Migrant Workers Occupy Korat Home of Thai-Australian Couple

In some countries, even Thailand, this problem would need the input of the local mafia or triads who would intervene where the police would not or could not. Buy the squatters some tables in restaurant to show good faith and the squatters would then exit the house without losing face. Asian style problem solving. -

I disagree. Thais are still ‘greng jai’ as it is so ingrained in their culture. It depends upon where your social interaction is. There is a patronage culture in Thai society. -

You cannot tar all Thais with the same brush. however so called expats are supposed to be of higher status and thus at expected to behave in public especially towards lower status Thais.. be mindful. -

Udom you are correct. Defensive driving at all times, spatial awareness spider sense on, expect the worst of Thai drivers and overcompensate for their lack of driving skills. Moreover NEVER drive on unfamiliar rural surroundings at night time. -

If you want to live a long happy retirement life in Thailand , you got to take Thailand’s social and economic standards into account and cut it some slack. Cheap living is just what it is… together with the accompanying frustrations. You just cannot implant your home country’s living and social standards into Thailand. -

Life is cheap in Thailand thus the nonsense of non helmet wearing. Insurance payout is also cheap. Add the notion of karma and low social economic factors to it and you got a potent mixture of accidents just waiting to happen. -

Maybe Thais ride motorbikes out of necessity due to social environment? I have seen rural school kids barely out of their teens on motorbikes to school, motorbikes carrying people and goods way out of their capacity, villages way out of public transport routes and others. -
Simple. The police just bring the footage and show local people in the brawl area to identify these trouble makers as they surely frequent these areas in ungodly hours.

It is the suppressed male hormones exploding like a volcano when it peaked. Bolstered by the fact that they were cut some slack. The fact that they are always armed with a stiletto shoe helps too. -

Stiletto is basically a blunt ice pick in structure… so you get a bigger hole on your head when hit only not as deep. -
Thai roads are a danger for driving at night. Twin trailer truck are a menace on winding roads especially lamphang highland. I always try not to drive at night on rural hilly terrain if possible. For a long distance trip up north from Bangkok to chiangmai or chiangrai , try to have a pit stop at a transit hotel after 4/5 hours driving. Having a good night rest is essential too. A good back up plan is having a missus along to drive if feeling too tired . Works well for me for more than 25 years of living in Thailand. If thailand has less than adequate road conditions and doggy drivers, work to our benefit to have a preemptive attitude and situational awareness at all times. take care out there …

Self entitlement person treating a person of lower social status. Thais can be unpredictable in their reactions. They react first before thinking. There are a few cases of the workers killing their bosses during disputes too.
