On a long-distance bus/coach journey, how safe are my bags?
Ohyesuare replied to Badger18's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
I could tell my bag was opened and gone through on a long distance bus journey in Thailand. There was a dodgy looking guy sitting there, arranging the bags. Luckily I didn't have anything valuable in it. -
Emergency 7 days Extension
Ohyesuare replied to Bingo66's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Knowing someone who just recently got the emergency extension, it's highly likely you will not get it without an already booked flight out of Thailand within those days. As someone else said, it is not an automatic type of extension like the initial 30 day one is. Good luck. -
Open Thai Bank Account
Ohyesuare replied to UKPaul67's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Many agents will assist you in opening a bank account for a fee if you are unable to get a long term visa at the moment. -
divorced but staying on marriage visa
Ohyesuare replied to stoicccc's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
As I understand it, once the divorce was finalized legally, your marriage visa became invalid irregardless of the expiry date of your current permission to stay so you are now on overstay and subject to a minimum one year ban and 20k fine depending on if you are able to leave voluntarily before being tracked down and arrested or not. The same thing if you have a work permit but quit/get fired or an ED visa but stop studying. -

Indian national arrested for overstaying his visa by 1,200 days
Ohyesuare replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Pretty much. Keeps the honest people honest. Unless the overstayers are out in the middle of nowhere for the rest of their life, they'll eventually be caught. -
Indian national arrested for overstaying his visa by 1,200 days
Ohyesuare replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
He was sharing his visa with 3 others so he really only overstayed 300 days. -
Indian national arrested for overstaying his visa by 1,200 days

Err most people staying here for 1200 days aren't staying in hotels or guesthouses and there's an endless supply of cheap apartments that only ask for the rent money in cash and not a passport or ever bother doing a TM30. -
Possibly. I did hear that as well and that they would be cracking down somewhat on people who apply for it. Could also just be my agent being overly paranoid as well. I was also told by Thai Elite that a certification letter is no longer required for the extension at Jomtien Immigration but the agent insisted I ask for one anyway. Also couldn't have my backpack showing in the photo at all. Very strange for a completely legitimate extension that I could have done myself while there if I really wanted to. Anyway got my passport the next day with the one year extension without issue and that's all that matters. Wouldn't exactly say it was 2600 baht well spent but glad I got it sorted before/after the Songkran holidays.

I was there a few days ago to meet the agent for my one year Elite Visa extension because they now require a photo of you right in front of Jomtien immigration. I paid an agent to do it even though I paid 600k baht for my completely legit EV and supposedly can get express service by asking for a certain immigration officer once I enter because I loathe having to set foot near that immigration. Even for the short time I was there and even though I never even had to enter the building, I hated every minute. Miserable, rude people everywhere and a mess of disorganization. Hopefully the last time I need to go there or at least not for another year guaranteed.

Agoda Booking Scam
Ohyesuare replied to Dan747's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
You won't eat the charge, you do a chargeback through Visa since it was unauthorized/fraud. -
Apparently you are still charged that fee for using an ATM outside of your home bank province when doing cardless withdrawals but it's charged separately. You can check your transactions to confirm though as I haven't tested it myself but have seen screenshots showing that from someone else who did.

Swedish Man Arrested on Samui Island for 75 Days of Overstaying
Ohyesuare replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
Probably stays in the IDC until he can scrape up the funds or convince the embassy to loan enough for a flight. -
New TM30 required even for change of unit in the same condo. Rental agent might change their mind if you inform them that the owner could be fined along with you for not doing it as required by law or they might not. I remember in previous discussions, you are able to do one on your own but it requires stuff like the owner's ID card and house book etc.. I'm not an expert on TM30 stuff though so I'm sure someone more knowledgable than me on that will chime in. You'd only be fined for not reporting a change of address when you go to do an extension of your stay though.

Gambling is illegal in Thailand online or offline. Highly doubt you would get jailed and/or deported just for doing it though.

Pattaya Police Ban Airhorns at Bars Citing Noise Pollution
Ohyesuare replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
No more ringing the bell I guess. -
Wednesday afternoon, couldn't get a driver to accept from Pratamnak to Central Festival. Definitely can't blame them because the traffic is just ridiculous now even during the day and in the middle of the week. Hopefully low low season comes soon and things get better.

She got tired of watching you do it so she switched to watching it on TV for some variety.
