  1. Don't worry you are not. In reality you could get away with using your old passport in Thailand (and for travel to neighbouring countries, (certainly by land crossing, as I did ) until Immigration become aware of your new passport (and as long as VfS do not cut the corner off the old passport - as they failed to do with mine).
  2. That is incorrect. I traveled to Cambodia on mine. Once the corner gets snipped (when you collect the new passport) it is not valid.
  3. Naaaagh....................... I am sure the hotel will have submitted TM30's
  4. You are wrong Sandy. It doesn't matter to you that you are wrong because you are comfortable with what you do. I only point out that you are wrong because you are misleading others with your post. WISE is always better than using HSBC. On a transfer of £1,000 via HSBC £995 is sent after the £5 charge; that equates to 40,929.32 using BKB's TT rate of 41.135. Less the 200 Baht minimum @0.25% charge = 40,729.32. Same £1,000 with WISE gives a net transfer of £993.62 after their charge of £6.38. With their (always) superior exchange rate of 41.5684 yields 41,303.19. 583.87 Baht difference is not "too close to call". For me it is closer because as a former HSBC employee I don't pay the £5 charge......I am only 378 Baht better off......but my money arrives in 6 seconds normally. On larger transfers the saving is even greater:- On a transfer of £10,000 via HSBC £9,995 is sent after the £5 charge; that equates to 411,144.32 using BKB's TT rate of 41.135. Less the 500 Baht maximum @0.25% charge = 410,644.32. Same £10,000 with WISE gives a net transfer of £9.942.61 after their charge of £57.39. With their (always) superior exchange rate of 41.5684 yields 413,298.39. 2,654.07 Baht is certainly not "too close to call"
  5. The 'cost' is less with Wise. As I have said before, I don't pay fees with HSBC but I receive more Baht every month by going HSBC to Wise to KBank. The gap has narrowed in recent times though. @sandyf ...... you may be interested in the new HSBC Global Money Debit Card ....sounds similar to the Wise card.
  6. I thought that you were struggling with IBAN numbers..
  7. I took Amlodipine for a number of years......no issues.

  9. You red shirt nonce! ???????? Does it HAVE to be either/or...........................asking for a friend ????
  10. These days I prefer it if they don't move too quickly......
  11. @Eff1n2ret..a genuine question because I know they can be helpful.
  12. If it is Maneerat I am sure they are right. 'Out of province' seems to be a feature of Thai banks - and a reason to charge (ATM withdrawals, paying in, visa money) Sorry, I thought you asked about a Si Racha branch?
  13. No. But I know what 'out of province' means.
  14. Si Racha is in Chonburi. So OK.
  15. Obviously, in an intestate situation the widow is probably not the sole beneficiary and such action is 'illegal' (as it is on any joint account if you claim that rules of survivorship don't apply in Thailand - although there would be no practical comeback). That said, my partner will have card (and eventually PIN + internet) access to my account so she can empty the account. I also have a simple Will as a back up if Plan A fails.
  16. Can I ask if DWP noted your existence on their records and said "don't bother about the life certificate"?
  17. What nationalities are there that don't apply the rule of survivorship on joint accounts?
  18. I was replying to someone who was referring to Scotland. Are you saying that the Civil & Commercial Code (or even the Thai banks themselves) does NOT apply the rule of survivorship ?
  19. All mandates cease on death. In the UK a joint account does not form part of the deceased's estate and the survivor is entitled to the residual balance under the rules of survivorship.
  20. Do you have a Thai bank account? I have the Nationwide app on my Thai phone. I certainly wouldn't use cards for getting cash - if I had the Thai bank alternative. I move money over to Kasikorn via WISE. I have not had an issue with post in Bang Saray - although I only have a couple of items per year. Local post, via the excellent Ban Amphur post office is good. I suspect that any delays are not due to local factors - more likely sitting in an international sorting office between London and Bangkok (my money is on the latter).
  21. That will be the reason then. If Krungthai did not authorise card payment you may need to visit them......perhaps call their call centre first.
  22. I believe that the first transfer in has to come from an account in your name.
  23. When Thais accept 500 Baht (or whatever your local figure is) to vote for particular candidates it quantifies the value of their vote.
