  1. Yes. I was advised that I must evidence compliance with the last extension approval (i.e. 800k/400k) AND show 12 x 65k Baht coming in. That is what I will be doing in 2 weeks time when I apply based on the switch from money in the bank to monthly income.
  2. I think that just shows the ignorance of IO's with the online system. I am sure that they think they are being helpful and, in many cases i.e. Buriram, they have always done it together. There is a perfectly good online system that does not need an IO to do a 90 day report when doing the extension. They don't at Jomtein, for example, because different desks deal with the 2 tasks.
  3. Maintaining a UK address is the key. I manage this with the help of my ex-wife. Your 3 sources of income mean that you will be required to complete a self-assessment return. All income generated in the UK is subject to UK tax; yours will be added together and the personal tax allowance of £12570 will be applied, first to the state pension so you receive that gross, then the occupational pension (where a PAYE tax code is applied) then you will be charged on your declared rental income - usually payable twice a year, January and July.
  4. I thought they only issued single entry Non O visas based on retirement.
  5. You will do now.......recent national mandate.
  6. I wonder which hotel this was? They would obviously have been fully aware of what was going on.
  7. Do you normally carry a Certificate of Residence around with you?
  8. Absolute garbage!
  9. I do a mix of both.
  10. Why don't you save yourself a lot of grief and just don't get involved. Leave it to the Thais - they know what they are doing.
  11. WISE is a UK based foreign exchange and financial technology company - and very good they are too. They are not a bank. I use them for currency transfers but I don't leave deposits with them. Interest rates don't really interest me. Be warned 'retaining' a UK bank account is becoming very similar to 'opening one' with some banks. The perceived additional regulatory requirements are cited as the reason for not opening accounts for non-residents........it is only a small step to take that approach to existing accounts where the account holder is non-resident.
  12. I have lived in Thailand for 16 years. Of course I need a UK bank account so I can control when I choose to remit money to Thailand. Government investments and private dividends are better paid into a UK account. I have accounts with 4 different UK banks + WISE. I also have credit cards with available credit of £80k - that is a useful back up. If you have any income, or particularly assets, in the UK then it is sensible to retain at least one bank account. Preferably with a UK address.
  13. Oh please! I am sure that you have heard of Isaan culinary practices..
  14. A fraction the Thaksinista 10,000 Baht for votes bribe.
