  1. I cannot say whether you are right or wrong here, but I cannot imagine countries jailing former PM's for things they did while still in office. Look at Blair in the UK, if any PM deserved to be jailed it is him, does WMD and Iraq not spring to mind? I cannot believe that Yingluck has done worse than that, and don't forget the soldier who led an illegal coup and stayed in office here for nine years, protected only by soldiers, guns and tanks. Neither Yingluck or her brother have done worse than that either.
  2. I did not see any of the other replies until after I posted this.
  3. Your last paragraph is rubbish, what do speedhumps do for the emergency vehicles? Just think about this. I personally witnessed an ambulance with flashing lights have to come to an almost stop, then there are another two speedhumps further up the road, then the three on their way back to the hospital. How much time is wasted there because of speedhumps when someone needs to get to the hospital in an emergency?
  4. I agree entirely with this post, but imagine you are a stranger in a town driving along a busy road, you are not going to see a crossing until you are almost on it, true you are driving quite slow because of other traffic and parked vehicles, so you are unlikely to be involved in an accident. What is really required is the UK way of flashing lights and zig zag lines. Better still do away with crossings altogether and replace them with pedestrian operated lights. Though I suppose this being Thailand it would be too much of an inconvenience to make sure the lights are always working.
  5. Could you please explain a "couple hits"? Is it to do with alcohol, smokes, or a couple of visits to one of these short time rooms?
  6. I have seen a couple if signs on the walls of restaurants in the Soi Buckawo area asking that no customer comes in shirtless. If I came into a restaurant and there was anyone dining shirtless I would ask to see the boss and tell him/her why I am now not dining in his/her restaurant.
  7. The miners caused the election with blackouts etc then Wilson became PM in the early 70's then led the country to bankruptcy in 1976, then the country had to get bailed out by the IMF. At no time did I mention that Labour were in power all through the seventies.
  8. No, I remember as a young guy Harold Wilson leading the country into bankruptcy in the seventies and every Labour government since robbing the working class with all sorts of tax increases, and made up taxes ie SET whatever that meant, and what about Blair and Brown? Need I say more?
  9. Labour has never had any working class roots in my adult lifetime.
  10. Respect has to be earned, it is certainly not been earned with their very obvious dislike of ex pats.
  11. Cheap Charlie's may have good cheap food but the actual service is dreadful.
  12. I bought a pair from Lazada too, can't remember the make, but very poor like a lot of their products.
  13. Bluetooth, I bought the earbuds from Amazon for about 25GBP. Great value.
  14. I hope the dirty coward is made to pay the old guy's medical expenses.
  15. I bought that Samsung A15 for about 5000Bt but the sound of playing downloaded music is very poor so I am back to my Redmi which costs about 10,000Bt.
  16. Just waiting now for some poster to use Peltin Elton as a user name, but at least Elvis could sing.
  17. It is not excessive, their bikes should have been confiscated as well. These -------noisy motorbikes are just a nuisance.
  18. I would avoid Cheap Charlies in Soi Bukawo, two nights in a row I asked a waitress (the same one) if I could order a carry out and was completely ignored, I can understand her being busy, but if she would just have acknowledged me I would have been prepared to wait. Kung's I would fully recommend, excellent for a carry out and always service with a smile.
  19. Did I say there was?? Read my post again from the beginning.
  20. There must be times when you will need advice from other posters, I have no farang friends anywhere near me, so I would be lost without the help of many AN posters.
  21. Yes, all this Thai immigration nonsense bothers me a lot, when I first came to live here about 20 years ago, all that was required was a very pleasant less than 200K drive to the border for a stamp. Now look at the difference today.
  22. If this driver was part of other tuk tuk drivers committing or threatening violence against farangs then he deserved what he got, if he wasn't then no, he did not deserve it.
  23. I have tried a few times to get through to them without success, even though they admit I have an account with them.
  24. I have some respect for you because of your post count, but in recent months AN has improved a lot, especially with a lot of good information for us expats. I do not believe that the "king" or any Admins would be responsible for the mix up with the photo's.
