I've been wearing a mask since I first started riding in Thailand, especially Bangkok. The pollution would irritate my throat within a day or two if I didn't.

Carry a sturdy stick about 2 metres long. Just waving it at them confidently (not aggressively) should be enough to keep them away. After a while, the dogs may get used to you and leave you alone. I have used this strategy successfully several times.

How does this type of miscommunication error happen so often over here? Even after all these years, I am stunned it can occur so regularly and people are Ok with it.

With all those Chinese casinos, the country is basically one big money laundering service.

""They swear at us when we fine them," he said, "but I'm going to keep doing that until you learn to be neat and tidy"." ...good. ????
Mind you, if Covid has taught me one thing for sure, it's that this world is better off without humans on it, Sad, but true. ????

"The TAT forecasts a drop of more than 60 percent in tourist numbers this year compared to 2019."
First is was 20%, then 30%, and now 60%. Taking bets on whether it's 70% or 80% next. ????

"people could choose to either spend or save their Bt5,000 monthly aid payments", yeah, I am not sure that the people who qualify for this 5k baht are in a position to 'choose' right now. ????

It's not that I disagree with Anutin in this case, I am just surprised such a thing came out of this mouth. Fair enough.

This is what years of corruption, living hand to mouth, self serving leadership, and growing wealth disparity will eventually lead to. ????

It may settle any debate around pollution, but climate change is a long term thing. And most deniers say their is little to no correlation between human activity (regardless of visible pollution) and the current climate changes we are seeing.

There are so many people hurting from this, Thais and foreigners, it really does break my heart. 3 months ago, no one could have seen it coming. ????

Hmmmm, miscommunication yet again. So we either need to 1) rewrite and simplify the entire Thai language, or 2) accept that the country is lead by a bunch of incompetent/dishonest buffoons. Hmmmm, tough choice.

How are these numbers reflected in the daily release of new cases?
Where is the report of where these people contracted the virus.
I am sh!t scared of catching the virus (I am well into my sixties, no underlying pathologies). My SO cannot practice social distancing, it’s far more important to save face by meeting as many people as possible.
Save face? How? My Thai friends are all isolated at home with their families. Those who live alone might mix with one or two others at each others homes. If your partner is still actively socialising, it's not about saving face.

Your situation is horrible, but not at all unique. The please for money will no stop. The abuse will not stop. Unless, you leave. This will mean leaving your son behind, which may be the hardest thing you will ever have to do. Unfortunately, she does not love you. You are a means to an end, and as long as you allow yourself to be manipulated and abused, she will continue to do so. You have almost no protection under Thai law, and what you do have will not be fairly applied nor enforced. I am so sorry you are in this situation, but you must leave. ????

There are plenty of checkpoints in and around Bangkok. How regularly they are manned by anything more than orange traffic cones is another thing altogether.

Has he got anything right in his handling of this outbreak? I've just seen one mistake after another. Small hands and orange skin does not a wise leader make.

What ever one might think of Jacinda, she is excellent in a crisis. Strong, compassionate, and decisive. She also listens to the experts, explains the decisions she is making, and why they need to be made. Putting herself front and centre, where a leader needs to be in times like these. Good on her.

If those other 90% do have the virus, but it's not so serious that they require intensive care or similar, then coupled with the fact that new cases seem to be slowing down, then it's not all bad news. It shows that an even larger percentage of cases could be very mild. At the same time, it also shows we really do need to isolate ourselves as it is very contagious.

Thanks for what? Announcing that he's going to announce a strong response? Let's save the thank yous until once some real action, with positive results, is taken.
