  1. Hmm… here’s a possible answer https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/nov/14/brexit-a-major-cause-of-uks-return-to-austerity-says-senior-economist?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
  2. People are over it, but please don't expect anyone to not point out what a mistake it was and how the consequences keep on piling pressure on the uk economy. You wanted brexit, so you have to live with the economic problems it has brought and need to get over the fact they will be highlighted by whoever chooses to do so, whenever relevant. You might not want to hear such truths, but tough cookie... those who voted for it are just going to have to put up with being told about where it is causing problems.
  3. What!! So he was faking emotional connectivity when he did the washing up in a homeless shelter on a thanksgiving episode of Big Bang Theory! I’m shocked. sarcasm alert.
  4. That isn’t why they pulled out. It was due to fears that musks plans for tw*tter would allow hate speech to proliferate on the app. I’m fairly sure they’ll be back if he takes actions to ameliorate those fears.
  5. Republicans turning on trump. Like sharks scenting blood in the water they are pouncing. Love it. https://www.bbc.com/news/live/world-us-canada-63600154?ns_mchannel=social&ns_source=twitter&ns_campaign=bbc_live&ns_linkname=637109d549d9ef23494ba5b7%26'Terrible idea for Trump to announce presidential run' - Republican governor%262022-11-13T15%3A19%3A57.100Z&ns_fee=0&pinned_post_locator=urn:asset:dd1d0a3e-cdaf-4c76-9462-759c926d9def&pinned_post_asset_id=637109d549d9ef23494ba5b7&pinned_post_type=share
  6. Or England...
  7. Spin away but doesn't change anything. I don't need to read your posts to know how the race was going. trumpism failed to take the senate. Cue orange rage and red finger pointing. Schumer tearing into trump and maga on CNN right now.
  8. Democrats have taken Nevada and retained control of the senate. https://www.bbc.com/news/live/world-us-canada-63600154?app=news.world.us_and_canada.live_coverage.63600154.page#orbit-more-drawer
  9. You don’t understand how the poll tax was supposed to work do you? Council rates previously were based upon house value, so people living in bigger houses paid more. The poll tax meant irrespective of wealth all paid the same. This meant people on low incomes suddenly had to pay more, especially if there were more than one adult living in a house, and those who had greater wealth paid less. What thatcher failed to grasp was many of those who were now expected to pay more were tory voters and turned against the party. Politically the poll tax was a disaster and many refused to pay it (I personally moved house a lot for two years-harder to track you that way). I’ve posted a link that helps explain why it was a disaster and funnily enough also refers to five adults in one house as did you in your post… https://www.studysmarter.us/explanations/history/modern-britain/poll-tax/
  10. Milking All Gullible Americans trumps motto.
  11. Nonetheless the quote on hubris applies to musks twitter misadventure.
  12. He's gone from being worth 15 billion dollars to 3 dollars according a news report [BBC or CNN, forget which] I saw this morning, no link...sorry. Whether true or not there are going to be a lot of sports franchises and players [Basketball - Miami heat will need a new stadium name-, NFL-including Tom Brady- and F1 for a start] looking for new sponsors now.
  13. That they can't name either?
  14. “It is the mark of the mind untrained to take its own processes as valid for all men, and its own judgments for absolute truth.” Aleister Crowley, Magical and Philosophical Commentaries on The Book of the Law
  15. And everything wrong with mocking someone for having a dream.
  16. Not quite as badly.
  17. Democrats could retain senate as another trump backed candidate is rejected.
  18. Mock someone for having a dream? Yes, it would be wrong.
  19. Whatever his worth (financially, not as a person), doesn’t detract from the fact that he has messed up big time with his purchase of tw*tter.
