  1. In the US to make a wrong turn can just place you in a dangerous spot.

When I moved to San Jose in California in the 90s, I visited Palo Alto. A very expensive and classy area of the city with most houses over a couple million dollars, the Stanford University, and very famous residents. That was Palo Alto, but on the west side of the freeway. In the other side, just crossing a small bridge over the road, was Palo Alto East, a real ghetto, and considered one of the most dangerous areas in the country. Full of dilapidated houses and streets. I got there for mistake, and had very scary moments...just looking around.

Police was posted in the west side of the bridge monitoring who was crossing it. A real border...and a reality that most Americans do not know...or do not want to talk about. You can be at the wrong place....at the wrong time, very easily in the US.

In NYC, you have Jamaica Estate (multi-million dollar houses, professionals, great neighborhood) right next to Jamaica (ghetto, hood rats, crime). Please don't confuse the two.

  2. The dead jihadi moslem lad has been linked to his school friends and a mosque in Parramatta. The chilling thing about the report is the New South Wales police Commissioner reported that there are so many potential terrorist cells and police have difficulty monitoring them all. Send all the creeps from this vile so called religion back home if they are on visas. Lock them up if they are not.

Agree. Never read about immigrants from China, HK, Korea, Singapore, etc committing acts of terrorism.

Hopefully, Australia won't look like Western Europe soon.

  3. "US commander says Afghans requested US airstrike in Kunduz"

    Yeah...sure they did.

So either you were there on the spot or you were with the US forces and have the full report of what happened,

You have posted 1 source for which I am grateful which of course blames the Americans.

Do you have any other sources to back up the story?

Would you prefer to rush in or wait for a fuller report?

    As requested...another news source:

  4. BIG CITIES ARE A SPECIAL CASE and should impose restrictions to protect air quality. NGV and Electric Vehicles are obvious choices. The rapid adoption of NGV in Thailand is impressive and commendable. I believe that Germany and Scandinavia are leading Europe in applying this technology. World reserves of Natural Gas (Methane) are much greater than Oil. Furthermore, it can be supplemented by Bio-gas which is a renewable resource. There are also large volumes of Methane generated by decaying garbage in municipal dumps. This is an economic energy source which should urgently be utilised, because if allowed to escape becomes a potent greenhouse gas.

There have been huge advances in diesel technology in recent years which continue today. Diesel will remain an important technology for many years to come, especially for heavy vehicles, long distance travel and remote locations, and of course agriculture.

True...especially considering that Thailand is still a developing country.

  5. I own one of the 2012 Jetta TDI diesels in question. I paid over $3000cdn premium price, strictly strictly for the TDI diesel engine option. As far as I am concerned VW has committed fraud and the CEO of VW has admitted to that in public.

I do not want and will refuse the software update as I am perfectly happy with my diesel mileage the way it is. I get approximately 1200kms per tank on the highway and up to 900kms per tank in the city. The low end torque on the TDI engine means that almost nothing passes me on the highway and it is oh so peppy in the city.

Anyone want to complain about pollution...speak to the Chinese!

Did they bitch about the exported pollution from the West via its factories?

  6. They should rename it the K visa route. The ongoing replacement of Silicon Valley computer engineers by cheap Indian labor has been a major loss of good jobs for Americans. Trump completely misses the point when he focuses on the criminal element of Mexican immigrants. Indians immigrants, who lack respect for women, are streaming legally into the country and stealing skilled jobs, not $10 an hour manual labor jobs.

Are you aware that a large number of US based companies sell their products in India? One cannot expect to have access to markets if one does not provide a bit of opportunity to those markets in return. Your logic calls for a one way direction of trade. One of India's exports is skilled services. The overall "cost" associated with allowing access to short term contracted employees is offset by the revenues generated by access to the Indian market. The savings generated for US firms is often the difference between survival and closing up shop. Has it occurred to you that the wages paid to US IT workers was long been bloated because there was a shortage of qualified labor? When there is a labor shortage, wages increase. If you are unhappy, take it up with US consumers and purchasers of services who DEMAND cost reductions.

So what? An even larger number of US-based companies sell their products in China. They get more revenues generated by access to the Chinese market than the Indian one. Yet, people/media have no issues with pointing out the jobs "stolen" by China.

  7. Look at him, look at her.

Everyone can see what's gonna happen ........ except him.

Question from interviewer, "What would you say to people that want to come here?"

Answer from me, "Don't marry a woman 1/3 your weight and 1/2 your age and expect her to love you or be trustworthy"

    This isn't rocket science.

But that goes for almost anywhere: Thailand, Russia, Czech Republic, Brazil, Nigeria, etc.

  8. Still so many mentally diseased Jew haters in the world and we've got our share posting on this forum. Maybe wait until the evidence is presented in this particular case before anyone passes judgment on her culpability. Again this is what the German authorities decided to do ... it's up to them.

Personally I will be happy to see the last of these cases. The really big Nazi fish either escaped completely, already tried, and/or long dead. These cases against the Nazi flotsam and jetsam seem to largely serve to rile up the Jew haters

There are even more mentally diseased Islam haters nowadays, also on this forum. I am sure you yourself know a few.

Both rank below the number of China/Chinese (and possibly Russia/Russian) haters here. Whether an article is good or bad news-related, they'll find reasons to bash.

  9. So, can someone fill me in. Is Thailand going to become the 24 province of China...or what! I look at the people in Bangkok and there are plenty of people who look Chinese here already.

Walk around Sydney and there are plenty of people who look American there already. Is Australia going to become the 53rd state of the union (after Britain 51st and Japan 52nd)?

  10. The world is not overpopulated, in fact most western societies are facing and aging society. Where the ratio of old to young is becoming too low to support the care needs of the older generations.

India does have a large overpopulation issue however, and a mass of low skilled workers who can just about manage to ride a bike and add 2 and 2.

Government jobs are civil service positions with low prospects of improvement but no requirement to do much work.

There is no need for the west to breed more people to look after the aged. In the unlikely event that they haven't invented care robots in the next ten years, they can just import some of the unlimited masses from countries that breed too many people to have jobs for, like the Phillipines.

Philippines is ranked between 50s-60s on that list https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sovereign_states_and_dependent_territories_by_fertility_rate

Import heck of a lot more "unlimited masses from countries that breed too many people to have jobs for" in NIger, Somalia, Mali, Chad, Uganda...basically whole of Africa.

  11. What terrifies me is that his photo and real name is now publicly exposed without any process or maybe even an evidence. That would not happen in civilized country right ?

His life in Chiang Mai is finished even if he is not guilty.

He owns several businesses and is easy to have enemies just because of that. He could be simply a victim of some threat.

I wish him all the worst if he is guilty, but I would wait before I throw stones on him.

... wait a minute. Two boys went to the police, admitting that they are providing illegal sexual services, and all of this just for 500 baht ? Something is missing here ...

The fact that those boys went to the police not because the guy had sex with them but because he refused to pay them kind of says it all, doesn't it ?

What it said to me is: Thailand, like most developing countries, have a list of problems that most developed ones don't really have any more - e.g. adequate education for the poor. I'm guessing these two boys didn't really have proper elementary education, let alone sex ed.
