  1. Number of Privately Owned Firearms

The estimated total number of guns (both licit and illicit) held by civilians in the United States is 270,000,0001 to 310,000,0002

the estimated variance of the amount of guns in America (40 million firearms) would arm every Thai from 15-54 years old

    15-24 years: 15.1% (male 5,181,468/female 4,975,083)

    25-54 years: 45.6% (male 15,192,334/female 15,569,761)

When I got my FOID card (firearm owners ID) I mailed in a photo that I took myself with $10. Could have been a picture of anyone, pretty ridiculous. That is all you need to handle or buy a gun and ammo in the good old US of A.

Is probably more than they do for most weapons that are in Thai hands at the moment

Maybe they compared it against your driving licence and passport pic without you knowing about it? USA is not exactly transparent when it comes to security measures

  2. does anyone else wonder why mark zuckerberg married such a dog?

I didn't know he was married.

    so I googles it.

What was interesting were the options.

    First option was 'mark zuckerberg'

Third option was 'mark zuckerberg net worth'

Fourth option was 'mark zuckerberg biography'

The second option was 'mark zuckerberg wife'

Must be true love ... rolleyes.gif

Maybe she's got "talents" we can't see from the picture....

  3. I love guns, loved them in the US, love them in Thailand.

But there is a big difference between gun culture in the two countries.

US, lots of rifles, most guns kept in the home (unloaded) or the car (loaded), very few carrying.

Thailand, mainly handguns, most guns kept on the person (loaded), usually in a belly bag, never seen so many men carrying.

Just curious but how long since you have been back to US?

Alot of concealed carry nowadays...its quite the rage.

So many of them fantasizing they can be a hero in some robbery attempt...all want to pretend they are cops.

Slightly different scenario but a guy in montana had his garage broken into twice by teenagers and got pissed so he set a trap. He left the garage door open with a purse in plain site. He wired in motion detectors and a CCTV. He told his barber he wanted to teach those kids a lesson.

A kid walked into the garage one night, the homeowner fired four rounds from his shotgun into the garage, striking the kid twice and killing him. It was a German exchange student.

A human life taken for nothing. Thats gun culture in the US today.

Its not like it was when I was a kid growing up when we could bring our shiotgun to gradeschool in the morning and leave it in the principals office to hunt pheasants on the way home.

I have no idea about the legality of this "trap" but in all honesty I don't think it is fair to give the impression the exchange student was right (by saying "a life taken for nothing"). Whether it was an exchange student, a homeless man, or wealthy individual; they don't have any right to trespass on private property regardless of whether there is a pile of gold or not waiting to stolen. In the end the homeowner may get charged with a crime, but then again, maybe not - what's known for sure is that nobody should be trespassing on anybody's private property.

Sure, nobody should be trespassing. But killing a young kid because he entered your garage unarmed, pissed and looking for booze. I would have been dead ten times over if I had grown up in the Land of the Free.

Are you saying you have illegally entered and stolen from 10+ people's homes??

  4. So you would have no problem pursuing a relationship with a Thai girl who was willing to accept money for sex?

You're going to be a very lonely man in Thailand with that attitude.

There's plenty of girls in Thailand who don't have sex for money and get offended if you even offer. You're just too caught up with bar girls..

True enough .. but I often wonder what would happen if you offered "enough " I'm not talking first date but maybe 2 or 3 down the line!

    in most cases,

    you would be dissapointed

Depends what amount you consider "enough"

I think even "rich" would consider a money4sex deal if it made then "richer"

Of course, most people don't have pockets deep enough to play such games but if you offered a few million baht how many would say no? :-)

every single girl who is not a whore,

    will say no,

Offer them a mansion and a Ferrari and see what happens ..... ;-)

  5. An unjust law is an unjust law, regardless of race or creed or nationality. And I consider the right to earn a living a basic human right, because it's what puts food on the table.

The reason Thailand requires work permits of foreigners is to protect jobs for Thais who can do that particular, specific job. Which is good, and something the U.S. could learn from. But be real, what Thai is losing his job by Joe Smith trading futures by internet, or drafting houses for an architect back in the States, or working as a consulting engineer for a California based company? I know a guy here who designs websites for Fortune 100 companies, something that took him years to achieve. Do you really think he's taking someone's job in Khon Kaen?

He's the exception, not the rule...

Most farangs are not doing anything as highly qualified as that

What type of visa does he hold ?

  7. We don't know what kind of bike you want, maybe you could let us know why a Spark.

I would get a Suzuki Raider anyday; it's far more bike for the money.

DOHC 150cc, 6 speed, and big disc brakes.

It's like a real bike but smaller.

Same same, but different as they say.

    totally agree.

Raider is the best option in Thailand now in terms of power and handling.

6 speed, 150 cc DOHC engine and a very light bike. This combination makes it so zippy.

And you pay 20 k more and get a lot of bike.

On paper the Raider looks better than the Spark.

But we've tried it, not just theory. Repeatedly.

Line them up next to each other and the Spark will leave the Raider behind.

Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but facts is facts.
The Raider exhaust is a lot louder so therefore safer and more badass, I guess.

for the price of a new raider you could get a used cbr 250r

thats probably what id go for ,theres loads of them for sale atm

    going cheap

  8. probably 50% of thai companies cant be bothered answering emails .........

i would just go into a few bike shops until i find what im looking for or a dealer who can order it

ps. you might get a reply faster if you write something on their facebook page ..........TIT

  9. We see a lot of men without brains walking around in Pattaya and they don't seem to get in trouble.

If you worked in the police station on night shift you woud find a huge amount get in trouble every night of the week

Just because the bib are happy to empty their pockets and let them go out to do it again unrecorded doesn't mean they weren't there in the first place...

  10. There's a Vespa workshop on Ratchada soi 17 that only work on Vespas. The shop is always overflowing with them.

I live there and I've never seen any around bar China town where they seem to be all congregated

But bkk is full of old scrap yards you could never find in a million years of you didn't know what you were looking for

I found a place by accident that was full of ancient European cars from the 60s, 70s and 80s

everything from jaguars, mercs and beamers and even some original style vw beetles from God knows when....

No idea how he pays the rent unless he owns the place but whenever I pass he's usually working on different cars so there must be a niche market that know where he is and driving these kind of cars etc..

  11. Any decent places I've rented have insisted on two months deposit and one months rent in advance

That means 3 months cash to play with and rent due in 4 weeks

There would have been nothing to steal that exceeded my deposit and u don't normally get to rent anything without id even in thailand...... Strange story

  12. Anyone know where to get one that doesnt sound too bad ?

A chinese replica of akrapovic ,leo vince ,two bros or a thai made brand would probably be fine

as long as it improves the sound (seen loads really cheap for the er6n and ninja 650r but not many for Versys )

not worried about performance gains although weight loss is never a bad thing ........
