  1. What’s your problem? You seem to be all over posts with a differing opinion. This is a highly emotive issue. Forget covid for a second; people have had adverse effects from these vaccinations and now the gov wants to make it mandatory for babbies. Up to you what you do with you and yours, but perhaps dial it back on others yeah.
  2. You’ve been watching too much TikTok!
  3. More so an unbearable disaster for China. A paper tiger militarily and their economy would take a massive hit. Wouldn’t worry about life here; Thailand will just sit back and smile, as it does.
  4. Brexit blamed for rising food prices by a majority of voters, poll shows Then majority of voters are convenient idiots. It hasn’t helped but current inflation is more the war in Ukraine and post-Covid woes. Brexit hasn’t all of a sudden just happened! ????
  5. I baulk at this term for Thailand (because it ain’t), but instances such as this, dogs on streets etc, have it erring that way. The rip off transport situation on Phuket is a disgrace. Mafia is not the right word for these people; they are greedy grubby little scoundrels enabled by the system there. As above, hopefully a mature, non self-serving government can put paid to this carry-on.
  6. Dunno about the others now, but supermarket prices for beer in UK—most alcohol—is way lower than Thailand even factoring changes to currency over the last few years. When you get into the likes of craft beers, wines, breads, cheeses and fruits etc, Thailand can be prohibitively expensive. Even a slab of P poor lager here now is a rip, especially considering the wage relativity for locals. This can only be good news if they can break the monopoly of the dinosaurs, but a review of taxation on alcohol also needs serious consideration.
  7. Highly unlikely today but might be doable in a tourist-‘friendly’ place like Pattaya. On the bank’s regs, you typically need a work permit to open one, or at least a non-O (which you can’t get without an account) + local ID such as driving license and yes certified address/contract. Unless op knows banking staff—preferably manager—to bend the rules, would be best off contacting an agent.
  8. Dunno how much a difference insulation would make as it’s mostly that low frequency boom that also comes down the walls through the solid concrete joists. Horrible sound and some places are especially prone. Always try to get top floor wherever I stay—booming feet and scraping chairs drives me nuts. Guess insulation would help (up against joists if poss), but carpeting upstairs floor would probably work better. ????
  9. If you got rid of 99%, 12 left would still be too many, surely.
  10. Because they are stooges sent from the fag makers.
  11. Yes but it is likely none of that. Even clever people here borrow big without thinking of the consequences…. live for the moment is not always a good way to roll. Dude, you repeated yourself like 4 times! ????
  12. Not one for that look with the eyes that many Asian women seem to go for (second pic). She’s fortunate it hasn’t taken over her entire face. Still pretty.
  13. Wouldn’t surprise me if that ‘vaccine’ played a part. Personally developed arthritic conditions right after being infected with AZ / Moderna.
  14. It is a bit daft. Hurts a lot of businesses and bewilders the tourists, plus basically treats everyone like a kid. Just a face/show thing… ooh, we can’t have any of that, not on Buddha day! Time for Thailand to grow up a bit… also drop the silly 2-5 no sell alcohol in the big shops thing while they’re at it. I hate that when I’m on an all-dayer! ????
  15. Guessing you're in a big city, op? Have you any Thai friends? Been coming 'n going for 25 years and, while there are impatient folks everywhere (and driving aside), for me Thai folk are the polar opposite. In general, the most easy-going, laidback people one could wish to meet.
  16. Keep drinking. Doesn’t make any difference unless perhaps thou ist a clueless tourist. ????
  17. Recently had same issue (Bkk Bank), where they routed through Kasikorn. Emailed and asked that they tag my account so it sticks to that routing and it came through as international (FTT). They did, however, say this: " unfortunately Wise can not guarantee that your next transfers will be paid out via this specific partner. This is because there are unforeseen scenarios where our partner might be facing a technical or liquidity issue and then Wise will route the payment via another available partner to ensure same day delivery " One thing I noticed when I got international transfer was it'd say 'monies will be in your account tomorrow after 13:00... ', or words to that effect, where other, 'local' transfers didn't have this prompt and were hitting my account in seconds.
  18. I'd bung it on a thick rubber mat. Also, check the transport bolts have been removed from the back of the drum.
  19. Hey, here's a thought; why not crackdown on EVERYBODY that breaks the law, colonel?! Get these people out of office!
  20. Why do these little military boys that try to play leader always get it sooo wrong? You are the terrorist, bro, and that Thailand is erring toward real democracy is more a testament of being normal and right than getting in bed with the West. Please grow up (or hang yourself) and leave the good people of 'Burma' in peace! With a bit of work, your country could then move on, one day to be followed by all the questionable governments in SEA.
  21. There are many like that on this site. Rather than waste energy and brain cells continually trying to set them right, find it is best to save one’s sanity and put them on ignore. Works very well. People that don’t see the cons of the re-influx of hordes of Chinese likely do have an agenda or are benefitting in some way.
  22. Ooh. What products and ('highly technical') resources are these? Bit ironic when the Indian government cannot feed its own people, accepting billions of US, UK and others tax payers' money year in, year out, yet claim to be doing very well. How did covid work out for India with vaccines and oxygen? Believe the West generously helped out And what happens when the Chinese decide to take more Indian land... India will look to friends in the West, that's what. Stop talking tat.
