  1. I would suggest that a 4 year old thread is hard to resurrect and new one would perhaps be more beneficial/curent. Appreciate the sentiment though.
  2. Indeed. My apologies Ivor, it was Mokwit who replied to the 2019 post...
  3. Which part? You replying to a 4 year old thread...................................or Buriram being slow?
  4. It will indeed - if it is permanently enforced.
  5. Spot on, 100%. Tragic/premature deaths will attract grieving, but 'normal' deaths are a simple journey to the next life (which for some reason Thais always think will be better).
  6. Replying to a 2019 thread.........................Jeez, things must be slow in Buriram.....
  7. Absolutely........baguettes being a prime example. I am just back from a 2 week holiday in Vietnam (my 5th visit). I think that Vietnam has HUGE potential and IMO has a much broader and varied environment than Thailand. The development around Da Nang and Hoi An since my last, pre-Covid, visit is immense; high quality resorts, high rise hotels/condos and an infrastructure that Thailand couldn't hold a candle to. Danang beach road, for example, is a what Pattaya should have designed 30 odd years ago.
  8. Ah well, that's the media for you. No mileage in just reporting concise, accurate facts!
  9. Not strange at all......'local/national news'. I bet the coverage of Nicola Bulley was a bit thin in, say, Turkey and Syria.
  10. I did it a couple of weeks ago. That is why @Liverpool Lou asked if I fibbed. In the context of using my UK correspondence address, then I guess I did.
  11. I am with Kasikorn. It is only an issue if you, or your Immigration office, make it an issue. I supplied the standard bank letter plus 12 months statements where I highlighted the monthly transfers. I also had a PDF for each transfer but the IO showed no interest in those
  12. I don't recall doing....I used my UK correspondence address... I can't recall whether the phrase 'UK resident ' appeared anywhere or not......
  13. No it doesn’t. Thousands of expats in Thailand (like me) use the monthly income option for extensions - and use WISE.
  14. Barclays have a habit of lying. Hopefully you won’t have too much tied up in the Channel Islands come your demise…….there is an extra layer of Probate to go through.
  15. I have just 'switched' my Barclays account to First Direct. I only had 2 small insurance direct debits on the account (from a much earlier switching exercise). Piece of cake online.........and they gave me GBP 175 ????
  16. It might be worth noting that where the Farang has been cohabiting, without legally marrying, AND has not bothered to divorce in the UK - it leaves the door open for the former (still) legal wife to make a claim. Just nominate your current partner, it keeps it simple as long as the nomination is acknowledged. Even if it isn't directly acknowledged, and recorded, by making the nomination it adds weight to Prakhonchai Nick's evidence of proof above.
  17. "Plus, plus" (VAT 7%, plus whatever service charge, usually 10%) has been a feature of Bangkok (and 'better' restaurants in other areas) for decades.
  18. Vietnam also recognised that and there has been HUGE development in tourist areas - aimed at the Chinese.
  19. Your next renewal will contain the letter from HMPO which you will need to take to Surin Immigration office to facilitate the transfer of the stamps.
  20. Speak to the HMRC helpline. As Cleopatra2 said, you must have a NINO and a 10 digit UTR (tax reference). You want your personal tax allowance applied immediately as it is a bit of a balls ache have to apply to reclaim overpaid tax. No fun paying 40% tx if you don't have to.
  21. I think that you have a short memory. They were a bl00dy nuisance.
  22. Masks have limited use IMO but are better than nothing at the height of a pandemic - they are not the suit of armour that the Thais think they are. I am happy to believe that the vaccine may have limited the effects of the virus when I caught Covid.
  23. He didn't tell me. I was fully aware that the main purpose of the vaccine was to limit the most serious possible effects of the virus. At no point did I think that they would protect me from getting the virus - a mask was probably more effective!
  24. Nobody ever told me that I wouldn't get Covid if I took the vaccinations. I took the vaccines, I got Covid and felt a bit rough for couple of days. That was it.
