  1. What good would that do? Just way off-topic. In the OP's case, the debt was written off and not pursued within the 2 years they had the time to do so. 6 years later now, it cannot be pursued legally if a payment has not been made on the debt.
  2. Yes, the 2 years is how long the lender has to make a claim. If they don't make one within those 2 years, the statute of limitations comes into effect and they can no longer purse the debt unless the person owing money renews it by making even a small payment.
  3. Besides it being statute and not statue, your sentence makes no sense. The statute does apply to credit card debt, which is what this is and it wouldn't be an active case any longer after 2 years which is when the statute of limitations would come into effect.
  4. All you have to do is google thailand statute of limitations on debt and multiple reliable sources say that it is 2 years. Very important to know, If she makes any small payment now, she resets that statute which means she is then liable to be sued for it. There is also the Debt Collection Act which offers her many protections against unscrupulos practices from debt collectors trying to harass her and severely limits them in how they can go about it with harsh consequences for them if they violate it. http://report.dopa.go.th/laws/document/2/231.pdf I suggest reading for yourself like I suggested earlier rather than taking the word of random strangers on this forum.
  5. Thai commercial law stipulates that debt has to be collected in a period of maximum 2 years. Sounds like as you correctly assumed, the company wrote off the debt and possibly sold off a database of non-payees cheap to some scummy collection agency whose job is to scare/make threats in order to collect whatever they can. Not saying it was right for your GF to not pay off her debt but it's too late for that now and paying some scummy company who buys debt for pennies on the dollar isn't really gonna make things right. I am not a lawyer or anything close to one so do not take anything I said as fact and do your own clarifications.
  6. It's more the branch than the bank that matters. You'd have the best luck with one in a more isolated area and if you find one willing to open one for you, it will very likely come with the requirement of purchasing their insurance for 6000 baht or something like that.
  7. They'll consider reopening bars January 15th instead of 16th.
  8. They're more concerned when you try and take out large amounts.
  9. That's a good question. The official source I was looking at said nothing about a visa being a requirement to apply but if they do ask for it optionally or it is required if you do have a visa then it's probably best to wait until you get your visa first as like @ubonjoestated, you have plenty of time to apply.
  10. He said he wants to do things in advance. My purpose for asking HIM was because a visa is not one of the requirements to apply for the Thailand Pass and I was trying to be helpful incase HE didn't know that as many people apply for both their visa and the pass at the same time. As far as I know, it's ok for other people to try and be helpful sometimes on this forum besides you, correct?
  11. No issues here. Are you using a VPN? Maybe you were assigned a "Bad IP" and if so, resetting your internet modem might fix it.
  12. Try https://www.namstaxipattaya.com/ female drivers and always good service.
  13. When you log into your account, there is a notification bell thing that should be highlighted. I believe I clicked on that and was able to agree to their conditions through there.
  14. As of now they are ending November 27th 2021. That's the last date that you can apply for a COVID extension unless they decide to extend it. Has nothing to do with Germany. No idea what you're talking about with your boy and February either. The expiry of your permission to stay date is how long you can stay. If the COVID extensions are ended on November 27th but your permission to stay says December 27th, then you can stay until December 27th. Did the best I could to make sense of your confusingly worded question.
  15. Terms actually say Thai credit card only to make payments with PayPal Thailand on a personal account but I'd suggest having a look through them yourself and of course, it's always subject to change before it goes live February next year.
  16. I just had one go through a couple of days ago if that matters.
  17. Western Union has similar new regulations. Their pimps have partnered with other different online payment systems so they'll be just fine I think.
  18. Hover over their username and you'll see Message in the lower left.
  19. This is correct. Remember that this "relaunch" was originally supposed to happen at the beginning of THIS year, not next year so they are/were communicating that existing customers can use their account for now until the changes come into effect. Once you receive the emails and on-site notices, you either agree to their relaunch terms and use their useless, watered down version or you don't and you won't be able to use the account at all.
  20. No, I have had both linked for a long time and still got the notice that my account will not be able to hold a balance or receive/send payments after Feb 2022. Don't list to anything clueless @Liverpool Lousays would be my advice. Strikes me as someone with more than a few screws loose.
