  1. Typical response from a very poor ‘leader’ with an agenda. Get your nose out of China’s ass,ets and you might be considered grown up enough to have them. At the moment, it is too risky that you’d pass on the tech or simply lose one, plus you don’t really need them. To what end?
  2. The difference is that the low quality beer here is THE benchmark and oftentimes is all one can get, lest you sup on an overpriced out-of-date something 'real'. Sugary, homogenised overpriced crap, all of it. It's not about being a beer snob (anything is better in the region), so much as not having to perpetually pay into the coffers of the corrupt few, along with being ripped on tax. A beer snob is the hey-ho-pip-n-dandy type suppin on nothing but the finest Belgian... compare that with lovers of the Thai BIG three wife-beater-wearing beauts. ???? When a country as relatively rich and creative as Thailand cannot produce ONE interesting beer to rival pauper Laos, you know something is horribly amiss. I mean, F-a-doodle-do, it's enough to make a mother eat her young! Sincerely wish him all the best and these guys rip into this across-the-board corruption, forcing all the rich dinosaurs onto the streets, starting with the brewers. Yes please!
  3. Yes, enough already! People can run off and get umpteen boosters and wear their masks till the end of time; up to them. Just don’t expect that carry-on of others.
  4. Indeed. Those shysters were obviously pretty convincing, plus Thais can be hopeless when put on the spot. James Wattana is a decent bloke, highly unlikely to be involved in such a scenario. Perhaps he just freaked and wanted the fictitious story unfolding to all go away despite having nothing to do with it. Also unlikely he's down to 8k... in that account maybe but the guy is worth millions ($, £) and will have accounts in the UK etc.
  5. What laws are these? Don’t pass it on because the world will know we already copied it.
  6. More likely a case of alcohol-driven loss of face… the algorithm and equally inclined folks love reefer madness tat though ???? Btw, could t get on with pattayanews site. So impossibly full of ads even an iPhone can’t handle it ????
  7. I’m with the general consensus; hope it doesn’t affect service. Always used them where possible. Good service and usually good times. Not to be typical, but the stewardesses tend to be pretty hot, too!
  8. Inter-province? Think they stopped requiring that a while back (as long as one returns to same address). Having said that, Hat Yai made me do one last year after they told me I had visited Bangkok a few weeks before. Bizarre!
  9. Google is your friend. ???? They still there then? Has always been the case but this current generation seems especially vocal. Pai itself is still nice though. Lamphun also ok. Even CM was quaint back in the day. Songkhla old town alright to look at but quickly gets gridlocked with Chinese/Malay visitors taking pictures of random things like brick walls and manhole covers. Hua Hin still pleasant to stroll around when few tourists. Use to enjoy Sukothai but haven't been for years; Mae Hong Son too.
  10. Even if you crossed out million I wouldn't bank on it. 20M years, any and all of the above.
  11. Thought that in 2014 when they stole the country. It could’ve kicked off massively, and many times since, but never did. If the army did their thing again (they won’t give in easily), there would likely be some pushback, but Thais are generally apathetic and most would sadly take it.
  12. Say what you really mean, Mike ????
  13. Just go visit instead of yapping about it.???? I'd move there... but probably a bit outside the tourist haunts like the Algarve. Great climate (number one), tasty food, cheap wine & port + nice people. Cheap property away from the main centres too.
  14. Steven, if your TV avatar is a selfie, I can see why they didn't like you as a customer.
  15. Indeed. Banks here have always been real greedy. Horrible fat institutions. I wouldn’t use them if a visa didn’t depend on it, but what can you do? They’ve kinda got you by the taters.
  16. Are you dehydrated? Hottest time of the year (esp when coupled with aircon) and dehydration plays havoc, esp to those susceptible. Thai beer seems to be especially depressive. Hydration, exercise, reading, out and about. I'd look at the basics first.
  17. Bad idea. If they get called up and skip it, or go awol, it’ll eventually catch up with them. Dunno about gaol and fines, but there can be issues in getting a job, buying land etc.
  18. Depends where you are; Sukhumvit or Silom no, but you can get a tidy one-bed furnished place in a fairly new development (with pool, gym etc) in a good location in Chiang Mai for 10-12k.
  19. They can be as filthy, or more so, than a three-toed ugly old man. Moved into this semi-nice place many moons ago as the previous tenant—a pretty (fairly young), professional (no, not bar girl) was in the process of moving out. What an absolute sty she’d left it in. Needless to say, it was a good few hours before they got it presentable enough.
  20. Like how the comments nonchalantly dismiss it as trivial, like they wouldn’t be pooing their pants flying with this bunch, then this happens (‘it’s not normal, probably aircon condensation’ etc…) and the plane turns back! Was looking at alternatives from Europe a while back and this Scoot popped up. Ok if you fly with absolutely no weight (and don’t breathe probably) but with all the add ons ad nauseam—which made AirAsia look good even—and all the ‘extras’ one would typically get with a standard flight with a NORMAL airline, it worked out about the same lol. Mickey Mow airline.
  21. Oh dear, you are one of those! Never mind. I would sooner have Kermit the Frog running things than what Thailand has had to put up with, and so would 99.999% of Thai people. There is absolutely no argument for the current regime. Digital wallets? What ever are you on about? Do us all a favour and stop posting tat about how you think this country should be run because we’ve had the same rubbish for the last NINE years!
  22. The legal Thai weed market is still new and thus relatively expensive; the US scene (legal or otherwise) is matured and extensive. Local weed can still be got cheaply in Thai, but those shops whinging about being undercut clearly need to draw down their prices in the face of competition. They have already made big profits.
  23. Not only does the gov not deserve its tourists the way it herds them as cattle, it also views its own the same.
  24. Nope. I'm not young anymore, probably still mildly handsome (someone's gotta be ), but it's happened/would have happened on a number of occasions without even trying. It helps majorly if one has Thai friends and can speak a bit I guess.
