  1. Utorrent and magnets....

In case it happens to you (I recently had a problem with magnet links from a multitude of sites with Firefox responding - Firefox doesn't know how to open this address.) It was a problem with Utorrent that occurred one day last week.

The problem was not with firefox but with Utorrent.

In Utorrent I went to Preferences - General - Windows Integration.

Clicked on the box that says Associate With Magnet.

    Closed Utorrent.

Went back to Pirate Bay and clicked on the magnet link and it asked what program I wanted to associate with magnet links and I clicked Utorrent.

Maybe a similar problem with other torrent clients?

  2. Saha Farms plant had faced liquidity problems...

So why arent the police investigating the owner, if the owner had torched the place...nice little pay out on the insurance and blame the those pesky foreigners for doing it...sorted

This was my first cynical thought too on reading the article.

Such an easy thing to do to blame it on poor, underpaid and maybe very hungry workers. Not hard to plan something like this knowing you are going under anyway. Then blame the natives.

  3. I honestly cannot see the problem with d2d phoning back to confirm the order. It delays the order by a whopping 10 minutes? Oh, dear me. But is that not better than having to try 3 times with food panda and also having a delay of 2 hours and having to start from scratch?

  4. Or you can go to a small hospital like the one on Soi Buakhao.

The receptionists do not ask what the problem is, they take your name, height, weight and temperature before you sit outside the doctors surgery itself and talk to him / her.

You can even close the door and get some privacy if you wish smile.png

Pay your 100 Baht + meds after seeing the doc.

Any blood tests or extras will be discussed at a desk to set a date for those.

  5. In all my time here in Thailand I have had incorrect orders brought to the table, be they ordered by Thai or myself.

On one occassion a friend ordered a fish dish - where it comes in the bowl with the flame underneath - and she was handed a single fish on a plate!! cheesy.gif

Sometimes it is even something as simple as ordering a beer and they cannot even bring the correct beer to the table. Leo yai, please. You get something completely different.

What goes on inside some people's heads, I have no idea. Maybe brain bashing from their mobile phones?

  6. Family, good free medical, are the main reasons I go home to Australia twice a year.Main reason I stay in Thailand I have a nice looking girl there.I am ugly and cannot get a girl in Australia

even handsome guys can not get nice girls in western countries or Australia . why? nice girls are already married, nice girls are Gay, nice girls want babies and house. at the end you got the remaining women who are fat, ugly and lonely.

I met a nice girl in Thailand and moved with her after 2 weeks, she has everything what a man want... (all in 1). in usa I will never get a woman like that.

For many it is not about women and sex. Many are happy as they are and comfortable with what they understand.

I have to admit from a personal point of view though that there are very few women back home in my age bracket that I would want to be with.

    Here, it is ideal ;)

  7. Actually have to agree with some of the things klubex99 said in his post #170 regarding catching taxis and tuk-tuks. My wife avoids them if possible, but we have a car and 2 bikes in Chiang Mai and live right in the city so we don't use the public transport all that often. Having said that I have never had any problems with tuk-tuks in Chiang Mai when I have used them.

The very first time I came to Thailand I had to catch a taxi from Don Muang airport to my hotel, the Indra Regeant. We were nearly into the city when the taxi driver informed me he had no idea where the hotel was. Then he showed me the rather large handgun he had under the driver's seat and told me he was an off duty policeman moonlighting, showed me his police ID which looked legit. When we finally arrived at the hotel I gave him a tip and he gave me his phone number and said if I get into any strife to ring him and he would come and "sort it out". Welcome to Thailand !

Yes, BIB will come and sort your problem out when you pay him 1XXX +, giving his phone number is his way of advertising, make no mistake, there is no BIB who "helping" falang for free, they don't even like us whistling.gif

    I disagree with that.

I've met some very nice and helpful police here in my time and it cost me nothing except being friendly.

They are not all the same, though those who do scam and take bribes get a lot more publicity.

  8. I have to say I am saddened over this type of act and if - as said - over a fare dispute, that makes it even sadder. The taxi driver needs to be made an example of, if only as a warning to others.

  9. The future of flying ?

    <deleted>' Funny I reckon.

    .

Reminds me of certain budget airlines and I'm sure they would do this given half a chance.

Paying £1 to use the toilet on the aircraft? What is in this vid could well happen cheesy.gif

  10. Thank op.

So what you are saying is that you can buy Yorkshire tea bags if anyone wants then and they're a good price at the moment,

Or that's what I think it means.

I buy 3 box from Tesco for £2.37 a box of 160 tea bags, its no problem to bring with me.

    I am in. I want 3 boxes.

See, someone who appreciates a good cuppa ;)

  11. Maybe a lot of people can move out here if they so wished but it may be the case that they are more comfortable with what they know and understand. The cost of living does not play a part in it for them.

Plenty have families, grandchildren, a nice home and friends.

Some are not adventurous. Many different reasons.

I have friends who moved out to Bulgaria and to Turkey. They love it there and it was cheap when they moved there. They would not even consider Thailand because we are all different with different needs and expectations.

  12. Pattaya for holiday in September saw HALF PRICE in TESCO Buy 3 box 160 TEA BAGS, DO NOT DRINK TEA,May be someone from Yorkshire want, 160 YORKSHIRE TEA BAGS FOR £2.37 a box, can you buy 160 tea bags for 1.4p each in Pattaya , if so i shut up.

Now the OP has clarified his original post......

I think that is very good and fair of the OP to offer that. There are many who like a good cup of tea and would be thankful of the offer.

No need to slag the guy off.

    Nice one OP :)

  13. The Imobile I-Note 3 selling for under 5k seems to be a good option and seems to be available from Lotus.

    http://www.siamphone.com/en/i-mobile/i-note_wifi_3.htm

    .

I was about to mention i-mobile.

They have a shop in Tesco Lotus on Pattaya North or as Lopburi says, check their web site for all their units - 5 that I know of currently.

i-mobile might not seem fashionable to some, but the specs look good on their units.

  14. Got the water bill today. Up 90 Baht on the usual price.

Now, it is not the cost of the water at 230 Baht for one month, but the amount of water used.

Usually 8,000 litres of water per month for 2 people in one house and a bill of roughly 130 Baht per month.

I noticed last month that the water bill had risen but as it was not that much extra, I thought little of it.

Actually (2000 litres extra as I checked last months bill today) compared to previous months bills.

The new bill arrived today and the water useage has increased by 6000 a litres on previous bills / useage !! There are still two of us in the house.

What has happened in the two months where the amount of water useage has increased is the mains water has been turned off and I've been using the tank and pump.

Last week when the mains supply was off, in one day and a half 800 litres of water left the tank. Previously that 800 would have lasted 4 days, based on having had to use the tank on several occasions.

I was suspicious about such a large amount going. I checked for any leaks and found none.

What I did notice was the g/f leaving the garden hose over the top of the air con unit by the neighbours wall. Within easy reach, as is the tap. (Now the hose - on my insistence - is left well away from the wall, as of today). These are not Thai neighgbours btw, they are Indians and several of them in the house.

It makes you wonder where the water went. 6000 litres is a lot of extra water for 2 people.

Anyone else had a similar thing happen to them?

  15. We have signed up with CTH at the IT Shop on Pattaya Tai, they are waiting for boxes and say it will be around 15th July for installation...........heres hoping

They told me the 10th laugh.png Still, plenty of time anyway.

Different shops, different dates and I can see there will be confusion until the boxes themselves actually arrive.

The shop I was in today said boxes in on Monday 8th. Obviously a case of wait and see.

I'll post back when they do get them in :)

  16. Thanks for the info hotandhumid

Do you have to use a CTH dish (if so how much) or can you supply your own dish

    Thanks

Right, I went to the CTH shop in Pattaya Tai today, the latest is as follows..

He said the boxes will be ready on the 10th July, I told him where I live (Dark Side) and he said everything over there will be satellite only.

You have to pay Bt3,500 which includes a Bt1,800 deposit for the box, which you get refunded when you eventually return the box, so basically you lose Bt1,700 and there is also an installation fee of Bt300

If you want an extra box (like me) it is an additional Bt1,800 plus Bt200 per month.

As said previously the monthly fee is Bt899 per month + vat so for 2 boxes will be Bt1,099 plus vat.

I am going to go for the deal of pay for 10 months to get 2 months free, so the total for my package will be around Bt17,500 with Bt3,600 to come back at some point in the future (or maybe not laugh.png )

They also have a demo there now on their tv, not all the channels are on there, but they did have the SKY news channel.

I registered and paid a deposit of Bt1,000 so fingers crossed I will be all set up just after the 10th and then it's adios True Visions.

    H&H

You can use your own dish (True size) and cable. You will need a new LNB and have the dish pointed to the right bit of sky.

LNB is 300 Baht - quoted today ( in Pattaya).

  17. Some people like to push their ideas, ways and philosophy onto others, because they know best. That can happen on Thai Visa or in the pub. Politics (red shirts / yellow shirts are a good example).

You can rise to the bait or ignore them. I'd rather ignore them for the fools I think they are for trying to push any doctrine on me in the bar. I go out for pleasure and liesure, not to have any doctrtine rammed down my throat.

For me, it is rare to see people arguing and bickering in the pubs / bars here though.

Yep, doctrine, just like a lawyer would use. well said Pattayadingo, I appreciate the way you think.

    Thank you kind sir wub.png

pssst, people will start talking with comments like that ^^^ w00t.gif
