  1. The other visa stamp in my replacement passport (after my other passport got destroyed) is a

    Non - O

    Admitted 18 June 2012

    Until 15th Sep 2012.

    Dated 07 Aug 21012

The rest of what it says is all in Thai.

    The other is stamped

Retirement (and was given based on funds in the bank at that time).

I have to report my address every 90 days. My next address report due 12th August.

Because the ink is blurred it is hard to tell the wording on the Retirement stamp.

I believe it says on the retirement stamp ....

Extension of stay permitted until 15th Sep 2013.

  2. The ink on the Passport stamp is smudged but I believe it reads.....

Extention of stay permitted up to 15 Sep 2013
Holder must leave the kingdom within the date specified herien

I currently have the slip of paper in the passport from immigration that says ;-

Have received notification of staying in Thailand for 90 days from 15th May.
(I have to go to Immigration on or before 12th Aug 2013)

For health reasons I have decided to go back to the U.K. for a while to see my own doctor and the heart doctor. I feel I am going to be gone some months so my intent is to get everything sorted health wise before considering coming back to Thailand.

I want to stay here in Thailand until I 'have' to leave - the last possible date, that is.
Because the ink is smudged on the stamp in my passport, I want to be sure of when I have to leave Thailand according to the visa stamp.
Would that be 15th Sept 2013? (meaning a trip to immigration on or before the 12th Aug 2013 ?)

IF the 15th Sept is my last day currently - Can I get some form of extension to this (maybe for a month) without :-

    a border run.
need to show mony in the bank / proof of income

I do not currently want retirement based on income or funds in the bank.

I hope that is clear enough :)
Thanks in advance for any clear information.

  3. The lady in my life DID leave school at 13.

Is she thick as 2 short planks? No.

Is she a money grubber? No.

Is she kind, caring and loving? yes.

The point is, she came from a village where the school (one school only) educated them until the age of 13.

She has taught herself English by listening to me and by watching DLTV English lessons. And her English is very good.

She has even had her own business in the past.

  4. rude , i agree

however at this supermarket they remove the adverts every Friday morning and replace them with the next batch of adverts

the adverts have a one week shelf life, then they take them away so they cannot be replaced until they do it

this is done in a strict rotation

    so to begin:

first thing to note is there's a three to four week waiting list to display your free advert for one week only

each advert presented has to adhere to the supermarkets accepted size and it has to be laminated

once they are affixed to the board they are signed and dated by the under manager as to be valid for that week

if rogue ads appear on the boards without the signature and date in the same blue felt tip pen used by the boss, they are removed

so if you want your advert to appear every week for say four weeks you wilkl need four laminated copies of the same advert

you will then need to go every saturday for four consecutive weeks

you will leave one correctly sized laminated advert at the information desk near the cashiers and you are entered in "the book" and registered as received on that date

the following week you will have to do the same again with another correctly sized laminated advert

continue to do so for four weeks or until you get fed up

this way when your advert starts in about 4 weeks hence from the first time you registered, you will have already 3 similar adverts backlogged ready to go up weekly as the previous weeks are taken down and dumped

bribery to jump the waiting list or get an immediate re-list does not work here

    its frowned upon

you will have to trust me on that......

    Very informative.

Thanks for the good post. Helps to understand what, why and when :)

  5. 2) Soi 6 is "the" Katoey Soi so this is not a "She" but a "He". (quite a good looking one, but probably nasty as hell beneath the skin)

    You know your Sois

And yes, the guy admitted the theft.

It's been a long time, but Soi 6.1 was the katoey soi, wasn't it.

Quite a few on Soi 6 now too.

Not that I would know, you understand? laugh.png

If you sit at some of the bars having food and a beer, you can see how many katoeys there are there now.

  6. In a big supermarket this morning and went to look at the customer adverts on the board - you know the ones, downstairs near the ATM machines.

Member of staff came along and ripped every one down even while people were looking.

When the g/f tried to talk to the staff member, she had an attitude and the g/f simply said, "Go."

One lucky guy saved his ad, but almost had to fight the staff member to get it off her.

So, people have laminated their ads, pinned them up and for no reason given, they were all ripped down and dumped into a trolley.

If you've got an ad there, you may want to go and check if they are putting them back up or not, or if you have to renew them.

  7. Absolutely agree.

I am sure the OP has more sense than to follow the potentially dangerous "advice" to stop taking some of his medication.

Do not stop the amliodipine except under a doctors supervision.

Not everyone gets swollen feet. All drugs have side effects, only some people get them.

Hypertension is a serious risk to health and needs to be carefully managed. From the OP, even on these medications, his BP is still undesirably high.

Need to get another opinion as to the best medication for his particular case. ..and discontinue current only when given an alternative.

Due to the risk factor of what high BP can do to you (remembering it killed my father and after 3 strokes), I'd not stop the medication without consulting another doctor.

Side effects - I can tolerate for a while. I've noticed in the past they can recede after time. I'd rather be aware of what they are though, especially in respect of drowsiness & driving.

  8. I've been on holiday so missed much of the news........

    BUT

For those saying it might have been his g/f or an inside job......

How about a repair man, electrician, plumber, Internet technician or any other numerous people who might have been at the house to work and noticed the safe - especially as it was in plain sight.

Maybe he opened it to pay a worker.

A quick word with a dodgy mate and they all have a possible payout.

I do not care what you think on this subject, all i want to know is if you brought some gifts from your holidaybiggrin.pnglaugh.pngtongue.png

Yes, but they are far too flimsy for you to wear wub.png

One item, bought after our recent visit to the hospital and me saying nurses look sexy in uniforms.....

^^^ Is all off topic, unless a nurse or similar had visited the old guys house and informed some of her mates about the wall safe !! (that may keep this reply open laugh.png ) or not giggle.gif

Seriously though, there are safes on sale out there that open with one number dialled of the front. Why anyone would buy one is beyond belief.

  9. Many people walk away from car accidents thinking they didn't suffer any injuries only to find upon closer examination, there were some additional injuries that may not have been immediately apparent at the time, such as neck injuries or similar, which only show up later. I would like to suggest you have a proper examination by a good doctor explaining to him or her what happened before thinking the only injury you have sustained was a cut?

Sterling advice. Get to the doc, Jingthing!

    Careful!!

You are actually saying you want Jinthing to get his head examined?

    sorry JT, couldn't resist tongue.png

  10. There is madness at the set of lights at the intersection of Khao Talo and Sukhumvit road in Pattaya constantly.

The Suk road light are green, next to go is Khao Talo onto Suk road. BUT those turning from Suk road onto Khao Talo go 3rd yet there are always some m/c and the odd car that will jump the intersection between the red on Suk road and the green on Khao Talo.

They are too impatient to wait for their green light.

Often there are near misses here. Quite a few accidents too, sadly. But they will not wait their turn sad.png

  11. My other half watches DLTV every day to learn more English. She finds it is better because it is dual language.

Fox crime rates high on her agenda - spoken Thai.

Miracle TV - I often hear her laughing out loud at the antics of the 'real life' situations.

Evenings it is Thai soaps in the bedroom as I watch English tv / movies in the main room.

Every morning her main fix is...

Stargate 1 (now she is on season 8)

    BBC wildlife

    The walking dead Series 3

^^^ all 3 in English and d/l as torrents by me.

Any English horror movies I can d/l and the more gory the better (think Saw / Evil Dead etc)

I wonder who is the abnormal Thai watching tv sometimes laugh.png

  12. As Sheryl observed prescribing two different calcium channel blockers is unusual.

I do not believe you are "having a go" !

You are completely within your rights to question your prescription and you are correct in that maintaining control of your hypertension is vital to maintaining your well being.

You should attempt to secure a copy of your medical notes prior to seeing a different doctor. It should just be a matter of asking but make sure you take adequate personal ID with you (Hospital card + passport).

    Best Wishes

    I will, regards the records.

    And thanks :)

  14. I presume you are accepting advice from a Cardiologist and that your medication is prescribed by him/her.

If you are uneasy/dissatisfied with the advice you are receiving the simplest solution is to obtain a second opinion.

If you choose to seek a second opinion ensure you obtain a copy of your medical record which can then be evaluated by your chosen 2nd doctor.

    Best wishes

    As above for Sheryl's post.

It is never easy to know if a doctor is giving you the best treatment.

I tis not my intention by the way, to anyone reading these replies, to be seen to be having a go at Thai doctors.

After a near accident after being prescribed Flunarizine initially, I checked the internet for drugs information and side effects that is when i saw Wikipedia - amongst other sites - list both as a calcium blocker.

Mainly been to see the doctor because of previous heart condition and to check blood pressure and blood tests because I produce a lot of cholesterol.

I'd rather be aware of any potential problem as in high blood pressure because my father had 3 strokes and died of heart problems.

I do take my Hypertension book with me when I see a doctor and am looking to see a different doctor next set of blood tests due in 7 weeks.

  15. It would be very unusual to prescribe 2 calcium blockers at the same time for hypertension. in addition, flunarazine is not usually used for management of hypertension but rather to prevent migraine headache and also sometimes in the management of epilepsy and cerebral vascular disorders.

Were the amliodipine and flunarazine really prescribed by the same doctor at the same time and for the same purpose? Or were they prescribed by different specialists for different reasons?

Combo of an ACE inhibitor and calcium channel blocker is common enough

Firstly, apologies, Sheryl for not getting back to this sooner. Went for holiday break for my birthday. Came back, no internet. Typical laugh.png

Yes, same doctor prescribed both. And on two occasions.

Second time after full spectrum blood tests.

    cholesterol high but under medication.

Previous heart condition - 2 stents fitted.

BP was 134/77 (been as high as 169/90 - before Anapril and amliodipine previously given by a different doctor).

It was only after checking the internet i saw that both Amlopidine and Flunarizine work as calcium blockers, that is why I was concerned. (Wikipedia giving Flunarizine as a calcium blocker).

I do not and never have suffered migraine attacks.

  16. Not so good when an overcharge of 850 Baht is laid.

Don't forget that this hospital is still in "test mode". Not really fully open.

I think you can just make some out-patient consultation/care now.

Don't know when they will open in-patient big business ?

    No idea on that, sorry.

The phone numbers are 038 420823 / 038 420562 if you want to phone.

  17. New Hospital or not ? i think very good.

Not so good when an overcharge of 850 Baht is laid.

And a doctor who mumbles through everything.

I did see the Doctor I saw previously and the g/f made a note of his name. The next appointment will be changed to get to see him.

    Cannot fault the nursing staff.

    Where is the overcharge ?

If you read the original post you might just see it?

  18. Flunarizine and Amlodipine, both are calcium blockers.

So my question is, is it wise to be taking two different Calcium channel blockers each day? The two listed above.

Yes, I have high blood pressure ( currently 134 / 77 [age 58] ) and also take an ACE inhibitor

I have looked on the internet about blood pressure pharmacy and they all seem to say you can take 3 different types. None mention 2 Calcium blockers + an ACE inhibitor.

Sometimes the internet can be a bad thing, I appreciate that and does not always throw up the information you seek.

  19. I take back what I said ^^^^ about Cisse and his stance on the payday loan advertising.

It certainly looks as if he is being a 2 faced so n so using his religion to make the stance. A photo of him gambling in a casino and confirmation from the casino and other witnesses who say that it is him has emerged.

If gambling is against his religion - a religion he fervently adheres to, according to him - as is usury, then he should not be gambling either.

    Definitely 2 faced.

He just wants to leave the club, why was virgin money not a problem to him last season they also lend money.

That was one of my initial reactions regards Virgin momey but lending money at reasonable rates is nowhere near the same as Wonga who practic usury - according to the religion.

Looking at it another way, Barclays are also a bank and classed as a responsible lender at reasonable rates. If Barclays practiced usury, he could not play in the Premier league at all - allegedly.

Yes, it is possible he simply wants to leave the club, especially after that phoot of him gambling, showing he is 2 faced or ....

  20. In my experience, things like reception at all Thai hospitals is pretty good. They want your money and that's where you get your first impression of the hospital's staff, so they're instructed to kiss up well. It sounds like triage was actually just an extension of reception (letting you know how long you'll have wait and inviting you get coffee). Blood tests and X-rays are routine procedures that can be done with little training and/or interaction with the patient, so all of these are pretty superficial situations. What really matters is the care received from the doctor and the billing (fairness and accountability), From what you've said, I'm not impressed with this hospital. It seems that for the things that really matter, they failed.

I have to admit what you say is correct about the up-front staff.

When this was the clinic / small hospital next door on Soi Buakhao, they had many of the same staff, reception, triage etc.

The Triage that clean wounds, do dressing etc have always been very good.

This new hospital does have some of the same doctors too but as in many cases in Thailand it can be hit and miss with doctors.

There are two very good doctors there (whom I have seen) who explain everything and in a clear voice. I'll insist on seeing one next time I go.

Now I'm having to study the blood reports myself to see what levels are high / normal clap2.gif

One other thing I did not mention was about the chest x-ray. I had the x-ray done but the doctor never even mentioned it to me or the g/f. He certainly did not look at it while I was there.

Maybe others have a different experience of this new place. It would be interesting to hear their reviews.
