he wouldn't be asking if he didn't get marching orders from the top. -
If that's all it took to keep Putin from attacking on his watch, maybe Obama and Biden should have taken one for the team (and world peace) and given Putin a hummer. Instead, they both allowed him to attack Ukraine on their respective watches. But somehow, I think hummers figure bigger in Kamala's origin story than Trump's relationship with Putin.

In your story, I think Obama played the part of Commodus, and the USA's been circling the drain since then. Trump is playing the part that Mr. Clean used to play in those commercials when I was a kid. Edit: I credit Kamala and Pelosi for derailing Obama's 4th term. And Clooney (and others) helped...

If she had shown a shred of self awareness, she would have insisted on a mini-primary when Joe was thrown under the bus. Still, I don't blame her. She can't help herself. She's been handed stuff all her life for being pretty and... well, you know. It's the knobs that put forward that disaster of a candidate. So instead, we have Trump. Which history will show to be her most significant contribution. For that, you get my hearty thanks, Kamala. A decent Dem candidate would have beat Trump.

You don't see the irony in discussing felating in a thread about Kamala?

Thanks. I had eventually figured that out. I was following the instructions on the box to go in and change the admin name and password, so I plugged it in (like it says on the box) and it became an "ethernet router" for a few minutes. Then I unplugged it and was able to log into it via wifi. I'm relearning. It's been ages since I set up any routers. And my brain leaks when I sleep. I do appreciate the suggestions. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had problems with hotel wifi. Hopefully, others can learn from my mistakes.

Just a reminder that the free concert tonight starts at 17:30

I just sent myself a text from my AIS phone. The pocket router is just sitting there... Nothing. Nada. Zip. I logged into the router using the USB cable and I can see the text I sent, but I still can't respond. I get "send failed". The TRUE account doesn't include voice or text. Data only. It's always one thing, or it's the other...

That may be true for me, but I suspect there are others tuned in that may benefit from my mistakes. Anyone who occasionally has crappy wifi when they're traveling and staying in cheap hotels or lounging in airports or train stations. That's not just tourists... Though it's tough to justify $88 a year unless you're going to use it a bit. It'll be more than worth it to me. There have been a couple of times when the hotel wifi went tits up when I was in the middle of booking a cheap flight.
