I called Fidelity yesterday to deleted the first zero of my Thai phone number. I am able to receive the passcode now. Thank you for the valuable info. I had turned off 2FA in the account and was able to log in without a passcode. Some how it was turned on in mid February. I am going to keep the option on now that I can get the passcode.

If you are Non-US citizen, Non-US resident and if you are a Thai resident. US tax: File Form W-8 BEN with IBRK to have correct withholding of 15% on interest and dividends. If the withholding is correct, you do not need to file US tax, unless you have other US income. File form 1040NR with Schedule NEC to pay the difference or claim a return if the withholding is incorrect. Form 1040NR is tedious but there is a short cut for this purpose, it's in the instruction. Capital gain from the sale of US stocks are tax free for you. Thai Tax: only if you bring the proceed into Thailand, I don't know anything about Wise let others help you there.

Using 3 Tesla MRI to investigate prostate cost 63,000B at Bumrungrad, 32,000B at bangkok Pattaya Hospital. Using 1.5T cost a lot less at Payathai Siriraj. 1.5 T with endorectal coil is good enough for prostate examination: https://ajronline.org/doi/10.2214/AJR.04.1584

Electric Vehicles in Thailand
Thailand J replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
When I transferred registration from Chonburi to Yaso, I didn't get a new book at Yaso. The new registration number and province were noted on the cover of the old book. -
I went to see Deepal S07, i love the interior, but BYD Sealion 7 looks interesting and online research shows it's better in many ways. I can still use the car if they really want to tax world wide income and I dont stay here year long.

What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2024)
Thailand J replied to Rimmer's topic in Entertainment
Just watched: Black Doves. New TV series, only 6 episodes. Juror 2. Latest movie from Clint Eastwood. Both very good. -
I have a Cornell electric rice cooker with a stainless steel inner pot, but lately I have been cooking rice in a microwave oven. Use a glass dish with cover. Rice to water in the ratio of 1:1.5. 10 oz rice plus15 oz water is enough for two. No leftover to deal with and freshly cooked rice taste very good. Cook in a 800W microwave oven at full power for 5 minutes, then at 400W for another 15 minutes.

The Investing Year Ahead
Thailand J replied to Mike Lister's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
The last thing I want is to have a fund manager playing market timing on my behalf. https://www.spglobal.com/spdji/en/research-insights/spiva/ -
Once when I had my BKK debit card swallowed by an ATM, I went inside the bank to report. The front desk told me the branch did not have the key, the teller made a copy of my ID, which he showed to the ATM maintenance crew when they came two days later. The crew retrieved my card and let the branch held it until I came to pick it up. I don't have any debit cards from any Thai bank anymore, not worth the fees and hassle,You never know when it will be rejected. Now I am carrying a BKK credit card, with QR scan payment everywhere and cardless cash withdrawal, I am using my card less and less often.

Congratulations to US index funds investors. S&P 500 index was 5995 at Friday's market closing. It took about 5 years to double from 3000. It is up 26% year to date, not including the dividends.

CNG and LPG vehicles face crackdown after tragic school bus fire
Thailand J replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I have a Fortuner with duel fuel systems. The LPG system needed an inspection for tax renewal yearly. All the shop on Sukhumvit Road in Pattaya did was just took a picture of my car, super imposed the picture showing a absentee man infront of my car. The picture was part of the document for tax renewal. Since then I have been going back to where I have installed the system for yearly inspection, where they really do an inspection for the same price as the sleeze shop. I have stocks and very little cash. I had bond holdings until 11 year ago when sold them and invested the money into BRK/B at about $104 per share. Today BRK/B is about $450 per share. I was going to sell BRK/B whenever I needed cash but I have been selling other stocks with less capital gain to minimize tax.

I just got a renewal notice from AXA. My insurance with 300k deductible is practically useless other then for LTR visa requirement. Premium has increased about 2000B to 19000B, that is only a negligible fraction, 0.6% of $100k. Not only that I can invest the $100k in stocks, I also moved my 800,000B non-o retirement visa deposit into stocks. S&P500 is up double digit year to date. With insurance, paperwork is also very simple.
