  1. The Lebua Tower, Sheraton Grande and JW Marriott Khao Lak were happy with D/L ....................I don't do higher end than that.
  2. I disagree that the thread is silly - what is silly is those people believing the myth that a passport should be carried at all times. To be fair to those people that advice comes from many sources - including UK.GOV (although I couldn't find it - even with a link from Thaizer. https://www.thaizer.com/carrying-your-passport-in-thailand/ The debate may sound familiar - from 2013 Richard Barrow and 2014 Buriram Expats. https://www.richardbarrow.com/2013/08/always-carry-your-passport-or-a-copy-while-in-thailand/ http://www.buriramexpats.com/forum/index.php?topic=7872.15
  3. In 2011, the government led by Abhisit Vejjajiva proposed that the minimum age for identification card should be reduced from 15 to 7 years, in order to reduce the use of birth certificate and other evidences for children
  4. Several hotels have refused to accept pink cards - I expect because they don't understand the. I have never had a DL refused.
  5. Yorkie - you never venture past the char siew stall - and she would never ask for it! ????
  6. Not necessarily the current one.....????
  7. Thank you again - and I understand and agree with everything as above. So, the last thing I ask for (for completeness - and the ability to kill off the next thread in which someone says you have to carry your passport) is the legal reference that states "all people in Thailand (Thai or Foreign) must carry government issued Photo ID. " Now THAT, must exist and if necessary I will search the Civil & Commercial Code again tomorrow.
  8. thank you. You were very specific about this statement - "The law is also somewhat vague... it states ‘Aliens must carry government issued photo identification or be able to provide such within a reasonable time-frame". Could I please ask you to quote the reference for that law.
  9. .....they steam rice every day.......
  10. UK banks do not seem keen on doing that - I am also not sure what it achieves over just calling them. There is no risk in calling the number on the card......you can also Google to find direct numbers for fraud departments.
  11. Apologies, I didn't mean to infer that either - I was just posting my experience and used your post to quote from.
  12. They are not one and the same. Immigration officers have much wider ranging powers. A normal tam ruat will not check your 'status' - I doubt that most would know how. ID is sufficient for police (or Immigration if you can also show something regarding your status), as said, if they want to see your passport you have 24 hours to present it at a police station. Whilst I have read stories of aliens being taken to a police station while a friend retrieves their passport, I have never heard someone claim that it actually happened to them. For 17 years I have taken my passport out with me. I have photo ID and carry a passport copy in my wallet. I only take my passport if I am going out of province - and then it stays in a hotel safe. Never a problem. I don't expect a problem in the next 17 years either.
  13. Out in the Boonies you don't need 'lectric, you are probably still bartering and exchanging pebbles for field rats.
  14. ....and I think that you know why they can't......????
  15. Any recent experiences of processing times. I am hoping that UKVI may be getting back towards the normal 15 day processing times.
  16. Off topic but most hotels (all the many that I have used) will accept photo ID. I present my Thai driving license.
  17. No....???? Cambodia regularly produce good quality rice and have beaten Thailand in the past. Scotland are Scotland......................................
  18. I doubt that the card number will be sufficient to get the money to your account
  19. Does the 800k have to come from an overseas source for this first extension.
  20. She may not like Mia Luang. I guess is suggests the existence of a Mia Noi.
  21. A Pad Krappow is just not the same with Basmati. Pad Krappow is the only time I eat Thai rice. I don't mind sticky rice from time to time.
