  1. Donovan was one of those "you had to be there" artists. His stuff hasn't aged well.
  2. Just finished listening to Scott Adams's "Win Bigly" that explains a lot of that... (The Dilbert guy) He's got a lot of insights, having been mostly a liberal and lived on both coasts. He explains a lot of the infuriating stuff Trump has done in the context of West Coast norms vs NYC norms. To be clear, I didn't take 10+/- hours out of my day. I listened to it while I was doing other things. Over a few days. Worth reading, because you can probably skim it in 1-2 hours. Takes a lot longer as an audio.
  3. Wait until the other shoe drops and they add all the unemployed "newcomers" to the numbers in the available labor pool. The number of full time jobs has gone up 2 million or so above pre-Covid, while the number of illegals has gone up by 10+ million. Yet, unemployment numbers (and your labor participation rates) don't reflect that. Because they're not being counted as "available labor". Yet. They're waiting until after the election (and probably after Trump's inauguration) to add them to the labor pool, resulting in much higher unemployment and much lower labor participation numbers. That they can then blame on Trump.
  4. I'm waiting to see what they throw at Gaffigan after his gems at Al Smith. Just like they did to Eric Adams after he revealed the true cost of caring for "newcomers". Both of them heroes to the left. (Or at least, well tolerated) Until they weren't. Just like the Tates.
  5. If you settled up on the spot, you were probably scammed. If you didn't get a receipt, you were definitely scammed. Happens to all most of us. Edit: BTW, that doesn't mean you didn't break any laws.
  6. It's a shame to lose all those pharmacies just before the biggest mental healthcare crisis that country has ever seen.
  7. One of the reasons I'm so looking forward to a Trump win is that it'll free up the MSM to report on election irregularities, like they did after every election up until 2020. Nothing had really changed, but that one became the "fairest and most secure" in the history of democracy.
  8. I had to toss my cornflakes and start with a new bowl. Too much spit in them...
  9. One of my favorite malls in Houston, called Greenspoint, got the nickname Gunspoint in the '80s and it was downhill from there. Used to go there a few times a week for sporting goods (fishing mostly), movies and to eat. None of my family have been there in years. (Haven't bought a pair of Florsheims in decades, either) Look at a lot of the store closings, and it's because the shrink makes it impossible to make a profit. Online sales is a big factor, but crime is (IMO) just as big. Between fear of being mugged and "shrinkage", brick and mortar is doomed by crime alone. I blame that on the Ferguson effect. On an aside, Thailand does malls right. Mostly food and drink (which doesn't work well online) and the retail is a side beneficiary. Still, I suspect a lot of the retail in the Thai malls is money laundering. I see shops that never seem to have a customer, watching for an hour or so from a nearby eatery. And I scratch my head.
  10. First, it was Bill Clinton lamenting the murders by Harris/Biden newcomers. Now it's Lizzo giving Trump a boost, at a Kamala rally: Pop singer Lizzo spoke at a campaign rally for Vice President Kamala Harris in Detroit, Michigan, Saturday, telling the audience that “if Kamala wins then the whole country will be like Detroit.” It just keeps getting better and better. https://dailycaller.com/2024/10/19/lizzo-tells-swing-state-voters-support-kamala-whole-country-will-be-like-detroit/
  11. Gaffigan rocked it... I wonder what they'll indict him for? Jim Gaffigan: “If I am too critical of Vice President Harris, I will lose friendships and mess up my career,” he said. “And if I am too critical of President Trump, I will lose friendships and improve my career. You know what I mean?” “The Democrats have been telling us Trump’s reelection is a threat to democracy. In fact, they were so concerned of this threat, they staged a coup, ousted their democratically elected incumbent, and installed Kamala Harris. In other words, all her dreams have come true,”
  12. You mean when he called a couple of pauses for people being treated for medical emergencies? The Dems would have just kept yakking, and let them die.
  13. You're linking to a Latino news source that points to an opinion piece in a San Antonio rag. And you didn't even bother to link to the San Antonio rag... Weak sauce. I'd add that, had the FBI and the MSM not squelched the laptop story, Trump would be close to finishing his 2nd term. So Vance is right.
  14. I think you're missing the point of my post, which is that agents know what works, this week. They keep up with the trends and intricacies, and even the stupidities. That's my recommendation. Pay someone who knows. But I'd suggest that be plan A. Once they've been declined, I don't imagine the odds go up on any 2nd try, unless there's some time in between. (In fact, is there a waiting period before she can apply again? I don't claim to know)
  15. I don't think Trump holds a candle to Slick Willie, either. If the Lolita Express gave out airmiles, he'd never have to pay for a hotel stay, anywhere. For life.
  16. I'm scratching my head trying to figure out the goal of their dastardly plan.
  17. What a daft comment They could have drafted Big Mike, but nooooooo. They decided on Kamala. Probably because they could use pretzel logic to keep the Biden/Harris money in play. Little did they know that they could raise a cool $ billion to fight the Bad Orange Man. Had they foreseen that, there were dozens of Dems that were more qualified and likeable. Choosing Kamala was an own goal.
  18. Patel's profile shows she previously spent time in the Hillary Clinton campaign from October to November of 2016. She included the description “travelled to the US to campaign for Clinton in the presidential election.” I wonder if the statute of limitations has expired?
  19. When I helped a female Thai friend get her 10 year tourist visa to the USA, we hired a agent. They suggested I keep my name completely out of the process. I did, and she got approved first try. She had a good Thai job and had gone to college in Aus, but no assets to speak of. My takeaway... Pay the experts to do what they do every day of the week. I don't recall what it cost, but I didn't flinch. And I'm a cheap bastard.
  20. Sign the amicable agreement and move on. It's not worth it. That big knot is in your stomach. Not theirs.
  21. So how does that revoke flood protection from anyone? Here's some of NRDC's other good work. You'll find these at the bottom of their DEI page. ... https://www.nrdc.org/about/office-diversity-equity-and-inclusion
  22. Some people like the promise of free stuff. Others learned long ago that a free lunch is like Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and a fiscally responsible politician during an election year. And hen's teeth.
  23. Reading that article, my heart goes out to all those PA Dems who are going to take it in the shorts because they couldn't put lipstick on the pig. It's not their fault. But they'll be getting the blame.
  24. I'll admit that I was not aware of that. I think the problem's going to be when they find out how few hostages survived. I hope I'm wrong, but I suspect some bad news...
