  1. I think you can...... A trader from Phnom Penh, posting on a Thailand forum .....................................come on.
  2. I can understand that. Make sure you protect that Santander account - and maybe consider something like WISE as a back up.
  3. There was less than GBP 1,000 pm going through the account - and all receipts were from DWP or government agencies. All transfers out were to my personal account. Starling also did the same to a friend; his activity was much higher as he was buying and selling motor parts. No discussion or kiss my butt, they froze his account for 14 days whilst they 'reviewed' it, then closed it....GBP 75,000 of Kosher money in there. Starling were/are a bunch of amatuers. As for credibility - I pitch my ASEAN NOW reputation rating of 4048 against your 35 any day.....
  4. Your credibility drops by the second. As a retired bank manager I obviously would not involve myself in such Shenanigans....................................????
  5. Are you on commission for them. I was just pointing out their algorithm approach. These pseudo 'banks' can be quite ruthless. I had an issue with Starling a few years back when they closed a business account for no justifiable reason. What has The King got to do with anything? Silly comments like that just dilute your credibility further.
  6. "Revolut, in common with traditional financial institutions, uses algorithms to identify money laundering, fraud and other criminal activity, but unlike the rest of the banking industry, Revolut's algorithms additionally trigger an automated suspension of accounts. Revolut explains that "the system is programmed to temporarily lock an account and place it in a queue, until one of our compliance agents can review the case". In September 2022, Revolut confirmed a cyber attack exposed personal data of tens of thousands of users. The above should not deter anyone from at least considering the likes of Revolut as a banking option.
  7. I would agree - in part at least. Part of the attraction of London, and other cities, is the rich diversity of cultures.
  8. @Lemsta69 I'll wait..........................
  9. Copy and paste where I said that - or retract the comment.
  10. Old stock !! ???? Just how long did the manufacturers expect Her Majesty to live ???
  11. .....and you write from the glasshouse of Cambodia ????....be careful where you throw those stones!
  12. A friend just got his back after 9 weeks and was more concerned that the new black passport still had the words "Property of HER majesty's government...
  13. You are the only person saying that is fake news. Others are saying is probably poor/inadequate reporting....but then what would you expect from owners without a journalistic background.
  14. Jesus! Your missus is going to have a whale of a time...???? Might as well take her to Jump and Frickley Colliery!
  15. Then she needs re-educating. ???? The Old Trafford tour is actually very good and the souvenirs from there were well received by Buriram family members - even if they did support Liverpool!@
  16. This was a winner with my missus (as was the Highlands) and we regularly make return visits. Grasmere, Hawkshead, Ambleside, Keswick. One moment she was running on the fells shouting "Baa" at the sheep, 2 hours later she was enjoying roast lamb in a pub in Coniston.
  17. I bet she knows a lot more about places in Thailand that she has never been to. Social media is brilliant for broadening the mind, or researching places that you might want to see. Even in Thai they can Google "where should I visit on my first trip to the UK". My missus asked if we could visit Lausanne in Switzerland. "Why Lausanne, I asked"......... she went on to explain that the late King spent his early years with his mother and she would like to see where he lived. A good enough explanation, so we went. This year we are taking in Budapest because she thought it looked interest on You Tube bloggs etc. London Eye is worth a look but London offers so much more with riverside walks, old fashioned pubs (try looking up the Prospect of Whitby, the oldest riverside pub in the UK in the Docklands area. Take in a show but remember the language/culture barriers; we did Phantom of the Opera - we were also lucky to find the Killers performing at Wembley on one visit.
  18. Banks pass on all their costs, simple as that. The higher costs of handling/processing cash are simply spread amongst other customers (usually the retailer paying in the cash). The retailer then spreads his costs across all customer with his pricing policy.
  19. Do the Old Trafford tour and get a photo of her wearing a BUFC shirt - that will go down well on social media.
  20. You are touching on something important there. Don't ask US where you should take her, get her to do some research into where SHE would l;ike to go and what she would like to see. For our first trip I organised everything based on what I thought she would enjoy; I wasn't wrong but for future UK visits (and Europe) I told my missus to come up with a list of places to see - and the reasons why. I wanted her invested in the planning aspect of the trips. My missus wanted to see snow so we went to the Highlands in late March. Easyjet flights to Inverness are cheap. Pack dry Mama noodles and chilli. Avoid over-priced UK Thai restaurants that sell dumped down versions of Thai food but find someone that your wife can speak Thai to at least once a week. Avoid the local Thai mafia.
  21. That is hardly a recommendation, the 'news' reporting here is abysmally flawed. If you are smart you would seek independent confirmation......as you should with any of my posts (which are usually more grammatically accurate than the these 'newspapers'.
  22. I suspect that they were unable to provide identification. You are surely not dumb enough to accept Thai newspaper reporting verbatim?
  23. Excellent. You do understand that not all stories end up with a happy ending.
  24. Do we ? I read stories of people saying that they have heard stories about stories...................? If you are stopped for some reason and cannot identify yourself then expect the police to detain you until you are able to do so - that does not necessarily involve a passport. DO NOT give your passport to a 'normal' policeman; only immigration officials have the right to inspect your passport.
