Giant albino buffalo stuns PM Srettha in historic encounter
Crossy replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If he was "stunned" why is he still conscious? Fetching my coat... -
A Guy goes into a bar with his pet octopus and says, "I bet $50 that no one here has a musical instrument that this octopus can't play." The people in the bar look around and someone fetches out an old guitar. The octopus has a look, picks it up, tunes up the strings and starts playing the guitar. The octopus' owner pockets the fifty bucks. The next guy comes up with a trumpet, octopus takes the horn, loosens up the keys, licks it's lips and starts playing a jazz solo. The guy hands over another fifty bucks to the octopus' owner. The bar owner has been watching all this and disappears out back, coming back a few moments later with a set of bagpipes under his arm. He puts them on the bar and says to the guy, "Now if your octopus can play that I'll give you a hundred dollars." The octopus takes a look at the bagpipes, lifts it up, turns it over, and has another look from a different angle. Puzzled, the octopus' owner comes up and says, "What are you pissing around for? Hurry up and play the damn thing!" The octopus says, "Play it? If I can figure out how to get it's pyjamas off, I'm gonna shag it! "

Yesterday, Mary’s husband Jim thought he saw a cockroach in the kitchen. So, naturally, Jim sprayed everything down very carefully and then cleaned the entire kitchen thoroughly from wall to wall and floor to ceiling. Absolutely nothing escaped his cleaning regime. When he’d finished the kitchen sparkled like new. Today, Mary put the cockroach in the bathroom.

I've fettled the heading slightly for more directed responses. Yeah, it's standard loop-in lighting wiring pretty much everywhere, if you need a neutral at the switch you need to specify it when wiring (we did and I've only actually used one of them). Dimming LEDs is a whole subject of its own. If you can't get neutrals to the switches, would you consider using smart lamps?

Removing shoes going into a shop- selective hygiene?
Crossy replied to Scouse123's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Their shop, their rules, you don't have to shop there. I do admit to being a bit confused mind. Our local builder's merchant wants shoes off if you go in the shop itself (you have to in order to pay). But the electrical place a few doors down doesn't. The vet wants shoes off (try that with a wriggling dog in your arms), but the dentist doesn't until you go in for torture treatment. Consistently inconsistent! Welcome to Thailand.- 73 replies

@UTBoro Is your cable underground or overhead? If it's overhead, replace it with a size larger aluminium cable, it's far cheaper than copper and very much less likely to wander off in the night. If underground you're stuck with using proper underground rated copper cable Have you spoken with your insurance company?

If it's a government position you are entitled to certain benefits as her spouse. I'm not sure it's really that much of a security risk, after all, how many zillion paper copies of your PP are circulating pretty much any Thai institution you've dealt with? Immigration have even been known to re-use copies as scrap paper! (which does make you wonder why they needed them in the first place).

How to use Siam Commercial Bank app from UK
Crossy replied to thoengthaied's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Basically, yes, yes and yes. The app works fine on WiFi provided you've already installed and activated it via mobile data (whilst in Thailand). But it's always best to be safe rather than be stuck without access to your bank. I have a dual-SIM phone so I'm not sure if you actually need the Thai SIM in the phone when using the app. -
Indeed. I would take the pragmatic approach. If you block the move then absolutely anything that goes wrong with their build will automatically be your fault. You really don't want to get on the wrong side of your new neighbours so soon. Of course, if PEA say "cannot" you are off the hook. Do you have an existing power supply to your plot? If not now might be a good time to talk to PEA to organise.
-
Much depends upon who actually owns the poles. If it's actually a PEA pole then PEA must move it and they would obviously know their own regulations. If it's not a PEA pole then anything goes, there are likely actual regulations but of course TiT. The poles bringing power to our place which were installed by PEA although not actually PEA poles are 18m apart. The final span to the house is 20m. Due to a similar situation to where you may end up (building in the way) we needed an extra pole which of course we paid for If it's going to interfere with your current or a future supply to your place, I'd be getting PEA involved ASAP.

Steve Harley: Cockney Rebel Lead Singer Dies at 73
Crossy replied to Crossy's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I admit to rating Judy Teen as being better IMHO, I never managed to find a decent video of an original 1970's performance EDIT apparently the BBC wiped the edition of TOTP where this was performed -

Steve Harley, the frontman of British glam rock band Cockney Rebel, died Sunday at 73 from cancer. Harley’s family said Sunday that he had “passed away peacefully at home, with his family by his side.” Harley said late last year he was being treated for “a nasty cancer.” His best known song was Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me), which went to number one on the UK charts in 1975. https://deadline.com/2024/03/steve-harley-dies-cockney-rebel-lead-singer-was-73-obituary-1235860727/

At this rate we foreigners are going to be lynched on sight!! TWO motorcycle-riding foreign men refused to stop when hailed to do so by a Phuket traffic policeman instead zoomed ahead and upon finally being caught assaulted the officer, locking him in a chokehold, with a shot being fired from his pistol as they fought over the firearm, Amarin TV said today (Mar. 17). This TV channel’s news team verified that the incident did actually occur at approximately 3.50 p.m. yesterday after E-Sor web page broke the news by sharing a photo with a caption saying, “Here in Phuket… foreigners are bold and badly attack Thai police. Photo owner: Thapapong Trs.” This led to a large number of Thai netizens criticising their behaviour. https://thainewsroom.com/2024/03/17/foreigners-assault-phuket-policeman-after-being-chased-over-traffic-violation/
