Places where one can camp in the more remote places are typically in National Parks, and so have guards on duty, or at least in the vicinity, 24/7. I have toured around both by motorbike and by car, and never once had an issue with theft or break-ins. As you point out, Thailand is quite a safe country in this regard. Generally there are guards of some form everywhere.
I would be more careful with a motorbike, because thieves (even in cities) can just hoist then onto the back of a pick-up and drive off. I wouldn't leave one overnight where it would be unattended or away from watchful eyes. Ideally park it close to where you will sleep, or pay a park official to keep an eye on it if you are going to wander off for a day or so. Twice I parked in a near-by resort and offered a parking fee to the owners.

The increase is mainly due to Covid. What limited space there is available costs a lot more to acquire.

Let's call a spade a spade.... 1G1 Brothel and Casino. Given the close proximity to other when participating in both activities, it is no wonder Covid spread as it did.
The sheer volume of girls making the crossing in to Thailand at one time suggests some kind of special event had taken place. I wonder if there will be any investigation into what that might be, and who the other participants were. I expect not.

Raise and maintain a population of feeble minded children. Easier to control.

Thanks to the 6 dodgy girls 'working' at the casino in Myanmar, then smuggling themselves back across the border, tens of thousands who are already suffering, will suffer more.
The Singha Obstacle Course event has already been cancelled , with the organizer and 100s of participants affected.
I sincerely hope they make an example of these girls.

60 plus people die on the roads every day in Thailand. Why is so little done to prevent those lost 'human resources'? I suppose selective compassion is better than none at all.

I am sure there is more to this story than unpaid duty on an excess of food stuffs.

Smelling someone's second hand smoke is just like having to smell an open sewer, and arguably more of a health risk. Why should other people accept having to smell another's pungent drug addiction? Sitting on a balcony with a cold beer and getting a nose full of someone's smoke is just nasty.
Perhaps letting people only smoke indoors at their condo, and only if the front door is sealed around the edges, that would be acceptable. Hallways filled with smoke? Nasty.

I like Margot Robbie... but a girl power POTC, and without Johnny Depp, that's not going to be an easy sell. It seems Hollywood still hasn't learnt.
If you want to get people off their Netflix watching behinds, team up Johnny and Margot in a manly, sexy, alcohol fuelled swashbuckling adventure full of greed, lust, and completely over the top fight scenes. Also, Keith Richards.

1 hour ago, spidermike007 said:Excellent news. The mask wearing, at this point is tiresome and inane. There is NO COVID in Thailand. So, why all the paranoia? I get wearing a mask in the US, or Europe. But here? Seems excessive, paranoid and based on fear mongering.
Did it occur to you that it might be practices such as mask wearing that are the reasons there is no (or almost none) Covid in Thailand?
Wouldn't it be more sensible if people continued to take practical measures to prevent Covid spread, particularly if the country hopes to be opened up to Tourism?
Getting rid of mask, hand gels, and social distancing measures would likely mean that as soon as the country opens up, Covid infections will skyrocket, leading to another lockdown and the economic repercussions that the country can simply not cope with.
If wearing a mask means helping to save the economy and all those suffering from having their income completely cut off, then I'll do it.

I live north of Bangkok in a relatively undeveloped and green area. It took me 2 months to finish my last jar of Vegemite, and had no issues at all. I do not store it in the fridge. Never seen or heard of mould growing in it before.

God speed!
Which fight? The fight to undermine democracy, or the fight to wipe out masses of vulnerable American's by not encouraging them to wear masks and follow other practical measures? Serious question.

Basically zero. They won't involve you if you don't involve yourself.

I am a Pixel user, so get unlimited storage of full resolution photos anyway. Although should I stop using a Pixel, this 'privilege' will be taken away from me even if the photos using the memory are from a Pixel phone. So while not entirely happy with this, I decided a few years back to spend 700 baht per year for the piece of mind that having 100+ gb of cloud storage gives me. I don't mind paying for digital services, but yes, I do not like bait and switches or misleading offers.

It has been interesting reading international headlines about Trumps recent actions. Things like 'subvert democracy', 'undermine', oh, and even that his actions constitute trying to stage a coup. He is a nasty, selfish man, and I find it quite troubling that people, no matter what you think of Biden or US politics in general, see him as the peoples' saviour.

Covid-19 second wave to hit year-end spending by Bt16 billion, economist warns

I and some friends will be heading north to Mae Hong Son over Christmas/New Year. Unless the number of local transmissions starts to escalate significantly, we will not be cancelling our plans. We won't be taking public transport, and hand gels, masks, and sensible social distancing measures will be implemented.
My heart bleeds for the resorts and other businesses up there who were counting on an income boost from the holiday season to survive, so actual quantifiable risk, and not fear or panic, will be the deciding factor.
